If you haven't already, you have to try the Lisbon specific liquor. This is one of the place that sells Ginja in a chocolate cup. You drink half of the shot and then eat the rest of the cup with the remainder. It gives a very rich and full flavor, but I will warn you that people do you think it tastes like medicine. It's so easy and it's a quick in and out store. The worker was so knowledgeable and is English friendly. You can also buy different cuts of meat and cheeses. She allowed me to do a taste test before I purchased the cheese and I thought it was very thoughtful of her. I ended up purchasing a block of goat cheese, but if you're in the market for cheeses, I would highly recommend that you guys at least also try the sheep milk cheese. Awesome place to stop by and try 1 Euro Ginjinha. It is served one either white or dark chocolate cup and just the right size to endure the unique tasting of this drink. To me, it was more like Nyquil, cherry flavored of course. Greeted by super nice lady. Did have a additional seating in the back for some drinks and food. Since we did not have enough time, settled for the sight seeing and try out the drinks everyone is talking about. read more

What a gem in the midst of Sintra. After we ate lunch, we wandered around town and were able to stop in and get some Port wine and sample ginja in the chocolate cups, which was on our must-try list. While I don't love the super sweet and sour ginja, the chocolate cup that you bite while drinking definitely helps it go down easier and make it a fun experience! ;-) The shop itself is small but carries a great deal of items from wine and liquor galore, to jams, cheese, and other snacks, and local gift items. The owner was knowledgeable, helpful, and so very welcoming. She also helped us find the perfect gift for family watching our kids at home. Definitely stop in when in Sintra! read more

Big disappointment; the worst meal we've had in Portugal. We saw one of their posters in Sentra of dishes they have. Similar to a charcuterie board. They also have a meat and cheese board on their wall (highlighting Menu Items). They had nothing similar; the waiter said they changed their menu a year ago. We got cheese to go with the bread and olives they serve (which cost 4.50) the rolls were about 1 1/2 inches. We cot the green soup we've been wanting to try...... won't be having that again. My husband got grilled chorizo. He ate 1/2 of it - as it was so full of fat. Americans on tours - try some place else. read more

Super sweet spot that was the first stop on my Sintra food tour. Great service and great food, there are tables outside (nice on a warm day) and inside. The shop is up an alley and might not be easy to locate but its totally worth it. Bread, cheese, chorizo, port wine jam and a sardine pate that was absolutely amazing. The young lady who served us was pleasant and patient, very happy to show what was available and make recommendations. I went home with a block of cheese that made it through security and back to the USA (vacuum-packed cheese is allowed as long as it is declared at the border). We stumbled into this place for lunch while visiting Sintra for the day and it ended up being the highlight of our whole day. Joana introduced us to a local wine unlike anything we have ever had and we all liked it so much, we tried to go to the winery so everyone could bring some home! She went beyond and above to tell us all about how the grapes are grown in the sand, and also let us try an amazing almond liquor. She was so incredibly pleasant, kind, and helpful. Sometimes you get recommended a place and sometimes to stumble upon a gem. My wife and i just picked one of the first places we came across in Sintra. This was in the very corner of a rounded street. On a very busy day, the staff was very accommodating from the start. The menu is limited and they feature a number of wine tasting nibbles. We had a salmon salad and a salmon sandwich. The waiter promised one of the best salads i would ever eat and he was right. The salad was excellent, featuring complementing flavors and my wife loved her sandwich. The fish was cooked perfectly and all seasoning / accompanying items enhanced but not overwelemed the flavor. I tried a couple different local beers which were great. We would return if ever in the area. read more

Cantinho Gourmet is a small liqueur shop in a small corner of the Historic Village of Sintra, Portugal. It also contains traditional Portuguese delicacies that speak to culture of the region, including traditional jams, cheeses, and the best wines and olive oils from the surrounding regions of Portugal. By far, however, the main attractive to the store is the traditional "Ginginha" (liqueur of sour cherry) which is served in a tiny cup of chocolate. Sounds amazing, right? It is. Whoever came up with the idea for this drink is a friggin' genius. The best part about the store is that the owner lets you sample any of the liqueurs that you want! As there are endless different selections of unique types of alcohol and liqueurs to choose from, this is truly a great perk of (not to mention a sound business practice, as you'll be tempted to buy up half the store). This makes any trip to Cantinho well worth the visit, even if you don't intend to buy anything. Personally, I bought a small, travel-sized bottle of Hidromel, a liqueur that if fermented from honey and known as the "The Drink of the Gods" in Portuguese. Hard to go wrong with that! Sadly it will be a while before I have the pleasure of coming to Portugal again. But if you find yourself up in Lisbon, the town of Sintra is very accessible to the city and well worth the visit, and Cantinho Gourmet was certainty the highlight of our time in town. read more

She is ADORABLE and KNOWS her cheese, her goods, her wine and her PORT! Did a wine port lesson in this smal liqueur shop in the Historic Village of Sintra. And brought home a VERY unique port not found anywhere else. The owner's approach is so friendly, welcoming, with that Portuguese pride (even though she is an adopted Portuguese!). Higher end jams and jellies, lovely selection of charcuterie and ham. Just lovely! read more

The cheese and charcuterie plates were large and tasty. The staff is friendly and helpful. There's seating in the back shop. Lots of stuff to buy as well. read more
