My husband and I went down to Wholesale Candy World on a Friday afternoon. It was tough to find…read moretime to go, as it is in a warehouse district nowhere near my daily route, and it is not open on nights or weekends. We were searching for some retro candy for an upcoming event. The warehouse isn't huge, but it is big for a candy store. It is really for buying cases of bulk candy. It is not a cutely displayed vintage candy store, but it also does not claim to be. It was a really good place to get the bulk of the candy we needed for the event. Everything was sold in large amounts. We picked up some items such as jawbreakers, candy cigarettes, Big League Chew, and Now and Laters. I did wish some times came in more of a variety pack and that others came in slightly smaller portions. We did decide to buy some of the items elsewhere because we simply didn't want that much of one flavor of a certain type of candy. I think it is a great place to buy candy in bulk, though I do think the variety could be a bit better. All in all, it was a useful trip for us to prepare for our event.

I had so much fun exploring Tokyo Central & Main! What makes this place unique is that it's…read moreactually made up of three separate stores--two grocery markets and one dedicated to merchandise featuring everything from adorable Japanese plushies and cookware to cosmetics, electronics, and so much more. And yes...I had to explore all three! Both markets were bright, clean, and incredibly well organized. One of my favorite sections was the tea aisle. As someone who absolutely loves tea, I was in heaven. Their selection is huge, with everything from loose-leaf teas to powdered varieties that you don't typically find in traditional American grocery stores. I'll definitely be back to stock up on a few new favorites. I originally stopped in to purchase a matcha whisk set, but it was a little more than I wanted to spend. That didn't stop me from finding a few treasures, though! I ended up browsing the cookware section and picked up a beautifully designed set of reusable chopsticks along with beginner-friendly M-shaped training chopsticks. One unexpected highlight was getting to try a hand massage machine. It applies pressure to acupuncture points throughout your hand, and wow--it felt amazing! I'm seriously considering going back just to buy one. The produce section also looked fresh and inviting, so I can definitely see myself returning to shop for groceries. Plus, since my sons love anime, I already know they'll enjoy checking out the merchandise store with all the fun Japanese collectibles and character items. Whether you're looking for authentic Japanese groceries, unique kitchenware, specialty teas, or fun gifts, Tokyo Central & Main is absolutely worth visiting. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend stopping by--you'll probably leave with more than you planned, just like I did! And you already know you can always thank me later

Thought I'd hop in there to see if I could find some sort of cough drop or lozenge just in case I needed it during the theater experience. Also I was wearing a T-shirt that was somewhat political and I saw the owners' reaction when I walked in and his eyebrows reacted possibly involuntarily. Turns out they did not have anything cough drop related except peppermint or Lifesavers-type candy - which seemed weird in a place that has floor to ceiling nothing but candy but OK. So I got some peppermint and a couple of Laffy Taffy's, two little games and headed to the counter. The girl was polite and then the guy with the eye brow came over and told her how much to charge (none of the candy had price tags) - turns out my regular sized Laffy taffy's cost me four dollars each!!! WTF? They made conversation with me like "are you going to the theater tonight?" "I hear it's really good!" blah blah blah, asked me if I wanted a receipt ME: no thank you ME (thinking): there's always Yelp How do they get away with this? oh yeah we live in a capitalist society. go team!
