We had a wonderful experience with sending our first dog, Juneau there. She had big puppy energy and loved people! The staff was so kind and patient with her. We enjoyed the themed enrichment activities throughout the seasons, and monthly art projects for us to enjoy at home. We also loved the grooming options they have! Juneau was always so excited to head to camp, and was exhausted from all the play! We loved that they have rest time for the dogs in their own little kennels/space. It was great for our dog. Owner has been ignoring me after I picked up my dogs. It is Wednesday afternoon and I asked for a callback early Monday morning. The general manager also said he would have her call me within the hour at 11am today. It is approaching 2pm. After 10 days of boarding two small dogs, one of my dogs has a wound infection on her side. I noticed it today after some of the scabbing started to bleed. I reached out AGAIN and spoke with the general manager. He's basically not taking any ownership of the issue and has excuses/reasons for all concerns I disclose. There was no sympathy or apology for what happened to my dog until I pointed it out to him. After I mentioned the lack of concern, there was an abundance of apologies and all kinds of concern. His priority was being on the defense and saying that it couldn't have happened during their time at Camp Bow Wow. This assumption was based on approximately 2 hours of reviewing camera footage and asking a handful of camp counselors who were currently working. Still waiting on the owner to call me. 7/25/19 11:00 am Update: The owner Linda finally returned my call this morning. Needless to say, it did not go well. Not once did she ask about how my dog was doing...even after I called her out on it. The comment she posted on Yelp was the first time she offered an apology. I had to ask for everything I prepaid, but she has not yet paid it like she noted. She said she will call me when the check is available to be picked up on her time schedule and at a different location. My Vet has not sent me her medical analysis yet. I told Linda that I wanted a chance to review it first when she asked me for permission to contact the vet. I'm not sure why she wants it anyway since she explained that is is extremely rare that they pay a vet bill. And for the record, I never asked them to pay my vet bill . For some reason Linda and the GM kept saying they won't. Still waiting on a call from Linda about picking up my check. (My money for services not yet used.) read more

It was very hard leaving my baby dog for boarding for a week but this was the pace that was recommended. The front desk staff is always very friendly, accommodating, and informative. They make you feel comfortable leaving your pup. I loved watching my pup as much time as possible on the live camera during the day. I wish they had a camera too in their sleeping area. Most of the young men and the young lady that were with the dogs during the day were mainly nice with once in a while a pet here and there to the dogs. There were two particular young men that were dancing and playing with the dogs. If they knew how my heart got so happy when I saw that interaction with the pups. My baby dog did enjoy her time there during the day for what I observed. I requested to do some training during the week but that didn't go well. They only have one trainer which you don't meet. I never got any updates and when I called to check up on my baby. They said that the trainer didn't have any progress due to my dog being nervous. I got the feeling she didn't put enough effort to do the training or maybe she just is not that enthusiastic about her job. I personally would not recommend the training. Finally we got the grooming and nails clipping. Who ever did the nail clipping, I noticed later in the day that they hurt my baby. One nail was too short and bleeding was obvious. I understand that sometimes people make mistakes or accidents specially when dealing with dogs but a simple "sorry, we had a small incident". It kind of hurt a bit knowing my baby got hurt. In general I would definitely recommend boarding at this place for your pup except training and nail clipping. read more

Things I like- my dog nearly pulls my arm out of the socket to get in here- he loves playing with the other pups. I also love how exhausted he is when we get home. Things I don't like- I watch the videos all day long and no matter which worker is in with them, they ignore all the dogs and walk around like they are so bored. My 2 cents - if this is your job for 8 hours-make it worth it and interact with the dogs to give them a better day. read more

This place is the worst. I boarded my dog here for 5 days while on vacation and he got conjunctivitis. They did not tell me there was anything wrong with him and I only discovered it when I got home and saw his very red eye and pus oozing out of both corners. I had to take him to emergency vet which cost $224. Camp bow wow has yet to respond to his diagnosis or vet bill. They only said no one noticed his eye and it must be allergies. It clearly wasn't!!! Avoid like the plague if you care about your dog. read more

I have been bringing my corgi there for over a year for daycare. I have also recommended it to several people because my dog had such a good time going there. During the past two months, I was unable to bring him there because I had severe morning sickness. Apparently, I had a balance of $62 at this time, unknown to me. Instead of contacting me about it, they disclosed my balance to a neighbor who I am not close to. I found out from her that I had a balance, before anyone at Camp Bow Wow attempted to contact me. When they did finally email me, I promptly paid my balance. I was really disappointed that they would chose to tell someone who is an acquaintance at best I have a balance, before they even attempt to let me know. The manager on the phone assured me his staff wouldn't do that- obviously they did-- I didn't tell this neighbor I had a balance I didn't know about. At the very least, they could have owned up to their mistake. Due to this lack of professionalism and refusal to really take responsibility, this is no longer a place I recommend or go to. read more

