The ambiance and scents which you evolved within the store aligned with the brand and fostered and excitement to be there especially on my last day visiting Arizona. We determined, i'd like the Scottsdale location , were comfortable remaining and taking on a project to create Our own custom lotions. Alex was very welcoming, patient, informative and encouraging to try different scents until we arrived at the combination we were comfortable paying for. I am a 20+ corporate sales and customer success professional who is beyond impressed by how1 this business model is expressed in Peoria, AZ. When Alex was not working with us, his colleagues were considerate and kind enough to check in on how they could assist. When he returned, he apologized for being away. More importantly, he motivated us to take advantage of all that the experience had the offer. I'll definitely recommend chemistry and candles. Candle chemistry is a place where you can not only craft your own candles, but can also make a perfume roller, aromatic mist, reed diffuser, fragrance odor, hand soap, and bottled lotion. What's amazing is that they have over 50 scents to sniff out. It takes awhile and there are a bunch of really cool and unique scents such as Fruit Loops, gun powder, marijuana, leather, pink sands, clothesline, creme brulee, fruit loops, honey crisp, and rain. The employees are helpful with suggesting combinations once you write down your favorite scents. I decided to get hand soap and the perfume roller. The scents are quite amazing but they are quite ephemeral. After reviewing everything, I realized that they lied about the prices. I came in with a couple friends on my birthday and had a pleasant experience. You begin by getting a clipboard & are instructed to smell all the candles on the wall and list your favorite top 10. Then you sit at the bar where they tell you to pick your favorite three. It would have been nice to know this before because I have no idea what my top three are after smelling 100 different scents to find my top 10. Anyways, it's fine to mix them until you like the sun and then your candle is pretty much complete after stirring it together. The candles aren't the best quality as mine started to emit nasty black smoke and no more scent at about halfway gone. The employees were extremely kind and helpful. Either way, it was a fun experience, but I probably wouldn't go back again just because the price is not worth it for the candles and quality. read more

Pretty neat concept. Was a good bonding opportunity with my mom. Together we chose the scents we both loved (you write them down on a clipboard as you smell each one). Once you're done. You choose which product you want to make like a candle, which size, or a lotion, etc. Then one of the staff members helps you mix the essential oils and helps you create your final product. You pick up your candle the next day after it sets, or at a time that's convenient for you. Apparently they can hold it for awhile. It was $23 to custom make our 8oz candle. Had so much fun here with Yelp friends during my first visit. Been here 4 additional times. This visit I came to pick up a gift card for a friend who hasn't been. They have a nice Scents of the Sonoran Desert collection and other already scented products as well. So you don't necessarily have to craft from scratch though it is so much fun! I received a candle from here and loved how strong the smell was and how long the candle lasted. I decided to try out their custom candle making with my son. We visited on a Monday early afternoon so we were the only customers there. We were given a clipboard and told to smell all the scents to write down our favorites. The entire process was pretty easy and the employee was mostly helpful with the process. After we smelled the candles to make our scent choices she was irritated that she had to explain the next step again and that we hadn't grabbed our candle containers yet. It wasn't clear that we would be blending only two or three scents until we got to the counter. We tested out a few mixtures of smells and blended them to make our custom scents. Overall it was a very fun and unique experience. I would definitely recommend it if you like candles and it's great for adults or older kids. I'm not sure it would be suitable to kids under 7. read more

