Candlelight Jewelers has been my go to for years. I cannot say enough good things about the brother & sister duo there. Very fair with everything! read more

I went in to ask about repairing a necklace. I was first told it wasn't worth fixing and to buy a new one, then told to come back in an hour because he might be able to repair it. When I returned three hours later, he said he hadn't looked at it and asked me to come back yet again. When I declined, he became upset and practically threw the necklace back at me. To make matters worse, he also commented that he "liked my jeans," which felt very inappropriate. I only have one day off and could have gone elsewhere for the repair. This was disappointing, especially given the store's good reputation. read more

Candlelight Jewelers is an excellent watch repair shop. They also sell jewelry, but the styles and designs are more budget oriented. They seem to draw an older clientele, so their selection makes sense. There is also a decent selection of entry level watches to choose from. It is located in Oak Mill shopping mall - an old school mall that houses a bunch of medical facilities. Parking can be somewhat difficult, so you may need to drive around the parking lot during peak hours to find a spot. The staff is pretty friendly and they often have their two family dogs hanging out in the shop. I have been to Candlelight a few times for watch service. They are very good for quick battery exchanges. I had the bezel on a nicer watch break and they were able to repair it in about 2 weeks. I provided the factory authorized Tag parts and they put it back together for me for around $50. If you take it to an authorized Tag Heuer repair shop the quotes were around $200. Check here for watch repairs as they are quicker and more reasonably priced than some of the higher end jewelers in the suburbs. read more

I have 5 watches that the batteries ran out all around the same time! Candlelight Jewelers came to the rescue! I made an appointment to come in that afternoon and got all of the batteries replaced! What a nice local business run by nice, thoughtful people! read more

Horrible service. Do not go here for anything! I came in to have my watch battery changed. The woman employee took my watch and began to try and take off the back of the watch to change the battery. After a few minutes she handed me the watch and said that it could not be serviced because there was no crown. She lost the crown in the watch, scratched the back of the watch, lost the crown of my watch, and then tried to lie and say the watch did not have the crown when I handed it to her. After taking this matter to the Niles Police department Candlelight Jewelers told me they would fix the watch but because of their lack of knowledge put me in contact with another business (MJ Watch Service) to fix the watch. I went to MJ Watch Service and they told me they would order a new crown. After waiting a month for a new crown for the watch I called and they told me it hadn't arrived yet. I waited and waited. I called monthly for 6 months and it became apparent that Candlelight Jewelers and MJ Watch Service were illegitimate businesses that scam their customers. I never received a new crown and my watch does not work. Stay away from these businesses! Beware of this business and it's shady practices. Go to a reputable and honest establishment. 0 out of 5 stars. read more

I went here as we very close to this jewelry and shop at Jewel often in this plaza. We wanted to get a broken chain on a necklace that my son wears which has his grandpa's ashes in it as a keepsake. My son whose 9 lost his grandpa last year and was heartbroken when he broke the chain. The lady there that answered the door said they usually do appointments only but she saw how sad he was about his necklace. She said I'll be right back 5-10 minutes later she comes back and fixed the broke clasps and said it's no charge because he was so cute about telling her his story. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice and quick she fixed this as I expected to leave it there for days and maybe be a costly repair. I will be coming back here for any repairs and if ever in the market for a new piece of jewelry. Highly recommend this awesome place, you made a boys day! read more

This review is solely for the help I received from the owner for a necklace I didn't even purchase from them. They do have some cute pieces in store, but I believe their crowd is 40s and older and the jewelry caters to that age group. However I do want to highlight that the owner fixed the lobster claw of a necklace that I didn't even buy from him. When I offered to pay he said "no cost"it just took him a few seconds to do so. In times like these of economic hardship even if it was just a few seconds he he needed to take-care of it and made sure my necklace was secure again. You do not find that kind of kindness nowadays. read more

I went to get batteries replaced. The sales woman was rude and acted like she was doing a favor by talking to me. The customer service is very poor and I do not recommend this place. read more

A stone on my engagement ring (not from this jeweler) fell out and I came to this store to have it replaced. I didn't know that the store is appointment only so I showed up and a lady came to the door to help me. After showing her the ring, the first question she asked me was if the ring is real. I was very taken aback by this because 1. It is real and 2. It was very unprofessional to me that she asked this question right off the bat. This lady also had an attitude that made it seem like I was an inconvenience to her. I would not recommend this jeweler, I will never return here. read more

Very fast and friendly service for replacing watch batteries. Call ahead of time because they are only open by appointment.

