They have an amazing selection of taffy. Lots of unique flavors. I had never been to a store like this so it was a nice experience. In addition to this, they also have quite the selection of other candies. Lots of novelties. Towards the back they have a row full of chocolate bars. We picked up some taffy, some bubblegum cigarettes, a Wonka bar, some Mazapan, some chocolate bars, and a bunch of other mini candies!

Such a cute store in Pier 39 with lots of taffy and nostalgic candy options. Priced according to the touristy area it is. I loved that you could grab a bucket and get your own mix, or grab a mixed bag -- the option I chose for a last minute white elephant gift under $10. Also grabbed some delicious, perfectly puckering sour belt candy.

Barrels and barrels of all sorts of candy!! You definitely gotta church this spot out if you have a sweet tooth! They have all kinds of candy that bring you back to when you were a kid. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Grab yourself a basket and make sure you take some candy back for family and friends!

They will not let my service animal in! I'm reporting them to the ADA as soon as I finish my amazing fields trip with my 5 girls. I was only in there to supervise them and because they sniff the candy, there not serviced. I wanted to show them the letter but the mean lady said she will call security. But ambience was nice, they just got to hire better people that will treat persons of disability appropriately.

3.5 out of 5 The selection of taffy was amazing! The interesting ones were coconut curry, POG taffy, banana cream pie and peaches and cream. It was a lot of fun picking out the flavors to bring back for my son. However, the other candies were very expensive. It was $4.99 for a special flavored KitKat bar and other special bars were around $4.99 - $6.99 which is a little too steep. It was around $14.99 for a pound of taffy. Which is a bit expensive but not too bad. I ended up spending around $17 for just over a pound. It was well worth it for all the cool flavors I chose. The guy at the cash register wasn't too friendly. Thought he would be happier or a bit friendly since this is a candy shop catering to kids. After getting the candy, I recommend going to the end of the pier where you can see a big heart statue, Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge. It's a great place to snap some photos and videos.

A must-see if going to Pier 39 There's so much variety when it comes to candy and so many differently flavors of taffy Good choice for affordable souvenirs as taffy is a staple and there are so many flavors that you can find a unique flavor for everyone you're buying for Perfect place to release your inner child as their is a nostalgic vibe and so many different candies to fawn over

Looking to get your sweet tooth fix, this is the place to get your sugar rush on! Convely located in Pier 39 at the end of the Pier... all the way in the back. They have every single.kind of salt water taffy you can think of, or your heart desires. The barrels are step up so you can walk around and have candies on the left and the right. Prices are for a portion of a pound, so chose wisely as it can add up quickly!

So. Much. Taffy. You will love this candy store if you like taffy!! Even though I don't, we had a great time viewing all the different types of candies - they have a great selection of random candies, indulging Japanese matcha Kit Kat, hello Kitty candies, etc. We never give the kids candies, but since we were in the candy store, they got it each pick one they really wanted! So special!

I'm not a big fan of taffy, but when my sister came back from her trip to San Francisco, she brought back a bag full of them. Looking through the pile, I grabbed a few for myself. I didn't try any until I got home. The ones I picked out were fruity, and some were spicy. I really liked the one that had chili in it because it tasted like Mexican candy. Usually taffy sticks to my teeth, but these were soft and not as sticky.

Taffy galore, name your flavor they usually have it. They have other assorted candies as well. If you've got a sweet tooth, come on over.

Barrels and barrels on salt water taffy can be found in this place. Lots of your old favorite flavors and some interesting new ones. Watch out for those upper shelves... didn't know there were so many x-rated versions of candy paraphernalia.

Located at the very end of Pier 39 in San Francisco, the Candy Baron opened its door back in 2003 and it was no surprise that it became a huge success. Visitors of all ages enjoy the endless flavors of salt water taffy, old classics, novelty goods, and sweets from all over the world. Salt water taffy assortments range from the typical banana, green apple, passion fruit, peppermint, & vanilla. Some out of the norm flavors are xtreme hot, maple bacon, gingerbread, hot chocolate, chili mango, & buttered popcorn. Old classics that you aren't able to find regularly: Chick-O-Stick (crunchy peanut butter candy with coconut) Mary Janes (peanut and molasses candy bits) Abba Zabba (taffy with pb center) Big Hunk (peanut chunks covers with sweet nougat) Bit-O-Honey (almond bits covered in honey flavored nougat) Sunkist Fruit Gems (fruit flavored jelly candies) Novelty goods (whether they are a blast from your past, invoking childhood memories or a whimsical items from modern times) are an absolute must! Choc-Aid (chocolate bar shaped in bandaid form) Cinnamon Toothpicks Harry Potter Bean Boozled Jelly Beans Wack-O-Wax (flavored wax meant to be chewed and enjoyed like gum) All In all, a nice to store to visit and enjoy especially if you are a salt water taffy fan. There are gummies and chocolates if you aren't into that sort of thing. The cost of things are on the more expensive side but it's well worth the price tag for old school treats that aren't so readily available at your normal department store.

Pier 39, spent $30 on sticky gooey salt water taffy. Corn syrup had separated, I've never had such disgusting taffy.

