Absolutely the best museum I've ever been to. Spaces are wonderfully laid out so you can experience…read moreeach concept in detail. I especially loved the first nations section. The museum has very clear signage to acknowledge exploitative museum history and how they are partnering with experts in the community (that is, experts from first nation communities), as well as an explainer showing where some of these artifacts were found within the modern day Toronto map to put things in perspective. I also got a chance to upgrade to see the special bee exhibit. It was an absolutely gorgeous experience. The exhibit took you through the lifestyle of bees, not just through the basics of science and history, but through immersion art. Examples of this art are sections where you walk through a simulated hive, and there is a section where you sit and watch the lifecycle of the flowers as well, highlighting bees and climate change and biodiversity loss. The bee exhibit was an intellectual and emotional experience, involving sight, sound, and touch. Just fantastic. You'll want a good few hours here, though you can see highlights for less.

I loved my visit to the ROM. I didn't get to see all of it, but what I did see was impressive…read more Starting with the dinosaur skeletons and then on to the antiquities, it was really enjoyable. We had a 4 year old with us so we spent a lot of time on the 2nd floor with the bees and the bats and the animals, but I enjoyed it just as much. The play area they have set up for the kids is brilliant, it engages the kids while also getting them involved in 'art' and 'design'. We made a bee out of pipe cleaners and then played in the garden area. I plan on coming back to Toronto next year and I want to come back to see what I missed.

Thoughts while going through AGO... "What the F%$K?" (most…read morepopular, not in a bad way) "That's awesome!" "That is stupid." "My 9 year old Niece might have painted that..." I'm sure you'll feel the same way... Not the best art museum in the whole world, but they go plenty of variety from ancient, to classical, to masterpieces, to crappy pieces, to what the heck is that.. I've been to the Uffizi in Florence, Louvre in Paris, National Gallery in Oslo, and other fancy schmancy museums... they're all great too...but I love the extra modern and contemporary art! Weird rocks my world. I am weird! $30 CAD / $23 USD for an Adult ticket, but I had the CityPass so this was one of my included attractions. $30 isn't cheap, but I spent almost 2 hours here becoming more cultured, enlightened, and elitist...so I think I got my money's worth.

I like to visit the AGO every year to check out the new artists' work, paintings, and sculptures…read moredisplayed. It's always refreshing seeing creative work in action, so this is my go-to spot for an intriguing, adventurous day out. My favourite theme was the KAWS display. They had multiple sculptures of KAWS in different colors, shapes and sizes. They also had a few KAWS x Simpsons paintings, which was my absolute favourite. I'm a huge Simpsons fan, so this was truly exciting to see. The gallery was bright, perfect for a photo-op to post on socials. I had a wonderful time, and I can't wait to visit again! If you're looking for a day out that'll inspire your creativity and stun you, this is definitely the spot to visit with friends or family.
