LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS PLACE! The menu is diverse, flavorful, and has something for everyone, while the staff is incredibly welcoming. Definitely a place I'll be coming back to! CRISPY BRUSSEL SPROUTS Sweet and spicy soy glaze with sautéed red peppers and scallions. These were a little too heavy on the sauce for my liking, but otherwise very good. If you're not a fan of sweeter flavors, this one may not be for you. BUFFALO MAC & CHEESE Cavatappi pasta tossed in a creamy mac sauce, topped with crispy buffalo chicken, blue cheese crumbles, and onion straws. We added bacon and chicken, and this was a top pick for us! The buffalo sauce had the perfect balance--not overly spicy, but enough flavor to complement the creamy mac and cheese. CPB CO. FISH AND CHIPS Craft beer-battered haddock served with Northcoaster fries and house-made tartar sauce. Another top pick for us! The fish was crispy, flavorful, and perfectly fried. Honestly, one of the best fried fish dishes I've had in Minnesota. Unfortunately, I can't report on the beer as I'm not a big drinker...Sorry! Overall, a fantastic experience with great food, welcoming service, and plenty of variety. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Duluth! read more

We had a great experience at Canal Park Brewing Company! Our server was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. The beer selection was a little smaller than we expected, but there was still a nice variety of styles, so everyone in our group found something they enjoyed. They also have a full bar with specialty cocktails. The food menu was surprisingly large with lots of unique and fun options to try. The only small downside was that the Brussels sprouts were still a little undercooked for our taste, but everything else was excellent and more than made up for it. Excellent brisket, fish n chips, and build your own burger! The garlic aioli and IPA mustard sauces were definitely memorable. Overall, it's a great spot for good food, craft beer, and a fun atmosphere located right on the pier. We'd definitely come back! read more

This is a popular place on a Friday evening. The weather was great and the place was full up indoors and outdoors. We had two in our party, which was an advantage. We got on the waiting list and were told it'd be about a 30 minute wait. By golly, we know from the time stamps on the texts that it was 32 minutes total. We were seated outside, and service was fast and smooth from that point. We had the pretzel sticks appetizer, which was fantastic. Very soft, hot pretzels, and the queso was thick and loaded with flavor. My husband had the Canal Park red lager and really enjoyed it. My main dish was the birria tacos, which were quite good but could have used more cheese. Salsa and chips were fine, too. My husband had jalapeño popper burger with fries, and really liked it. Checkout was fast and pleasant. read more

My husband and I had a great experience at Canal Park Brewing. Our server was Ashley and she was super friendly and efficient. It's casual and has plenty of seating inside and outside. I ordered their Tidehaus with a beyond burger patty, and my husband ordered the Brewpub Smashburger. We shared cheese curds and sweet potato fries for our sides. All the food was delicious. I still think about those cheese curds!! They had a light crispiness on the outside and a creamy, cheesy inside. I also tried the Minnesota mule at the recommendation of our server and it was really good. All I had to do was tell her what kind of taste I was looking for and she immediately nailed it on the recommendation. This was our first meal in Duluth, and it set the bar high. read more

Pretty solid burgers, consistently well made. I come in once every month or two. This time around, I had the smash burger. It had good flavor however a little on the small side, that being said, although it is already a double patty you can order a double- double. I just might do that next time. Their beers are well done also, lots of IPA's read more

Friends and I met here, had a blast out on the patio. Drank many beer, had several appetizers it was all good. We sat around the self service fire pit, and had to step inside for beers. No problem, the bartenders at the main bar were great. We had kids, and they whipped up some excellent Shirley temples. Staff is very friendly, and try to accommodate all requests amicably. We came back to enjoy some beers on the balcony and the beer list is mostly IPA's, which I don't care for. Slim pickings for beer this time, I hope next time is better. I do highly recommend visiting. Pet friendly, great outdoor seating. 4.5 stars. read more

I will keep this somewhat short. This place is just plain fun to hang out at. What is not to like? If you are staying in any of the myriad of hotels along canal street, you can walk there. The brewery is located right off the pathway, and you have a wonderful view of the lake. The beer is always fresh and well made. There is a beer for all: malty, hoppy, sour, crisp/clean. They have a full bar for those who don't like beer (gasp!) The food is decent bar food. been here multiple times and either ate appetizers or an entree. I walked away plenty happy every time. read more

