Passion Fruit Piña Colada
Amari H.

This wasn't it. At all. I went with a friend on Taco Tuesday and was very disappointed. I had heard so many great things, but it did not reach the height of the reviews for me. From being told that a deal presented on their website was not valid to the underwhelming taste of my meal, I was not impressed. Some pluses...Our server was nice. The restaurant is very beautiful and in a great location. I know the view on the balcony of a summer sunset is probably a must-see. The parking wasn't too bad, with the option of street parking or garage parking. If based on the meal I had though...it's a no.

Food tasted great. Fresh tasting, great flavors! The margarita flight was good as well! This is a little more on the pricier side for the food and drinks. But, the service was great and our waiter was nice. Sitting outside was nice as well!

Food was good but it was definitely on the pricier side. The service was good too but I think the place is slowly becoming run down with seats looking beat up. So, it's not as "nice" as you'd think.

I recently visited Cantina Laredo for the second time, and unfortunately this visit was very disappointing compared to my first experience. About a week ago, I attended a special event there that featured a four-course curated dinner with four drink pairings, and it was excellent. The food was delicious, the drinks were thoughtfully paired, and the entire experience felt very intimate and well planned. Because that event was so good, it actually motivated me to come back again as a regular customer. This time, I planned to go for Taco Tuesday with a friend. Before going, I looked at the restaurant's menu on their website. The menu clearly stated there were two happy hours: one from 3 PM to 6 PM and another late happy hour from 8 PM to closing, with Casa Ritas listed at $6.50 during happy hour. The website also advertised Taco Tuesday with tacos starting at $2. Because of that late happy hour, I invited friends to meet there around 8 PM. When we arrived at 8 PM, we were seated immediately since it wasn't very busy. However, when we looked at the menu on the table, it only listed happy hour from 3-6 PM at the bar and did not mention the 8 PM late happy hour that was listed on the website. When our server came over, we asked about it. He mentioned that he had just started working there and wasn't sure, and that he only knew about the earlier happy hour. I showed him the menu directly from their website. He asked if maybe it was an old menu, and I responded that I didn't know if it was old, but it is the menu currently on their website. He went to check with someone and came back to tell us that they do not have a late happy hour. That was frustrating because the late happy hour was the main reason we chose to meet there at that time. If the information on the website is incorrect, it really should be updated or clarified, since customers are relying on it when making plans. We even debated leaving because that was the main reason we came. Since we had already driven from different areas to meet there, we decided to stay and order tacos and drinks anyway. We both ordered the passion fruit piña colada, which the menu listed at $12.75. For food, I ordered four tacos: two carne and two pollo asado. My friend ordered four tacos as well: two carne, one pollo asado, and one pescado (fish). Most of the tacos were $3 each, with the fish taco being $4. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. Each taco only had about three strips of meat, and the flavor just wasn't there. I ended up mostly picking the meat out and leaving the tortillas, and my friend had a similar experience. Our plates were mostly full because we simply didn't enjoy the tacos. The drinks were also underwhelming. We both ordered the passion fruit piña colada, but it didn't really taste like passion fruit and barely tasted like a piña colada either. It was very bland. Because we didn't enjoy the food or drinks, we were only there for about 30 minutes before asking for the check. When the bill came, we noticed that the drinks were listed on the menu at $12.75, but on the bill they appeared to be around $13. At that point we were already ready to leave and didn't feel like debating it, so we simply paid and left. Overall, this visit was disappointing from start to finish. The inaccurate happy hour information on the website is what brought us there in the first place, and it wasn't honored or explained. The tacos and drinks also didn't meet expectations, especially compared to the excellent experience I had at the curated dinner the week before. I know the restaurant is capable of great food based on that event, which made this experience as a regular customer even more surprising.

I celebrated a special occasion at this restaurant and made a reservation a few days before. The person I spoke to over the phone was very nice. On the day of celebration, the staff was super accommodating and we had plenty of space. The food was good, I had tacos and table side guacamole. I would have appreciated being able to see the guacamole being prepared but something on the cart was blocking the view. Not a big deal. The drinks were slow coming out but everyone enjoyed their drinks. I will return as I appreciated the good customer service and the open space. The food was also delicious.

Went for a ladies brunch in which the management was notified a few weeks in advance and reminded before us ladies headed out. We arrived 15 of us. Waited at least 20 minutes for chips salsa and order. My food arrived and was cold as many of the other ladies. The Bloody Mary drink was nothing I've ever had it was SWEET. The food itself flavor was good. The waitress worked ever hard. A huge miss for us.