I would never in my life allow my dog to return to Camp Bow Wow. All of the below was mentioned in an email to management: 1. Finnegan (our golden retriever) came home smelling like feces. Not the saying "he smelt like sh*t", actual feces. I was gagging in the car on the way home. When I expressed this in my email to management I was told its because he is a long haired dog and they tend to smell worse and also blamed.. the weather... Some context, Finnegan has been in day care 4 days a week since he was just a few months old (we had to find a new place once we moved - we LOVED his old day care). He has NEVER come home from his prior location smelling of feces. Is some smell expected? Of course - but not fecal matter. They further told me that if I had told them sooner about the smell I could have requested he be wiped down at the end of the day. Problems with that: How could I know he was going to come home smelling like poop prior?, "Wiping him down" would not rid the smell of FECES, that's not a solution. You can also see how filthy the outdoor areas are on the live stream. 2. I went in one day to drop Finn off and a staff member walked into the front and very nonchalantly mentioned that another dog was bleeding. In the email back I was told it was two dogs that lived together that got too aggressive but the owner was notified etc. THAT is not my issue (though, regardless of them living together they should not allow any type of aggressive behavior), but my issue is that no one reacted when they said the dog was bleeding. No one moved and the girl who brought that info to the front just stood up there talking for the remaining time I was there which was several minutes. 3. The initial "test" was a mess. I was told Finn was a little anxious but passed. Want to know why he was anxious? The "test" is to allow multiple dogs into a room (around 10) with him at a time while he was on a leash. He has 0 leash aggression, but obviously is going to get anxious while he is restrained and multiple other dogs are running at and around him. 4. Boarding - no one is there at night and they go into their crates around 6 (if not 7 at the latest) which is outlined in their documentation but that is incredibly early for dogs to just sit in a cage that they then have to poop and pee in all night. I saw no point in boarding him if its that early and no one is there for emergencies. 5. Finnegan's Demeanor - I have never seen Finnegan anxious prior to daycare. He stood next to my leg and sometimes had to get coerced into leaving my side. This is odd for him as he is extremely social and loves people. Their rebuttal was that he needed to get used to camp. He is a very well socialized dog that has been in a group of 80 dogs on a regular basis. I was told I can't compare two places... sure. 6. Finn came home panting and then drank a full bowl of water every time he went. He has never done this after full days at his last daycare. I was told that there are communal water bowls throughout the areas that are refilled and he is given his own (1 single time) during his break mid day. We've taught Finn not to drink from communal bowls cause he gets upset tummy's a lot. His old boarding place would notice this about dogs and ensure they had their own drink breaks to make sure none overheat. If dogs are not willing to drink from a communal water bowl, staff should realize that 1 water break is not enough. That would mean Finn had not had water for 3-4 hours between pick up times. That is not very accommodating or safe as in the summer he could very easily overheat (which is a common cause of death in dogs). If staff is genuinely paying attention to this, then I am confused if they simply don't care or don't know better - which is concerning. Our experience was awful and the emails back from management were not helpful and simply rebuttals. I will never be bringing our dog back here. Had the most wonderful experience at Camp bow wow in Elmhurst! Megan and Angela treated my dogs Georgia and Beau like they were their own! Megan and Angela were so kind after we haven't been their in a while due to moving. They made me feel comfortable right away while explaining some changes that have been implemented since we left! They were even kind with regard to my dogs allopecia and offered suggestions to keep him warm and comfortable while he's a camper. This is the second time I've boarded my dog at Camp Bow Wow and on both occasions, 8 weeks after boarding, my dog was diagnosed with Kennel Cough Beware! Lots of dogs are here. Kennel Cough usually shows up 6-12 weeks after exposure. My dog stayed here for 10 days at the end of June and he has not been to any other kennel, daycare or around other dogs since then. He's a small dog and stays home as I work from home. Kennel cough is airborne. All they have to do is breathe it and they get it. Beware. Bordatella does not protect them against all strains of "kennel cough". Check to make sure enough air filters are on at all times and petAirapy disinfectant are being used. read more