I would go to corner candy store for each school to buy my favorite candies through my formative years. Candies were also part of celebrations in the Mission involving a piñata .As an adult you will see me at See's when I get a sweet tooth craving. There is a place which sells chocolate from Switzerland and the Philippines and if you are sour because it's Monday or just everyday of the week in SF you should visit a place called Giddy. On Spring stroll in my old school stomping grounds I walked on Noe street and landed on Market at Giddy. Inside it's a candy store with lots of variety of gummies and licorice along with some international chocolate from the Ecuador and the Philippines. What you will also find a lot of varieties of candies which are very sour like some in SF. You will find lots of sour fizzy chewy cherries along sour mango belts. You will also find the classic sour cherry balls and berry sour foamy and sour strawberry and lemon butterflies along with a favorite from Sweden known as Bubs which is a sour strawberry and lemons skull gummy. Giddy is a good place to get sweet or sour. For me, it's always a shame when a longtime business shutters, but even more so when it's a spot I used to frequent when I was a kid! So, you can imagine how stoked I was when I heard that not only was a new owner going to be coming in to take on the space, but that they were going to keep just about everything about this place the same! If you ever visited the original Shaws, this place will look and feel more than a little familiar. From their signage, to their decor, to their range of offerings, so much of this place is just like its predecessor. Most importantly, of course, their offerings are no different from before either. While most folks, like me, mainly stop in for a scoop (or three) of their Mitchell's ice cream, Shaws is actually a candy shop, selling a variety of housemade fudges, chocolates, and confections along with candies from both well-known and lesser-known brands, like Tootsie Roll Pops, PEZ, and Nerds. -- GRASSHOPPER PIE ICE CREAM Despite how there are so many newer ice cream creations and flavors out there, this continues to rank as one of my favorites anywhere. The mint chocolate chip, Oreo, and fudge complement each other very well and the ice cream itself is so smooth and creamy - DELICIOUS! -- ESPRESSO TOFFEE CRUNCH ICE CREAM On the rare, RARE occasion that I don't get the Grasshopper Pie, this is what I typically get instead. The ice cream has a nice espresso taste to it with a good amount of toffee bits thrown in. Yet, much like the Grasshopper Pie, it's still not overly sweet either. -- DARK CHOCOLATE CARAMEL WITH SEA SALT...about $1 for my piece ($32 per pound) A worker mentioned this is her favorite candy here and I get it. While it was initially tough to bite (cold), it was perfect once it warmed up. The caramel was rich, smooth, not too sweet, and well complemented by the chocolate's bitterness and the bits of sea salt. -- ENGLISH TOFFEE WITH DARK CHOCOLATE - $3 for my piece ($32 per pound) This was terrific! The toffee had a nice, buttery flavor to it and a really good consistency - slightly thick, but not impossibly hard to crack. The nuts on the outside were great as well, but I do wonder if this might've been better with milk chocolate for some added sweetness. -- DUBAI CHOCOLATE...$7 Ehh. My least favorite thing I've tried, but the best Dubai chocolate I've had (I'm just not a fan of it/fudge). The chocolate portion was decent, albeit very stiff, while the chopped filo added some texture. That said, the pistachio portion felt really subtle. Along with how great their sweet treats are, the workers are just as awesome. Each time I've been here, they've always been super welcoming and it's cool how they'll chat it up with regulars and their kids, which adds to Shaws' small town/local charm (and that of West Portal at-large). Plus, it's awesome how they have a backroom space that you can rent for parties and to do activities, like candy making! Looking back at my review for the original Shaws, I'm surprised that I only gave it four stars. Not that it matters at this point, but if I had to guess, I would've bet good money I gave five. Also, I know some of my fellow Yelpers have dinged Shaws for not making their own ice cream, but I'm fine with it since A) they're a CANDY shop and B) coming here is far more convenient than heading to Mitchell's, unless I'm looking for a flavor they don't offer here (they usually have 15-20 of them). Not to mention the fact that I can also pick up some other sweets while supporting the newest iteration of one of my childhood favorites! FOUR AND A HALF STARS rounded up.

She acknowledged that my reaction was understandable and apologized to me, and when she saw how upset I was, she kindly processed a refund, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, a big, tanned male employee handled this situation extremely poorly. I had already purchased two coffees and bakery items before continuing to browse. While looking around, I picked up a bag of chips but had no free hands, so I placed it on top of my very full bag, clearly visible at all times -- not inside it. At checkout, this employee aggressively accused me of putting the item in my bag and repeatedly insisted that he "saw it," despite the fact that it was never hidden and I was fully willing to pay. I calmly explained the situation multiple times, but he refused to listen and continued to accuse me of stealing. He never apologized and continued to push the accusation. Ultimately, I was so upset by how I was being treated that I requested a refund, which was handled politely by the female employee, not by him. Being accused of theft without evidence, especially after already making purchases, was humiliating. The way I was treated felt racially biased, discriminatory, and deeply disrespectful. Loss prevention does not justify treating a paying customer this way. This experience left me extremely uncomfortable and disappointed.
