My wife and I have 2 rescue huskies who needed training. Because they are so strong, we were having a difficult time when they exhibited leash aggression and aggressive barking in our car when they saw other dogs. Our male husky, who we adopted around 3 years ago, had been chained to a fence in the high desert for most of his prior life. We had a difficult time initially establishing trust with him, but he ultimately became a sweet dog who enjoyed playing in our local dog parks when he was off leash. Put him on a leash and he would become a different dog lunging and growling at passing dogs. Our second husky is a female who we adopted when she was still a puppy. From the start she loved people, especially children. Given her size and strength, she would pull like a sled dog on a leash and would jump on people out of exuberance. And as she started to mature, she would occasionally bully puppies exerting her dominance. In addition, she learned to be leash aggressive and to bark aggressively when in the car. To make a long story reasonably short, my wife and I love to take roadtrips and we have a history of being able to take our dogs with us. Our huskies needed some training beyond what we had accomplished on our own. We met Julie through a mutual friend and she impressed us with the way she handled our dogs in the initial meeting. We decided to send our dogs to Julie for two weeks for our female and three weeks for our male. Her positive and consistent approach worked wonders. Julie sent us videos of our dogs while they were in training. Both dogs loved Julie and her family. Our female husky came home a calmer dog who enjoyed showing us how she could sit, stay and not pull so hard when walking on a leash. Frankly, she loves treats and positive reinforcement and is much calmer when passing other dogs either on a leash or in a car. Our male dog stayed an extra week and when he came home he was calm. It was hard to believe he was the same dog we sent to Julie. Although it has only been a short time since they have returned, we know we have to continue to implement Julie's positive training techniques. We can walk with them on a leash and reinforce their calm behavior. We have even driven around our area looking to pass other dogs to reinforce their remaining calm rather than scaring people and their dogs as we drove by. My pup was an 18 month old rambunctious, stubborn 80 pound, Pointer /Terrier mix who came replete with nightmares and a belligerent attitude when we met Julz. After a month of frustrating behavior such as; agression, reactive behavior, fear, apprehension, pulling, biting, destroying anything in sight as well as, jumping on everyone and fighting with other dogs, I sought out a trainer, because I felt as though I was in over my head and overwhelmed. Julz was referred to me by a fellow Combat Vet whose Service Dog was also trained by Julz and behaved like a dog out of Central Casting. Truth be told, I didn't expect much, however from Day One of training, Julz assured me that my pup and I were meant to be together and obtained miraculous results (which I never dreamt was possible) in approximately three months. Moreover, Julz went above and beyond my expectations by; (1) counseling my pup on how to co-exist with other dogs and their owners, (2) providing written instructions, (3) introducing us to the proper use of an E Collar system, (4) private and group interactions with myriad breeds and sized canines, (5) crate training and (6) puppy love. Julz' s training methods are compassionate as well as, effective. She is warm , friendly and welcoming to the pups as well as, their owners. Julz is always available to answer questions and truly cares about the dogs who love the lady. Our 3rd rescue dog proved much more of a challenge than 1st two. 'Finn' is a very smart, handsome dog who had spent time on the streets in Thailand. We had to teach him to play, to accept affection - this poor boy had no childhood, he was raised as a working dog. We used our limited skills socializing and loving him for 2 years, but then we turned to CanineJulz as both people and dog agression we're still there. Julie home evaluated Finn and recommended her 6wk, immersive camp at her facility for him. The 6 weeks of total separation was very difficult (for us!). Julie is amazing! I rescued my dog Nikona at about 10 months. She had been a stray her whole life (we think) and was extremely fearful of EVERYTHING, which quickly turned into reactive. I am beyond thrilled with the training that my 3-1/2 year old German Shepard received with Julie at CanineJulz.