If you care about your dog at all, do NOT take them to camp bow wow in Elmhurst/villa park. I have had many experiences with dog boarding and this place is by far the worst. The staff does not care about the dogs. The two times I have gone, I got my dog back with wounds on his stomach. When I told the staff, they did not have any sympathy or apologize. Instead, they stated "dogs play rough sometimes." I personally want my dog to come back to me in the same condition I dropped him off. They should watch the dogs better. I boarded my 2 senior dogs with them for 5 days only to find out that they incorrectly input my dogs' names in their system and subsequently medicated the wrong dog for 5 days (and did not properly medicate the one who NEEDED the medication). NOTE: MY DOGS WERE WEARING COLLARS AND TAGS WITH THEIR NAMES AND MEDICAL CONCERNS WRITTEN ON THEM. This lapse in medication resulted in a condition that required a vet visit. One dog was given medication not prescribed to her. The other didn't get her meds and was miserable - itchy, swollen, red, irritated skin; hair loss - not to mention, she smelled yeasty (even after being given a bath). The resulting veterinary bill that was significantly more than the cost of the boarding, I was promised by the manager that the vet bill would be paid and the cost of boarding would be refunded. Theboarding bill was refunded, but the owner refuses to pay the vet bill as she concluded that the it was "above and beyond". My Dogs did NOT receive the care I was promised when I dropped them off and ended up worse for the wear after their stay. Nor did I receive the actions I was promised in order to help care for my dogs! I do not recommend Camp Bow Wow! It's NOT SAFE and they do not keep their word! read more

My Pomeranian Abby had her boarding interview last Saturday, and I couldn't be more pleased with how she seemed to be treated there. :) She is a senior dog and only about 8 pounds, so of course I am nervous to have her around other pups. When I picked her up she seemed happy, the staff gave her a ton of attention, and she slept the rest of the day after getting home! The facility is clean and very accommodating for small dogs. (private tea cup yard) The staff is also really friendly, and I love that you go home with a d-tails report. I could tell by Abby's first day picture that she enjoyed her day. I will definitely be scheduling my next boarding appointment with Camp Bow Wow. read more

Cool that this place has live webcams but... however while I was just looking online at them, the employees don't use any form of body blocking, or separation of dog playing when noticing dogs are not into the level of playing the second dog is trying to be involved in. Dogs were jumping on the gates, and the employee in the one room was just walking back and forth swinging his hands, again not stopping anything from even the ten minutes I was watching screen recorded. I started to take Hayes my 9 month old puppy to Camp Bow WOW a couple of weeks ago. My niece from Boulder CO recommended it. She takes her two dogs there in Boulder. I found one in Elmhurst and I am so happy I did. We have signed Hayes up for a couple of half days weekly. Hayes loves the other dogs and handlers. Since covid, we have not been able to socialize her very well. The staff have been great with her and she gets to meet all different kinds of dogs. We are very happy with this facility. read more

We have had great experiences at Camp Bow Wow. This past summer, our dog Cairo had a sleepover for three nights and he was happy and healthy when we picked up (and bathed!). We love being able to see him on the web cams and feel very comfortable that he is well cared for. We recently tried another daycare closer to home and won't make that mistake again! When your dog has a great day and is worn out that makes your day all the better. We found Camp Bow Wow after a recommendation from our previous dog daycare owner had to close her business. She loved their business plans and how they mapped put their facility. I thought ok, cool. If she likes it I'll check it out then. It's a beautiful, a wonderful new daycare the latest runs efficiently and has up to date monterioring systems for dog owners, like myself, who love to check up on their pooch many times a day. The staff is kind, loving, and genuinely care about their fur campers. I have a huge dog, a crazy wild great dane puppy who doesn't wear out easily. When I take her to Camp Bow Wow, she comes home, loved, happy and exhausted. It's well worth for us it to purchase a package, she goes sometimes 2/3 times a week. Their app makes it all that easier to book a daycare day or boarding. I highly recommend Camp Bow Wow. read more

I would like to warn future customers about the service we received and how they treat dogs that "get anxious" in their facilities. Our dog did their trial day and passed it. He even went to camp another day before his stay at their recommendation. Both times they praised them, had no complaints and told us he did well with other dogs. We left him there during the Holidays, while we were visiting family out of the country. We had limited connection to the internet, so on the second day of his stay, I called and asked how he was doing. Again they was nothing but praises. They mentioned he did get excited and had to give him time-outs, but he was getting along well with other dogs and was having a good time. When we finally got internet connection and were able to see for the next days that he was always in a room by himself. I checked regularly and not once did I see a "counselor" with him. I called and was told that he was too anxious and for the past day, he had to be put alone. But that somebody was going every few hours to spend a couple of minutes with him. I was never informed of this, even though they had our contact information (phone, emergency contact in the US, email, etc), and even when I called in to check in on him. It wasn´t until I complained that they told me he was not doing ok. I understand that not all dogs will do well in this kind of environment. But my complaints are that if they know this, they should have procederes in place in order to avoid stressing out dogs and customers. The people whom I talked on the phone with, were all very rude, very contradicting (everybody told a different story) and they admitted they did were overwhelmed during the holidays and did not have enough personnel to take care of dogs that were not conforming to their expectations. Even if these dogs had "passed" their test before. My other complaint is about Linda, the owner. She was very rude when I finally talked to her, days after our dog was picked up earlier than planned. Apparently there is never a manager on the site. Linda was extremely rude, and is lacking a customer relation education. The only thing they kind of did well, was that they refunded me for the nights he did not stay there. I warn other customers about their service. They offer one thing, and when the dog does not behave the way they want him too, they do a complete 180. read more