Our always go to spot to grab lunch when in downtown Duluth. Not only do they have great food but also great beer! No wait for a Sunday around 12:45 which was awesome. We sat inside as some weather was coming towards us. Service was great. On this outing, I ordered a Reuben on gfree bread with fries. They face these thick soft (on the inside) delish fries. Very filling. The sandwich was perfection! The kiddo was happy about his kids cheeseburger option. He also got chocolate milk. Yum. I got the mule cocktail on the menu. Delish for not being in a copper mug. Lots of public (pay lots) in the surrounding area areas. $6 for 3 hours. Beautiful patio if the weather is nice and great walking path to view the lake behind the building. read more

Food was good. We had a less than ideal experience but they addressed the wait on the food and the heat. Just a busy, rough night all around.I believe they even closed early Due to heat wave for the region. Cheese curds and pretzels were excellent. Queso dip very very good! On a recent girls trip, we were excited to arrive in Duluth and headed to Canal Park Brewing to start the trip off right. We were seated outside since it was the first available spot on a busy Friday night. Everything was fine until the rain started. We were able to move inside and were told we would be put at the top of those waiting for tables. Our server, a younger woman, was very quiet and didn't let the host know about us moving, so we handled it ourselves. The person taking names was helpful and accommodating. We had given our order outside when the rain began, but the server didn't submit it because we wanted to make sure we had a table first. Once inside, the server was a bit confused and had to go back and forth a few times to understand that we had already given out order. I had also asked about something a nearby table had, and she wasn't sure (and didn't try to find out), only to find out later it was something I would have ordered which was a bummer. The bartender sent the wrong drink at first but quickly offered the correct one. I was fine with the first drink, so I just went with it. Another friend didn't like the puree in the mango seltzer, and the bartender happily replaced it. Overall, the service was good and fairly quick for how busy it was, and the food and drinks were very good! read more

Quick stop here before the concert on the ship tonight. We were seated by the server station that constantly had loud noises from plates, ice machine and foot traffic. Not a great first impression. It's obviously that they cater to the tourist with a large menu that has so many options, which is never a good sign. We decided to go somewhere else for dinner, just had a beer and an app. The Hazy Lakeside IPA was disappointing and barely had any flavor. Not a great relaxing ambiance if you're looking for somewhere you can enjoy a nice dinner. But it's good for families and large groups. There's way better restaurants and breweries in the city to settle for this. read more

The Fish and Chips was delicious!! Yes, it is a little pricey, but I think it was well worth it! The wait for the food was not bad once we were seated. All of the staff were busy trying to get people seated and fed. I would give our server 5- Stars (more, if I could). Her name is Yan Y., she did a wonderful job, especially since they were so busy! She had a very positive, smiley attitude even under pressure and in the heat! We requested a pitcher of water for our table because we were in the heat all day, she brought us a one-gallon pitcher, twice! A very good server! read more

I'll start by saying that the location can't be beat and the service was really quick and friendly. Outside of that everything else is just "OK" but you're paying a premium for that harbor view. It's your quintessential tourist-trap and you should expect food and prices to match. It reminds me of a resort restaurant or a spot that is supported 90% by corporate happy hours. If you're with a large group of people and need to accommodate a large range of diets/preferences this is a solid choice. Otherwise there are a bunch of better (and cheaper) options around, in my opinion. read more

The positive- the server was great! A nice place - clean and not super loud. The pretzels and beer cheese dip were awesome- The ok- the dip seampler was mostly great. The guac was kind of bland. The hummus was yum and the cheesy dip was so tasty. The "crudités" were simply carrots and celery. My friend's burger was good apparently and the portabella burger I had was ok. The mushrooms were good but I feel like there was some meat leakage onto either it or the bun. I'm vegetarian and have not had meat for years. I had an off taste on that bottom bun. The French fries were ok but why so thin?? Idk they didn't stay warm too long In reality- pretty typical brew house food. But the people were really nice read more

Every time I come back I'm impressed with this place. Great beer, food, and service every time. Always look forward to coming back!