Finally trying Cantina Laredo after seeing it above my Pottery Barn store for years! Restaurant Week 2025 is what brought us in the door - but we ended up not ordering from that menu bc what we wanted was much cheaper. The inside is very nice and open and spacious - very generous spacing between tables to the point that the very large 20+ person birthday table near us with our baby wasn't even an issue. The patio is also nice and is a wrap-around patio though it was winter so not open when we were dining. The menu is large and has a ton of items on it and their featured entrees have some inventive options to try like their steak wrapped and shrimp stuffed poblano pepper served on a bed of fried corn. YUM. Didn't try it - but it sure does sound yummy! My husband went with a standard steak burrito, we tried a small side of guacamole which was very good, their complimentary salsa and white sauce with chips was yummy, really liked the salsa. I ordered enchiladas and they have several kinds of those with white sauce, mole sauce, tomato sauce, etc. I really wanted to try some dessert so first we went with the Mango Tres Leches cake. I HATED it. Something about it did not sit right with me. One bite and I was out hard. So we swapped that for the brownie and the presentation of that was wonderful - it comes out in pieces with a hot plate and the brownie is put onto that with sizzling bourbon butter poured on top and topped with a generous portion of ice cream. The brownie looks delish and is thick (like 5 inches thick) but it didn't really taste like brownie - more like cake. They were both kind'of disappointing. Everything was really good and the service was spectacular. We'll be back for sure.

Vegan fajitas

From San Diego this is the only place in Va beach that has authentic tasting Mexican food and the mole is amazing. Pricey? I paid 19-21$ easily in San Diego, so it tracks. Also ask for tameka she is the BEST waitress and really made our meal better please give her a raise immediately!

Chile con Queso

Visited Cantina Laredo with my brother during happy hour. We sat by the bar, which was not too busy, despite the price friendly happy hour appetizers, and the relaxing yet upbeat atmosphere. The bartender was attentive and provided helpful information and suggestions as we asked questions about the menu and as I asked questions about ingredients and my wheat/gluten allergy. The guacamole had great texture and, im my opinion, had a the correct proportion of tomatoes, onions, cilantro, jalapeno, and lime. It was lacking a little salt, so I tried to make up for that with the tortilla chips. The chile con queso was well spiced and very tasty! I asked for the queso fresco on the side. It was a nice addition when I wanted to add it to my chip. The ceviche was extremely delicious! You have to really like citrus flavors and green olives as it is heavy on this taste profile. We also tasted the pescado tacos which were a big hit! I ordered a classic margarita which was a little on the sweet side for me.

As soon as you enter you will be greeted with smiles and a positive attitude by your hostesses whom will do their best to find you the best table for your party so that you can relax and enjoy your time here. With indoor seating, patio seating, private room seating, balcony seating with a view of the center of Town-center and its well known fountain, and of course plenty of Bar seating !!! My favorite seating area (BAR) to began your adventure. Freshly made Guacamole, Vegan friendly, and many delicious food choices for your pleasure for Appetizers, Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, or just endless Chips and Salsa while you enjoy your drinks. Always a great time here at Cantina Laredo, with some amazing bartenders such as Givanna, Marisela, Kera, Ellis, to name a few, but you can not forget their amazing servers whom are always working hard and working together to give you the best possible service. With various beers on tap such as Pacifico, Modelo Especial, Modelo Negra, Dos XX Amber, and others which change from time to time so do ask your bartender or server. Other imported beers are Tecate, Heineken, Heineken 00, Pacifico, Dos XX Lager, Corona Extra, Corona Premier, Corona Light, Modelo Negra, and various Hard Seltzers. And of course the many drinks to be made with the many choices of TEQUILAS !!!! But if Tequila is not your choice, their is still more liquor options as well as Wine (Vino). With Happy Hour specials daily and now with more activities and events being planned for their customers you are most definitely going to have a great time !!!!

Strawberry Margarita

I've wanted to try Cantina Laredo since they opened so while celebrating my birthday last month, I decided to stop in and treat myself to lunch on a Friday around 1pm. Since the restaurant was pretty empty, I was able to be seated right away which I was happy about because I was starving. The restaurant was very modern and chic, I loved the vibes. The chips and salsa were brought out by the server right away and I ordered a Strawberry Margarita and the Chicken Enchiladas. I actually enjoyed the chips and salsa. One was mild and the other was spicy, the spicy was my favorite. The food actually came out very quickly and let me tell you, the chicken enchiladas were a 10/10! Absolutely delicious! The rice and beans were just as good and the drink was very enjoyable. I highly recommend checking this restaurant out. The drinks were very good and the enchiladas were some of the best I'd had in a very long time. I will be returning ASAP!

I feel like it's gone downhill since the last time I was here. I was there on a Tuesday night and our server was not friendly at all. Never smiled. Did the bare minimum. Did not engage. My friends got there before I did and ordered the tuna tacos and they are still good. I would go for those again. I ordered the nachos and my friends got the fajitas. My nachos were not your typical nachos. If you want "traditional" nachos then these are not it. They were all individual chips with everything on every chip. 8 chips to be exact. It definitely was not outstanding flavor. I ate the steak off each one and left the rest. The meat on the fajitas was good and it was tender but the amount of onions that came with the dish was A LOT! Over priced, okay food....probably would not recommend and wouldn't go back.

