The guys were wonderful and had great service. They have most of the old school candy and a lot of the newer candy. It's located right next door to the Regal in Escondido. Pay less here and then go see your movie . Not too big of a store but they got enough goodies for everyone in your group to choose from. I was excited they had Chico Sticks. I didn't know what Dubai chocolate was or that it was a viral sensation until I saw the message board outside of Candyland and decided to inquire about it. The lady working, possibly the owner, couldn't have been nicer, explaining how they make it in house and she gave me a small sample. It comes in milk chocolate or dark chocolate and I can see what the fuss is about, it is delicious! I plan on going back to get one for my friend to try. I also asked about a particular candy bar that they used to sell, Uno Bar, and she explained that it has been hard to order, but is working on it. Here you may mix and match all the bins and pay one price by weight. Also many harder to find candy bars. JOE'S CANDYLAND Accessibility: this place is right next to the movie theater so usually there are lots of cars in the parking lot. You may have to park a little farther out but it's all paved, flat ground from the parking lot into the store. No restroom available. Experience: first off, I want to say that the owner, Joe, is the nicest guy. He really loves his job and is passionate about it and you can tell. He greets everyone coming into the store and explains how things work (COVID safely)...for example: he has pre-packaged bags of Candies but if you want to get a bag of different mixed candy you have to ask him to make it for you so there aren't tons of customers reaching their hands in the candy bins. That's a great idea on Joe's part. Joe wears a mask although masks are not required in CA right now and I'm thankful for that! He cares about his customers. There are all kinds of candies here that you can't find other places, and lots of these will have you reminiscing about your childhood. They also have drinks! There are fun toys all over the store and although Joe doesn't sell them yet, he said he is planning to sell toys in the near future at this store, along with candy. What a great place and Jason is a great owner! He just bought the place from "Joe" in June 2023. Really nice guy and even willing to order special flavors (like jelly bellies) in advance! His hours are unusual - generally 2 pm -8 or 9 pm except for Monday and Wednesday when it's closed. Mostly that's because his primary business is from the movie theatre next door. Hours are stated online as Tuesday through Sunday open at 12pm. But if you go there, there is a hand written sign on the window saying that they open at 2pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and open at 12pm on Friday though Sunday. A very poorly run business, in an awesome location. We stopped in to Candy Land to get some candy before our movie. The selection was very uninviting as a dozen+ containers were completely empty and a dozen more would have you scraping up the last few pieces of candy that were left. I asked the store attendant why the bins were so poorly stocked. He seemed speechless at first and then said they had a lot of people come through that day. I then asked why the bins weren't being refilled. He became defensive and said with an attitude, "we don't get deliveries every day". I figured the problem was lazy employees with a lack of management, so I asked who the manager was and he informed me he was the owner! I was shocked!! So much so that I think my response was, "wow, that's unbelievable". The owner should hire a manager, so at least someone might have the skill set to order and stock enough product to support their volume of business. Oh My Lanta! I had no idea they have Mexican candy and the option to add chamoy! They also have gummy bears with chile. You know that store in the mall...every mall, that has candy lining the walls, shelves and seemingly the floors? This is the same type place...just someone got smart and put it next to a movie theater rather than in a shopping mall... now if they only sold smuggling supplies as well I could get the candy into the theater!