Love this place. When we're in canal park this is our favorite place to eat. I've tried several items on the menu and like all of them. The service is usually fast and good. We typically always eat on the patio because my son likes climbing in the rocks while we wait for our food. This time I wasn't as happy with a couple of the items or the service so I took a star off. The birria beef nachos were yummy and had a good amount of meat on them. The beer cheese soup was lacking the flavor of beer (yes I know the alcohol gets cooked out) that I tasted in other beer cheese soups so that was disappointing. It actually had more of a bacon flavor so if you like bacon cheese soup I recommend it. The Buffalo blue Mac and cheese with chicken was not well put together. All the blue cheese was in the middle on top but we didn't know that until we got almost half way through it. It would have been nice to not have put the chicken on top of it so we could see it or mix it in before serving it. The service was incredibly slow this time. We waited at least 10 minutes to meet our server and another 20 to order then at least 40 minutes for our food. It was Sunday on Labor Day weekend so I cut them some slack. If it happens again I'll update this or post a new review. read more

Service was very good. My server made recommendations when requested. Great ambiance. Not busy. Outdoor area looks fun although it was too cold for me so I stayed indoors. I had the cheese curds. The burger was very good too, just needed a bit of salt and pepper but not a deal breaker. Highly recommend this place. I would go back for sure. read more

Had an amazing time at CPB Co.--great food, great beer, and a cozy vibe that makes you want to stay awhile! We started with the cheese curds--crispy, golden perfection! Lightly breaded and fried just right, with a creamy chipotle sauce that added the perfect kick. For the main course, the fish and chips were a standout. The Lake Superior whitefish was super fresh, with a crispy craft beer batter that didn't overpower the fish. Paired with Northcoaster fries and their house-made tartar sauce--classic, comforting, and done right. Ended on a high note with the Swedish cream--a chilled vanilla bean custard topped with lingonberry sauce and seasonal fruit. Silky, rich, and not too sweet. Bonus: it's gluten-friendly! Of course, no brewery visit is complete without trying the beer. We had the Foggy Jack Porter--smooth with hints of chocolate and coffee--and the award-winning Nut Hatchet Brown Ale, which lived up to the hype. Nutty, malty, with notes of toffee and caramel--absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this spot for great eats and top-tier brews. Will definitely be back! read more

This place had the best fish and chips I've ever had! The beer batter was as so light and crispy, I would have sworn it was tempura. The fish was meaty and tender, and my fries were cooked to "well done" perfection, not completely over cooked as most places will do it. The service was also excellent. I know it's a brewery, but I'm not a beer person so I can't speak to that. But as for the fish and chips, I would travel back to Duluth, just to have it again. read more

Amazing brewery and gastropub in Duluth... Stopped by CPB for dinner while in town for work. One of the top 5 gastropubs I've been to, and I don't just loosely toss that out there. Beer was great. Food was good to very good. Most in our party found our dishes to be pretty bland. Cool spot and atmosphere though!

This is going to be sort of a double review. I'm in the area for work, so me and some coworkers popped in for some food and drinks. Our bartender was eager to answer all of our questions, and got us set up with all the beer flights we wanted and continued serving that same energy as we decided to start ordering single pour drinks. The food was surprisingly delicious. And i only say that because i never would have expected to get good Birria Tacos in Minnesota. But i was wrong this tacos were banging!! They come served with a side of cauliflower rice. First time i have ever had that and it def needs some seasoning or maybe some cilantro or something to give it more range. The Second part of this review is because i enjoyed everything so much the first day that I came back the next day for lunch. I had a different bartender today and she was amazing ! She was very patient with me has a made a very custom burger... I took things i wanted from one burger and put them on another burger they offered. And she didn't mess up a single instruction. The burger patty was juicy and flavorful. read more

I went here a couple times trying new things each time. The food was very hit or miss. The miss was due to little to no flavor like the lemon garlic wings. I tasted neither and they looked plain. I still love this place. We drove way out of our way to come to Duluth specifically to come to Canal Park Brewing for lunch this weekend. We got the northern lights power bowl and it was fantastic. Expect a punch of flavor. Ours was overdressed so it was like a bowl of soup of dressing, but honestly I'm not complaining because it was fantastic. The chicken was amazing, and the greens were fresh. We also got a side of fries, side salad and pretzels. You can't forget their signature CPB sauces, I got the chipotle cream and cilantro cream this time, A++++. Someone in the kitchen knows what they're doing.