If you're looking for something to do other than eating or drinking out on the town this could be for you. Took 3 kids in here and they really enjoyed it. The staff was really friendly from the get-go, it's very big and open space which is refreshing because a lot of times when you go to a crafting place it can get very overcrowded. There is a big long wall that has sample candles with every type of scent you could possibly think of. They start giving you a little card so you can write down your most favorite sense as you come up with an idea for your own candle. They have quite a few options of different sized candles, types of candles, types of wicks, colors... Or they even have things like lotions, body, butters, soaps, etc. for you to add your scents in and create something. When you collect everything you want to create, you sit down at the bar and there is someone there to help instruct you on what to do how to mix your sense and figure out your ratios. We all made different types of candles... I was slightly disappointed that we didn't get to pick out different waxes, and actually melt them ourselves to add into the candles..... They will take your candle from you and over to a spout. They pour wax into it for you, and then return it to you. So you don't get to put your wick together or melt wax. You are mixing up scents and then mixing them in, you also get to make a label. I think everything was priced very expected. if you want a cheap candle you pick one up at Walmart. If you want to make your own candle, the prices are very reasonable for the experience and customization. They do have discounts for things that are already made if you want to walk in and just purchase candles, soaps, lotions, etc.. the only thing I think could do to make this better organic scents that are not chemical-based. I would be willing to pay the extra amount to have this as an option. read more

Highly disappointed with our candle chem experience today. Took my mom, sister & daughter as part of their Christmas gift. We walked in around 1pm to a nearly empty store (2 customers at the counter & 2 browsing). One of the two staff on the floor asked if we had reservations. I let them know I had looked online to make reservations, but the site only requested reservations for parties of 6+ and we were a party of 4. She said they normally required reservations for parties of 3+, but would make an exception for us. I was surprised to hear this was their policy because both the site & store say "walk-ins welcome". The experience continued to go downhill from there. The employee was impatient & irritated throughout our visit. It's unfortunate we had to rely on her as our "scent stylist" because she truly ruined the experience. After trying 2 scent combinations, I was looking for a 3rd scent to finalize my combo. The stylist said I needed to make a decision otherwise I'd be "wasting oils". I felt pressured to make a decision so I did and ended up paying $26 for an 8oz bottle of lotion that smells comparable to something I could buy at Walgreens for $3. I think she must've been aware of her exceedingly poor customer service because she gave us a 15% discount "for being patient with her" (our party of 4 continued to be patient & courteous despite her bad attitude). I'd be willing to try again, but a different location & definitely a different stylist. read more

This place is so cute! As soon as you walk in, you smell all the yummy scents. I love that they have multiple options to choose from - you can create a candle, car diffuser, body lotion, body butter, bath salts, hand soap, and more! I decided to make a hand soap because who doesn't love a nicely scented hand soap? I know I do! Eucalyptus, white tea, and honeycrisp were the three scents I used in my hand soap. SO FUN FOR ALL OCCASIONS! I had a blast here. Fellow Yelper Jessica S. invited me and some other Yelpers to come make products here! They have ton of different products you can make besides candles! So even if you're not a candle fan you could still have fun here making body care products. Here is how it all works: All of the scents are along the wall in alphabetical order in candle form, pick up each candle and smell all the scents. Write down your favorites on a paper and clipboard that they provide. Choose your product that you want to make, then bring it over to the staff who will help you through the process. Using your favorite scents, they will suggest ones that pair together. You can mix a drop of each scent together and see if you like the combination, and if not, you can try another combination instead. (I ended up doing white tea, cherry blossom, and pistachio!) Once you pick one you like your product will be made. I did a candle in a cute iridescent pink glass jar. It was comparable to prices of Bath and Body Works, but this is more fun and interactive, and of course customizable. I had to wait a couple of hours to pick up my candle since it had to dry and set, but this is in a nice area where you can grab a bite to eat, get dessert, shop, or see a movie while you wait. The employees were SO friendly and helpful! They seemed to really enjoy working here. That is always a plus and shows that this is a great establishment. I highly recommend this spot for any occasion: date night, girls night out, family outing, and anything else you can think of! Awesome staff who are well informed, pleasant and helpful. A number of Elites came here for candle and/or lotion making. Staff guide you through the process. First they give you a small clipboard. Fill out the clipboard information with your name, and email. Next choose a scent or scents that you like. Many to choose from so