Good basic training for your dog. Classes are small and there is enough room for dogs to roam around.

Our unique situation of moving across the country with a much different living situation went very smoothly with our dogs because Jamie prepped them for all the new things they would encounter. Denali is a Bernese Mountain Dog/Poodle mix and was jumping, barking, crazy Impulsive, eating socks, and paper things. Just 2 weeks of training and he was calmer, he would stay on a "place" his cot, he didn't drag me on our walks. People would say how well he would behave then when they found out he was less than a year old they were amazed. OMG I love Jaime she has been a GOD Sent. I signed up for a training class in December and not only did they push the date back to the middle of February with a simple "deal with it", they changed my class time to late in the evening with no alternatives. I was told "too bad we need to give your spot away" -- the woman said they'd reimburse me, so I guess we will see. I've been waiting to train my puppy, but oh well! It's not bothering them in any way. I'm very disappointed in this organization's ability to communicate with the public and strive to address the needs of their clients without throwing those who PRE-PAID off a cliff.

I really love this club, and I know my dog loves it too by the excitement she shows when we pull into the parking lot. It has really helped my dog bond with me, as we have done everything from puppy obedience, to agility, to this class called "rally" where the dog has to do more complex commands, and even therapy dog class where they can help your dog get placed into a therapy dog program if your dog is a good fit. They have it all! And it's positive reinforcement too - lots of treats and praise so it's a blast for the dog. I searched long and hard in the Chicagoland area for obedience training. We tried places in Chicago, places in the far West suburbs, but no place is as great as the Lyons Dog Training Club! The training is very organized - they have a board and a Director who oversees everything. Classes are small (limited to 12 dogs). My intro class had 2 trainers, which amounts to 1 trainer per 6 dogs. Dog must undergo certain vet tests before being admitted to the class (protects the dogs, the owners, and the young puppies), so I like that it keeps the dogs healthy. The trainers are great and very respectful of dog owners of all experience levels. They do have other activities in the Odeum sometimes (like soccer) which can be distracting, but I think that has actually helped my dog focus more and I have noticed that her behavior at home has improved ten fold! The class is so organized that the instructors will email you every week with a list of the training exercises in plain english so you can practice at home (practice makes perfect!). I LOVE this training club and will sign my dog up for as many of them as I can - even after we complete basic obedience. The price is VERY reasonable too for the quality of the training - most of the trainers have awards in dog training sports. I wish I had gone to the Club sooner for training!!! Five stars!!

When we returned to our normal work schedules we would leave her home for 6-7 hours a day. She seemed to be great in her crate or in the kitchen during the day but after a few days she started to wreak havoc in the house. Breaking out of her crate, two couches, tons of poop, and chewed window sills later, we reached out to Kendra and Scott for help. She had separation anxiety and needed to be taught how to be confident in herself again. Our pup went to the two week board and train program and came out a brand new girl. She was confident. She was calm. She was no longer anxious. We can now walk her without a leash if we needed to. She comes when called. Most importantly she doesn't break out of her crate, and finds it as a safe place now. Her training saved her and saved us. Our girl loves being able to visit Kendra every now and then and we have the confidence of boarding her with someone we trust. Someone who plays with our pup. She's not just locked in a crate all day. We are forever grateful for Kendra and Scott. Every single time someone asks how we got our girl to listen to us, or comments on how well behaved she is, we always tell them about Canine Peace of Mind. Any dog we rescue from here on our will take a two week vacation with Kendra and get the training they deserve. We have their advice for life too! Dog eating the cat poop? Called Kendra. New baby coming home? Texted Kendra. Need to make a part of the yard off limits? Kendra was there to answer all of our questions. We highly recommend the training and all services available after training is completed. The training is best thing we could have done for our girl Lola and our family.

