Yes! They dragged me into the candy store. Crazy to think! This store is jammed packed with candy. The barrels are the fun part! I have a little who LOVES Salt Water Taffy and this store was a hit. She got her candy and we went to pay. The cashier asked if we wanted to round up for something, not sure she was very clear, but the first response from my kid was no and then I said no as well. When I mentioned I said no she stated I said yes, indeed I said no. When I said I want the full change back she replied well, I'll have to call my manager and told me to step to the side. Even the gentleman behind me spoke about it and said "no is no, no matter the amount". The manager was very nice and mentioned something about an automatic button. That's crazy that they just go ahead and do whatever. How many other people has this happen to. Not cool! Ultimately it was a great experience, but have to watch that. read more

Step into the Candy Barrel and soak up the nostalgia that comes with being delightfully overloaded with all your favorite brands from childhood piled into baskets and on shelves for a retro Willy Wonka vibe. Cheerful staff rings up classics from Cow Tales to Toxic Waste. Not sure why it got a few low reviews, but to counter some of those, this isn't meant to be an artisanal chocolatier. And not sure why people would think that. It's classic brands along with specialty ones you can't get at the grocery store. It's definitely on the pricey side, but that's just what you get in the touristy Stockyards area. Its prices are in line with other retail shops in the area. So go, bring a credit card, and just enjoy being a kid in a candy store. :-) read more

Be careful Shopping here! They will steal from you! I took my grandson here on Saturday and my card was used for an item I did NOT purchase. I purchased two items ( a toy and a candy ) but my card was charged for a 3rd Item after I left the store. Their phone goes to a disconnected number, so I turned it over to my bank as fraudulent transaction. Please be aware and check your cards for fraudulent charges! read more

Located in Stockyards Station indoor mall, this candy store provides different bulk candy for visitors to the Fort Worth Stockyards. Most of the candy is located in wooden barrels, and all are individually wrapped. Everything is $3.75 per 1/4 pound (so $15 per pound). My mom ended up buying sesame crunch candy. The trick in these sort of places is to buy a large variety (i.e. single pieces) of many of your favorites. read more

I spent $21.90 on various candy to include some bulk cans of various flavors of salt water taffy, Mary Jane's, and strawberry filled hard candy. I was charged $4.00 for the bulk candy but it was not in my bag when I got home. Every phone number listed for this place on line has been disconnected. DON'T SHOP THERE. It's expensive to start with but when you don't get what you paid for it's even worse. read more

What a fun store to turn any adult into a kid again. There were barrels of taffy in a world of flavors, hard candy and all the sweetness of childhood. There was also shirts with funny sayings for all ages. Trinkets that made you think of friends. Just overall a fun place to get a taste of your youth. read more

I got charged $15.00 for two small pieces of candy. I don't know if that's normal or if they hiked up their prices for all the people coming in for the solar eclipse, but that's waaaay too much. I thought the guy say $9 and change (which was still too much) - the place was so crowded and loud, I couldn't hear him very well. Checked my card later, and it was $19 and change (I bought other things with the two pieces). I'm not saying don't go buy anything. I'm just saying pay attention to the amount they are asking you to pay! read more

This candy shop is really cute because there are tons and tons of barrels of candy. Probably your typical candy shop, but it was a fun place to go to for dessert. If you're here with children exploring the Stockyards or going to the rodeo, this might be a great place to explore with them and keep them entertained when doing "more adult" things. You walk in and get a small barrel/bucket and can fill it as much as you want. We filled it only with taffy because the other candy barrels were full of candy that you could get anywhere - Skittles, Airheads, Tootsie Rolls, etc. They have probably around 30 different flavors of taffy and about 98% of them are labeled. There are a couple of barrels that I had no idea the flavor because the label was ripped off at some point. After you are done, you go to the cashier and he dumps it onto the scale. You pay $11.00/lb which could be very overpriced if you opt to get your typical candies, however it is typical for taffy prices. This shop is located in the Stockyard Station, across the street from the rodeo and is towards the middle of the area. Staff was also friendly and welcoming. read more

Cute shop, but overpriced. Stopped in while visiting the stockyards because I was craving something sweet. Turned out not to be the best decision of the vacation. We stopped in on New Year's Eve - after the 4:00 cattle run. There seemed to be a rush all of a sudden, and the workers seemed stressed out. I'm not sure if they were trying to close early or on time, but they weren't in the best mood. Either way, I got my candy fix, and had plenty for the trip home (and boy did I need it). read more

The Candy Barrel is one of my favorite candy stores, because you can pick exactly what items you love the most, and buy as little as one (or one pound!). They have a wide variety of yummatude, including a HUGE selection of salt water taffy. They also have lots of international candies (chocolate covered ants anyone?) and "hard to get" things like Mary Jane's. The prices are slightly high (about $7.50 a pound for the bulk items), but the selection and service more than make up for it. Also, always ask the cashier if you can try one of the free samples, they have a whole area of just free things you can nibble on! If you are brave, I recommend the Cayenne Flavored Salt Water Taffy. I've seen better candy stores but this one was decent. It's just your regular neighborhood candy store so don't expect anything more than that. They carry all the old classics and sold some new candy I haven't seen before. It's pretty chaotic inside but it's a nice kind of chaos. Hopefully all the people meant there's good product turnover. Yay for freshness..right? I liked that they kept all their exotic candies in one area. That made it easy for me to try something different. Walking in you're greeted by the familiar scent of mixed candy, like a bag of Halloween candy. All the candies are in barrels and while there is a lot of candy, there's a limited supply of specialty candy, this is pretty much the same stuff you can get at a grocery store candy aisle. The walkways are pretty narrow so if there are a lot of kids running around or strollers or wheelchairs, you're at a dead stop. Come to think of it, it's probably a bit of a hazard for those in motorized chairs... Anyways, the cherry on top was the way the cashier called us over. It was starting to get a little busy and we were next, he said "Next in line, go over there (pointing) and I'll help you" which was demanding and we had a good laugh about it but he was so rude, you could tell he hated his job and didn't want to be there. Way to embarrass us with our visitor! If I was paying for candy, I would have just left it at his counter and walked out. P.S. The whole back wall is layered with salt water taffy. Although, I'd be careful, some of that candy (especially at the bottom of the barrels) have probably been sitting there for quite some time... read more