just take your time while you sniff away at the fragrances. When you find the one(s) you like, keep track of them on the clipboard. Once you have finished selecting fragrances, it is time to mix them at your seated area. Staff give you a jigger and have you put drops of fragrances in it until full. Continue testing the fragrance by smelling it. If it gets overwhelming you may want to add a lighter smell. Once the jigger is filled, the fragrance is put either in the candle or lotion. If it is lotion, staff will blend it for you. I chose lotion and was done rather quickly. For those who made candles, staff take care of heating the candle and allowing it to harden. Before you leave, you make a personalized sticker to place on your item. Such a fun event! I can't even begin to tell you all how obsessed I am with this concept, the store, the scents! Everything about this place is awesome! I just stumbled upon it on Wednesday night being in town for work. As soon as I walked in I felt like a kid in a candy store! I was immediately greeted by a sweet young lady, I was so excited I didn't remember her name . I spent almost an hour in there picking out my scents and there are soooo many to choose from! I ended up getting 3 custom made candles and had the best time creating them! I flew back home Friday night and started burning one of the candles right away. I love love love the candle! So much I went online and bought 4 more! I was able to keep my sheet with all the scents I used so that came in very helpful while I was creating different candles. What a great addition to Park West. I've been dying for more fun things like this in the west valley and Candle Chemistry is it. This afternoon myself and a group of other Yelp elites met up to have some fun thanks to the planning of our friend Jessica who made our reservations ahead of time. The employees made everything so seem less and easy from start to finish. They were so friendly and fun as well. To give you an idea of how it works you start with a card and are advised to smell all the different scents....and there are A LOT. Once you find some you like you write them all down. Don't worry if the smells get to be too much they have little jars full of coffee beans that you can shake up and smell to help stop the overpowering scents at anytime...think of it as a cleansing pallet for the noise. Once you have your scents you make your way down to choose a jar you'd like for your candle/scent to go in. If not interested in a candle they also have body butter, hand soap, sugar scrub, and more. Next step is to the table where you are asked to narrow down to three scents, given the liquid to each scent then asked to mix in your little cup to your scent liking. I chose pink sugar, kiwi and blackberry. Your last step is to mix the scent with the hot candle wax they give you. Once stirred it is put aside to dry for about 1.5 hrs or so. Last touch was so cute; you are given a sticker to write down the name of your scent and it is stuck to the bottom of your candle. When you pick up your candle it is beautifully packaged with instructions and includes your card with the listed scents incase you'd like to recreate etc. pricing is very fair and affordable for what the experience you get. This is the most amazing concept! I had never heard of Candle Chemistry until my sister got my mom and I gift certificates for Mother's Day. We just went in this morning to use our gift cards and it was so fun smelling all the scents, picking our favorites and mixing our own unique scent. You can make candles, body scrub, bath salts, wax melts, soap, and lotions! This place was so fun. My husband and I did this as a date day. We were greeted right away told what we needed to do to make a product. First we smelled so many scents for either a candle or body product. My husband picked out 4 flavors or scents he liked and I picked out 6 too many to choose from. You then pick out either a candle different sizes and decorative options to choose from pricing range from 25.00 up on the products which I did not think was too bad. I picked a candle and a body lotion. Finally you take those scents you picked into your product with the help from the staff which is amazing and so helpful. The location is amazing! Only 15 minutes from home. The store is beautiful. Brooke was absolutely phenomenal. She was so sweet and helped me and my boyfriend make our own customized candles for date night. She made suggestions and made our experience so fun. If i ever go back, i hope she helps us again. Even when i went back to pick up my candles a whole week later, she remembered me by the scents i had chose (it's the little things that count) that was so sweet! Such a fun concept! My fiancé isn't a fan of painting parties and such, but loves candles. I thought this was such a cute date idea, and he loved it! Holsten helped us with every step and was so kind and personable. We had a great experience and highly recommend this spot for a family activity or date!
