Needless to say, we were very disappointed after reading all of the glowing reviews. We simply did not find the food that good. The mussels were small and overcooked, especially condsidering their small size. The chowder while seeming to have adequate fish products, the liquid part was thin and rather watery. The fish itself was very ordinary and not particularly of generous portions. The chips again were very ordinary. To be honest, we have had much better and tastier seafood at local fish trucks and other regular takeouts. We are stating just the facts as we experienced the experience. By the way, the servers were excellent. Needs to work on food quality overall though.

Never coming again. The squid rings were extremely salty and way too greasy. I know deep fried squid rings ought to be greasy but this was extreme. Ended up with a family member getting sick and throwing up from the heart burn afterwards. The batter hardly stayed on them. Not to mention them dumping the hot rings straight into the Styrofoam tray which melted onto a couple of the rings. Absolutely dangerous. The poutine had watery gravy with very little flavour, they used store bought fries which some were a bit hard in the middle, maybe udercooked? Not sure what caused them to be like that. They also had no flavour. At least they tried to make up for it with about half a blocks worth of cheese on it. The only decent item was the loaded wedges, which weren't initially given to us. We got takeout and had to turn around and go back for the rest of the meal which they forgot to hand to us. And then treated as if it were somehow our fault by the moody staff.

Local seafood, berries and root vegetables takes the centre stages. My friend and I had lunch and dinner on the same day because the value, portion size and flavours were bar none. Wish we had another day on Fogo Island so we could eat here again. Menu changes daily/seasonally for this truly farm to table restaurant. For lunch we had fish cakes, daily soup of potatoes and leek, roasted chicken with partridgeberry jam on home-made bread with soup, and partridgeberry ice cream. For dinner, we had pan seared cod with braised leeks and potatoes, roasted pork chop with navy beans and braised cabbage, and partridgeberry custard. Service was fantastic and employing locals, we got to ask questions about the regions and they were so helpful in locating sites for us to see. The atmosphere was warm inside (clean rustic Nordic vibe) and the big front window let in light and views of the ocean and their stores and stages. Because they pay their staff completive wages, tipping was not need. If you go to Fogo Island, The Storehouse is a MUST.