Here's the deal: Jessy's is located in a small shopping strip. While the building is a little older I did not think l it run down or in a part of town that I would consider questionable at all. I saw at least one review that noted this- could not disagree more., nothing to fear here. Plenty of parking and it's free! Once inside the restaurant is medium sized with seating for at least 15 parties and tables that can accommodative larger parties, 10+ people. There are two order stations at either side of the restaurant - one for hot food the other for ice cream and desserts. Service was friendly and attentive. You can choose to self order for takeout or be waited on. While staff wait on and bring you food and drink, pay is self pay at the food order counter. The menu is larger and has something for everyone. Proteins are optional for nearly every dish. The food here is authentic with lots of protections including some of my favorites- Al pastor and chicken tinga. Chips and salsa are scratch made and fresh- very good. We had street tacos which were very flavorful and also scratch cooked including the corn tortillas. Served with traditional hot sauces to add that little extra heat- awesome. The Al pastor was not grilled to get that char that some Al pastor dishes have but was otherwise spot on. Chicken tinga was perfect. If you are looking for authentic Mexican at reasonable prices, this is your place and absolutely worth a few minutes drive over. Hope to see you there sometime- happy eating!

We came here to celebrate a birthday, and it ended up being one of those meals where everything just hit. First off, those margaritas are no joke. Massive, flavorful, and strong in the best way. Bonus: they do $2 off specialty margs on Mondays, which is dangerous knowledge now that I have it. I went with the Coco Loco Margarita (1800 coconut tequila, coconut milk, triple sec, and sweetened flaked coconut), and WOW. It was creamy, refreshing, and honestly tasted like a tropical vacation. My friends ordered the House Marg, Peach Sangria Marg and the Spicy Pineapple & Cilantro Marg, all were just as impressive. The spicy one had a great kick without being overwhelming, and the peach option was super smooth and fruity. Before we even ordered, the complimentary chips, salsa, and that famous white sauce came out ... and let me tell you, that white sauce is to die for. I could've eaten that all night. For my dinner, I had the asada enchiladas, and I'm still thinking about them. Perfectly cooked grilled steak laid over cheesy enchiladas with verde sauce, plus rice and black beans. I loved that the steak was on top because once I got full, I could still pick at the protein (elite move). My friends got arroz con pollo, carne asada tacos, and the wildest dish on the table ... the El Molcajete. It came out sizzling in a stone bowl loaded with shrimp, beef, chicken, chorizo, cactus, and all the fixings. We all shared bites and it was unreal. We ended the night with the staff singing happy birthday and completely embarrassing my friend with a sombrero and a candle in his shot. Incredible. Definitely will be coming back, especially for that margarita deal and birthdays!

Happy hour was 3-6pm I think, and there were 2 taco specials on the board. I'm not sure if it was valid or not.. There was one person at the bar taking orders, serving drinks, and pretty much running the place. She was very busy. The anxiety of watching her try to handle everything made me a little uncomfortable. She was doing her best, and kuddos to her for not flipping a table and walking out. She was nice, but she asked us every 3-4 minutes if we knew what we were ordering. It was very aggravating. I don't think she realized after several times we were over it. The inside is pretty much a bar setting with a few booths. It's very dated and low-key kind of gloomy inside. I'd say this is a bar for locals, not really a restaurant. It's definitely the kind of food you could eat if you had a few drinks, maybe. But sober, heck no!! Lol. Ugh. I was excited to try them because they have some 5 star reviews, but it wasn't what I expected. When it was time to eat she went and got the cook from outside. We ordered 2 burgers and fries, and chicken nachos. We left and came back to pick up our order and the seats at the bar was packed at this point. The waitress met us as we walked in, with our food. I was hungry, so I tried the food in the car. The burger was definitely a frozen patty and thick as heck. It looked decent kinda sorta, in a way, maybe, just a little bit. Idk what to say. The fries were crispy but awkwardly greasy!! There was one tiny tomato on my burger and a huge onion that was a little moldy. I've never seen someone use a slice of onion this big on a burger. The burger definitely needed seasoning. I think if it had flavor it would have been decent. I'll give the burger a 4/10. My sister got the chicken nachos and she was not happy. Whatever mystery beans they had made were disgusting. They tasted old or something was off about them. The guacamole was a little sour tasting also, and the chicken was flavorless. She tried so hard to make it work, she even re-cooked the beans and it just didn't help. 2/10!!! She spent $25 and felt it was the worse decision she made all day. I wish I was exaggerating or something, but this is actual factual. The prices are reasonable, I'll say that. But it's definitely certain things to stay away from on the menu. I don't think we'd ever return. Maybe the tacos are better than what we had ordered. If you're looking for a drink maybe things would be better. I think they specialize in drinks over food!?