I have some mixed feelings about this place, and it's because of these mixed feelings that I give them them the dreaded one star. A few years ago, my lovely wife purchased matching watches for our anniversary from this very place. I love my watch. I'm a ridiculously sentimental sap too, but cut me some slack, my wife rocks and so does my watch. My wife had a good experience buying the watches from this place as well. If this were the end of the review, I would continue to walk through life with rose colored glasses. Sadly, I unceremoniously broke this watch when it took a matrix style tumble off the bathroom counter. Take one sentimental sap and mix in the shattered crystal pieces and what do you get? A dude kneeling in his bathroom going "full retard" like Tugg Speedman with tears made of crystal. I was freaken out people! After finally snapping out of it, I began my search on finding a high quality watch repair shop. I figured what I would need is a full on cleaning and crystal replacement. I placed quite a few calls and pretty much no one had the crystal to go with this watch and most wouldn't commit to a time frame. Some of the quotes I was getting back said it would take months. So, I went back to where this watch came from. My feeling was, they probably would not fix it in house and send it out. But, I get to support the local business that had up until this point made me quite happy and in turn get a face to match the service. A win win of sorts. They also said it would only take two weeks. Score! After a surprisingly short couple of weeks of waiting, I went in to pick up my watch. Upon inspection what did I find? The crystal was not sitting flat on top of the watch. It was slightly off, but noticeable to the naked eye. It was also identifiable by the the elevation change of the crystal against the bezel as you traced your finger in a circular motion around the face. I told the rep right then and there that something was wrong. He took a look with a lope and told me nothing was wrong. I told him to check again, and again he told me straight faced that nothing was wrong. He used a lope and saw no problems? Seriously? This polite banter ensued for a good fifteen minutes culminating with me telling them to do it again and I'll eat the cost. Yeah people, it came to that. I would eat the cost. The customer here was not right, but I wanted it done right. About a month later, double the time it took to fix it the first time around, I go to pick up my watch. Same problem but with a different result. How so? This time, there is a clear filler that was applied to where the crystal is sitting too low. To the touch it felt a lot like a clear silicone gasket material. I took a polishing cloth and began rubbing it off figuring it was just sloppy work. When I was done, there was the depression again! In exactly the same place as before! It felt like deja'vu but there was no Trinity to tell me that something had changed. He picked up the same lope, peeked through, and again told me nothing was wrong... Ultimately, I walked out of there with my treasured time piece with a crystal that is not sitting properly. Now when I look at my watch on my wrist, I see two things. One, my wife loves me and I love her. Two, I am never going back to this place again. read more

My husband bought a beautiful engagement ring from Candlelight. I know he didn't pick it himself, so I appreciate the team's expertise and advice. When it came to picking a wedding band, I didn't know what i wanted. They offered to scan my engagement ring & make a band to match. It was stunning & better than anything I could have picked. I'll take a trusted, family-owned establishment like this over a big chain any day. read more

They are hands down the nicest Jewelers that I have ever dealt with. Just kind people looking out for their customers first!

I cannot express how thankful my husband and I are with Laury. He took the time to listen to what we exactly wanted. He made a wax model and 3D model for our wedding bands and made sure everything was as unique as wanted. Our wedding bands are perfect and stunning. We went to several jewelers who were overpriced with custom designs until we ran into Candlelight..all we have to say is Candlelight Jewelers makes you feel that your request is the most valuable ever. Their prices are fair compared to all the other Chicagoland jewelers, especially for custom made Gold jewelry. Laury took the time to email or call for questions and concerns to create a perfect and unique piece. We have our heart set on this family owned business who deserve the best recognition not only on Yelp but on any Jewelry rating website. Thanks again for the unique wedding bands and the patience on creating the perfect day with the perfect piece. Jennie & Sander. read more

I highly recommend Candlelight Jewelers! After having kids my wedding and engagement ring no longer fit. I decided to try them on together one day and realized I could not get them off. A friend recommended I go to Candlelight to see if they could help. Unfortunately there was no way to remove them without cutting the bands. I was so upset by this but the woman helping me was so kind and helped me realize it wasn't the end of the world. I waited a little bit to have them repaired and eventually decided to redesign my rings. Candlelight helped me find the perfect setting for my current stone and then allowed me to trade in the remaining diamonds on the band toward an upgrade. They were so helpful and very reasonably priced. The rings were suppose to take about 3-4 weeks. They arrived early and I couldn't be happier!! This family owned business is a pleasure to work with. read more

I have to recommend this jewelry store based on the kindness they showed me fixing a piece of Kate spade costume jewelry. I came in hoping to get my necklace fixed after being told no by a couple of jewelers, that they don't fix costume jewelry. Not only did they fix it but wouldn't charge me for the repair. The owner must have spent a good 20 minutes working on it. I would come back for repairs or to purchase in a heartbeat!! read more

My wife has bought several watches and other pieces of jewelry here over the last 4 years. She also likes to support the local businesses. For some reasons the crystal on one of them has cracked 3 time in 2 years, twice in the last 5 months. I've worn watches for 50 years and never had a cracked crystal, even while working construction for most of that time, so this seems very strange to be happening. When I brought the watch in and expressed a concern over the fact that yet another crystal has cracked, the woman helping me was about as uninterested as you can get and didn't offer any solution or help. Wouldn't even consider that the company repairing it could have done a bad job. So now I'm looking for a different jeweler to spend my money. Very disappointed with the lack of concern and customer service. Jim R. read more