We have always had a great experience here but I love the staff here even more after our dog's most recent visit. Our dog Bella became suddenly sick while boarding with them recently and the staff could not have been more loving and attentive to her while my husband and I hurried back to pick her up and take her to the vet. Not only did they keep her comfortable with lots of extra love, they kept us calm and informed of how she was doing through numerous phone calls. We are so grateful for them; to know that they really care about our dog as they would their own gives us so much peace of mind! This was our first time at Camp Bow Wow and it was great! My dog is still a little unsure and shy, but they recognized that right away and put her with the calmer group of dogs. It's great to watch them on the webcam - it's not a crazy place with lots of dogs barking and running around. They pretty much just hang out and chill with the staff camp counselors. I LOVE that the camp counselors are ALWAYS watching the dogs and are in there to break up any fights if something happens. The counselors also will pet the dogs sometimes, which is so cute and I love that they actually will interact with the dogs. The web cam feature is awesome for a few reasons. One - it's great having the app to watch from a phone. Two - it adds an additional layer of accountability to the staff when they are on webcam. Not that it's needed, because I hope that they screen their candidates very well, but it's nice to see them interact with the dogs and how the dogs interact back. Love to see the camp counselors being affectionate with all the doggies. The dogs do get a break in the middle of the day and again at 4ish, which is awesome just to let them rest for an hour or two and so the staff can sanitize. Such a good idea, and exactly what I was looking for in a place. The whole interview process was very straightfoward and easy. They really want to make sure your dog will thrive in this kind of environment. Final note, the prices are pretty reasonable and similar to what you'd pay anywhere else, ranging from $20-$40 for the day. You get what you pay for, and the price is well worth it. As a first time camper with Camp Bow Wow, I definitely noticed a difference in my dog when we returned from boarding him. He did not seem stressed or anxious at all when I picked him up and went home and experienced an easy transition back to his normal routine. They also have cots in the dens so that the dogs are not laying on the hard floor, in which my dog experienced pressure sores on his elbows in the past from laying on hard surfaces. I'm writing this review as the owner of an ACTIVE, YOUNG dog. Today was the third time Ollie has visited Camp Bow Wow. The first, for his orientation, came and went with nothing to report besides that he was a good boy and welcome back. Picking him up after the second visit, the manager, Robert, reported that Ollie never took a break, and was very active. Today, after dropping him off around 12:15 PM, my husband and I watched him being energetic and pursing play with a few pups before being pulled by the collar a few times and being put "in a time out". Ollie has no idea why he's being removed from the situation. He is not aggressive, 100% submissive (rolls on his back during situations with dominant dogs) and visits Tailgate for Dogs in Elmhurst for daycare and boarding one or more times per month. He was placed alone during these "time outs" a few times, before my husband called to ask if there was something wrong. At this point, the manager requested that Ollie be picked up from Camp Bow Wow. When I called to ask what was going on and why Ollie was being put in time out, I was told Ollie has too much energy for the other dogs, and due to the fact that he doesn't go there routinely (twice a week like other dogs), he is unfamiliar and has bursts of energy that the other dogs who are only used to playing with each other can't handle. Unless every dog that goes there is old and lethargic, I find it hard to believe that my dog is the only one with this type of energy. Even if that were the case, staff should be trained to not pull the dog away by their collar while the dog is being his regular, playful self. I would think Ollie assumed he was doing something wrong and that's why he was being punished, when in fact I send him there to socialize and get his energy out. I don't NEED to send him there. He would be perfectly fine cuddled up on the couch. My final thought is that I also find it hard to believe that the majority of dogs there are not as playful as mine. If you look through the live cams on any given day, I've seen staff using water bottles to squirt dogs who to me appear to be doing nothing but engaging in friendly play. I tried to keep this review factual and serve as a warning for dog parents of high energy dogs such as our terrier mix. You will be better off sending your dog to another doggy day care in the area, such as Tailgate for Dogs which we recommend, to keep up with your dogs high energy needs. I gave them two stars instead of one because even though I disagree 100% with the way Ollie was treated and the way this establishment is run, the employee who I spoke with originally redirected me to the manager who was calm and respectful when reporting the situation. read more

My dog gets nervous when meeting new people, so I was hoping Camp Bow Wow would help him warm up and they've done just that! I'm very satisfied with how they conduct their business, too.
