Our "Promenaders" are animal lovers who give personal, attentive care to your pet...(whether it's a dog, cat, bird, rodent or reptile). We specialize in dog walking in off-leash areas in and around Santa Cruz, CA. We bring our services to you, picking up and dropping off your dog at your home during most business hours. In-home pet sitting is available whether it is for a night or a week. We are bonded and have 30 years of expertise to draw upon.
History
Established in 2011.
This business began after my youngest child started high school. I found myself with a skill set that included raising a chimpanzee, home educating five children, and owning a small business involving dog breeding. I had always been an animal lover, and had a gift with animals. After a stint in a veterinarian's office I knew that I wanted to work with animals but not in the medical field. Pet care seemed the next logical step, and so Canine Promenades was born!
Meet the Business Owner: Pamela M.
I began my "career" with animals at the age of 3, living in Africa where I was surrounded with wonderful animals both pet and otherwise! In my early years I was the "vet" where I lived and soon found that my nurturing care coupled with some pure luck brought me success at reviving various animals who were brought to me. I could tell you of the bush baby I literally smuggled into the US when I came to college...and smuggled back to release into the wild in Africa. Also of the time I spent in north Africa studying Chimpanzees in preparation to release my own chimpanzee into the wild.
My love of animals has never left me, although I am now in my 50's and live in California, I have bred dogs, worked in a veterinarian's office, have volunteered at the Native Animal Rescue, as well as have my own pets. I have squirrels who know my voice in my neighborhood and am apt to know the names of the neighborhood pets before I know their owners. Animal care is fun for me, not work!