How would I best describe my experience with Candlelight Jewelers...in a word= HELL. Seriously, whoever I spoke with was shockingly rude. I called to get some ideas about what type of engagement ring would be in my price range and the lady I spoke with an absolute beast. Inpatient, insulting, and completely above listening to my questions. You'd think a buyer could call and be inquisitive without having their head chewed off. If I were a buyer I'd beware. Go somewhere else where you are catered to as opposed to crapped on. read more

I don't know where to begin.....I have never had a jeweler I have trusted more! The quality and the lengths that Laury will go to to get you want are bar none. I love every piece that we have ever gotten at Candlelight and have referred others, he treats them just as good! This is the only place I would recommend for jewelry, from inexpensive to very expensive. He even helps me come up with designs that are unique to me, and we do it together. Not to mention the compliments I always get!!! Class Act! read more

This place is amazing! Laury is a perfectionist with the work, easy to contact, and reasonably priced. He makes sure the customer is completely satisfied with the work, and he educates the layman in a non-pretentious manner. Laury is also incredibly accommodating, as he has met me at convenient alternative locations a couple times to pick up and drop off jewelry that had been getting work done. We will certainly be back to see him for our future jewelry needs! read more

Our son purchased an engagement ring from Candlelight Jewelers and we couldn't be more pleased with his purchase. Laury Rose, the owner, was so accommodating. Laury was given very specific parameters as to the type of diamond he was looking for. He found 6 different diamonds of various sizes and qualities. All were spot on. The transaction went very smoothly with stunning results completed in a timely fashion. His fiancée was thrilled with her ring!! Highly recommend for your jewelry purchases. read more

My family has actually been doing business with Candlelight for a very long time and they were recommended to me. We have been going to them for many years now and the service is amazing and so is the staff that works there. When we go there we are always greeted so personable and treated like a good friend as well as a customer. Laury was absolutely incredible. Candlelight jewelers was recommended to me by a very good friend of mine. I could not have been more happy with my decision to go to Laury. From the first time discussing what I wanted in regards to an engagement ring for my girlfriend he was extremely helpful. I was able to describe sort of the type of diamond that I wanted and my budget. I was then able to see a couple lose diamonds and my sister helped picked the right one. Then we went through the setting and the stones on the setting are incredible. After this I even choose the color of the prong, I felt very involved in the process and felt as if I had created this incredible ring. Lastly I received some 3D images of what the ring would look like before he started making it for me. My girlfriend was ecstatic when she received it and all our friends and family have been raving about it. We are most definitely customers for life. Thanks Laury! read more

I have really only dealt with Candlelight Jewelers when servicing watches, so this review is based on those experiences. I don't really recommend this place for anything more than a quick battery replacement or adjustment. Serious repairs should be carried out at another place. Their service leaves alot to be desired. Yes, they are not the most approachable people unless you know what you want and have some knowledge in the subject. They are terrible with call backs, and you usually have to do the calling back. I went in to see if I could get a different watch strap for one of my watches, and I was told, "Why would I want to do that? There is nothing wrong with your strap?" If you are looking to make money as a company, why are you talking someone out of a sale. Their repair man is alright, though don't take any high end piece, or antique piece, for him to fix. Chances are, you will be very disappointed. I brought in an antique Elgin watch and said I wanted a restoration on it, I got only eight hours after a full wind. I took the same watch to another repair man, who said he basically cleaned some parts, and didn't dissemble to do the restoration. Now the watch gets almost two days on full wind. They are quick with adjustments, or a quick battery change. However, if you havs a Swiss watch that is a quartz movement, do not take it hear. Some Swiss quartz's take different batteries which need to be ordered, and they will put in one that is a generic. I had an Omega X-33 which required a special battery, they argued with me that it didn't and the watch was dead again in three weeks. So, depending on the watch, you may want to take it elsewhere. Basically, use them when you are in a pinch, nothing more. I gave Candlelight two stars instead of one because I have never dealt with them and their jewelry. read more

my girlfirend and i started to go ring shopping and were very happy we came across candlelight. Laury the owner pleasantly and compassionately took his time to inform us of all the things which make up a diamond ring. He explained the coloring, grades, shape cuts and everything there was to know about engagement rings. We loved that we could design a ring for a price that we wanted. We found a band style we liked and he kindly got some shipments in that were closer to the width that we were looking for. From there we picked a centerstone and prong setting we liked. Laury was such a pleasure to work with and our happiness and satisfaction was his top priority. We never felt pressured during the whole process which was nice because this wasn't always the case at other jewelers we looked before here. I was happy to buy an engagement ring from an honest local family owned business. I will be going back to get my wedding ring and my soon to be fiance's wedding band. I wish I could leave more than 5 stars for candlelight because they exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend using them for your jewelry needs. read more