We were dealing with food & high value treat /toy aggression, leash & barrier aggressions, and their coming on call (especially when chasing rabbits were more fun situations than coming to mom & dad) was unreliable at best. Enter Kendra at Canine Peace of Mind. Kendra worked with us on the best board & train program for each of them, customizing their 'stay' schedules based on progress and behavioral shifts. We sent both our dogs to CPM from Sept 2018 - Oct 2018. Kendra knows how tough it is to leave your 'kids' for that extended period of time (because she's done it too!) and made sure to send us picture and video updates on how each of them were progressing. Seeing the quick process made the distance so worth it. Fast forward to picking our pups up on handover day and the difference was remarkable. But it was on us to take those skills & discipline home with us. A couple months into having them home (Jan of this year), we recognized we still needed help (user error!) and Kendra did a house call, free of charge, to help us in reigning in & tightening up their training & our/their behaviors. What an immense help as we saw immediate change and are continuing to build that owner/dog trust together. Here's the from / to for our pups and our family: - From never being able to walk in public on a leash for fear of lashing out against another dog (even when across the street) to walking twice a day at heeling position for 2-3 miles a day, despite what we encounter. - From not having reliable recalls in the least, to trusting our dogs (and because we have grown into much more confident dog owners, trusting ourselves) to have them off leash. We love to go get the mail, take out the trash, etc. together with our dogs. - From breakfast & dinner times being HORRIBLE experiences due to fighting, low growling, & crate checking to having peaceful feeding times. - From having no control during high energy times to having a tool & command for them to go to a dedicated 'place' in any room to calm down and give each other (and us) space. I could go on. But what I would say is if you are encountering any of the above issues, please consider Canine Peace of Mind and their board & train programs. As working professionals that knew we didn't have the time or expertise to dedicate in order to get our pups where they needed to be, we are so happy we did. It has transformed the time we get to all spend together from dread to time that we look forward to because it's happy & enjoyable (which is why we all got these guys in the first place, am I right?). They also offer day care & boarding. We have taken them up on boarding a few times as we know that they get a bit more attention than any standard boarding and they are held accountable to their training just as much there as they are at home.

The convenient Wheaton location of the facility is great for daycare and they also allow for half-day daycare too. Very flexible scheduling. When I pick my dog up, I can tell that she's received personalized attention from the staff and that she has been well cared for. Often she's been able to work one-on-one with a staff member for nearly all of her half-day session. We also attend the group classes which are incredibly unique and let my dog build up practice interacting with other dogs in a way that reinforce new, good behaviors. My neighbors are thrilled with the progress almost as much as I am - my dog no longer automatically barks at everyone outside now and is able to make new friends. The in home training we did originally was incredibly valuable to get us started on the right foot. We need to do that again very soon! Is it the least expensive daycare and/or training in the area? No. But it is ABSOLUTELY worth it. When I leave my dog in the care of The Canine's Voice I know that she's going to be safe, loved, and will learn a few things while she's there. The classes are incredibly valuable too. The results speak for themselves.

As we walked to the gate, I heard everyone commenting... oh how cute... look at her prancing...hey look... and of course awwwww. When I stopped, Lucy sat. That was a sight to see when we stepped on the moving sidewalks. We sat in 2 chairs at the gate for 2 hours. I sat in one, Lucy in another. She sat or laid down, her choice. She never moved to see someone else. If they didn't come to her, it was their loss. A mother with a 1 year old girl sat next to us. Lucy paid no attention to the child but let the child work it's way to her and let the child giver her a pet. Sitting on the plane we were luck to have the middle seat free which I told Lucy she could have. She sat or laid in the seat very quietly and not once tried to visit the man in the isle seat. I took the window seat or so I thought... while we were on the ground, Lucy wanted to look out the window. The last hour of the flight Lucy started becoming a bit fidgety, after all she had been sitting for over 4 hours between the gate and flight. So during this last hour, Lucy decided she wanted to be mostly held by dad and sat in my lap. On the way home, we took a Lyft. It was a 20 min ride and she laid down next to me quietly. None of this could have been possible without the expert, dedicated training of Alex Brooks. Thank you Alex for creating the dog I asked for when I first brought her to you. Jerrold Goldberg

After 10 days of boarding two small dogs, one of my dogs has a wound infection on her side. I noticed it today after some of the scabbing started to bleed. I reached out AGAIN and spoke with the general manager. He's basically not taking any ownership of the issue and has excuses/reasons for all concerns I disclose. There was no sympathy or apology for what happened to my dog until I pointed it out to him. After I mentioned the lack of concern, there was an abundance of apologies and all kinds of concern. His priority was being on the defense and saying that it couldn't have happened during their time at Camp Bow Wow. This assumption was based on approximately 2 hours of reviewing camera footage and asking a handful of camp counselors who were currently working. Still waiting on the owner to call me. 7/25/19 11:00 am Update: The owner Linda finally returned my call this morning. Needless to say, it did not go well. Not once did she ask about how my dog was doing...even after I called her out on it. The comment she posted on Yelp was the first time she offered an apology. I had to ask for everything I prepaid, but she has not yet paid it like she noted. She said she will call me when the check is available to be picked up on her time schedule and at a different location. My Vet has not sent me her medical analysis yet. I told Linda that I wanted a chance to review it first when she asked me for permission to contact the vet. I'm not sure why she wants it anyway since she explained that is is extremely rare that they pay a vet bill. And for the record, I never asked them to pay my vet bill . For some reason Linda and the GM kept saying they won't. Still waiting on a call from Linda about picking up my check. (My money for services not yet used.)
