My best friend suggested that I drop by the toonie (twonie or twoonie?) monument while in…read moreCampbellford. I decided to make a stop before swinging by her mom's house for dinner. I frankly don't know what the proper spelling is of the term used to describe our $2 coin. I feel that toonie is more common because it's a simple letter change from loonie, our $1 coin. I can also see twonie and twoonie being acceptable, as they can represent the coin's bi-metallic look or its value, or both. I'll use toonie until I have another internal spelling battle. This monument is located in a small park, Old Mill Park, with the Trent River hugging it. It's a gorgeous setting. I parked by the Trent Hills Chamber of Commerce. Parking is free there. I then walked over to see the monument. While I was admiring the toonie monument, there was a performance happening at the bandstand further down. A woman was singing, "God is great. God is wonderful." I wasn't expecting a spiritual choir singing as I was admiring this attraction. It was different. This giant $2 coin was built in 2001. It's an exact replica of an adult polar bear in early summer on an ice floe, but larger. It was designed by Brent Townsend, who lived in Trent Hills. This monument is 27 feet high and 18 feet wide in diameter. It was constructed by local metalsmith, Steve Redden, with the oversight of the Royal Canadian Mint. The Mint declared Campbellford the home of the $2 coin in 1997. Cool! My friend's brother is a wealth of knowledge, which I appreciate. He shared that Townsend had a mental breakdown roughly a decade ago. He decided to erect a 5-metre cross on his lawn and hung a noose from the top. One word: Wow. I hope that he has sought help. I shared the God-is-good sing-along that I had experienced with my friend and her family. Her mom let me know that I had stumbled upon Gospel Fest that lasts two weekends in this town. I had caught the second weekend of it. I had a great time taking photos of the giant toonie monument and admiring its craftsmanship. I also got more bang for my buck (er, two bucks) by taking in Gospel Fest. Yay, me! (244)

This morning as I was pulling my toast from the toaster oven, I suddenly craved something other…read morethan mere butter or jam to slather on it before consumption. Propped elbow on the counter, cocked an eyebrow, stroked chin thoughtfully and then *ding!* That little yellow light bulb from "Merrie Melodies" cartoons materialized above my head as I remembered a hoarded and cherished jar of Lavender Hills Farm honey stashed in the cupboard. And not just any honey, but honey blended with tahini. Ta-honey? It tastes as if a jar of mild, nutty peanut butter rolled right into a jar of honey, like in "The Missing Piece Meets the Big O", and they discovered they were meant to be all along. Add in a sliced banana and you've got childhood -- or Elvis -- between two slices of toasty bread. All Lavender Hills honey products are "raw", which means the honey is pulled straight from the comb and isn't heated or pasteurized, so you get all the health benefits of bee pollen with every golden, dripping spoonful. Aside from jars of regular raw honey, Lavender Hills sells creamed raw honey; raw honey blended with ginger, sweet and spicy all at once; raw honey mustard which is hot, and I love; raw honey fudge sauce made with African cocoa and coffee, you won't believe your taste buds. For hand-farmed, harvested, and produced honey, the prices are really a steal. They also make body cremes, lip balms, and candles from the botanicals growing on their farm and beeswax from their apiaries. Aside from the fantastic products, the people who work at Lavender Hills Farm are all wonderfully down-to-earth and friendly. It's a pleasure visiting with them each summer in Ontario, and we always look forward to a return trip. Raw honey with tahini. Genius.

I have seen him during my early years of life as I went to college and then for work and every time I would go to dundas square on my lunches he would be there loudly saying: "Repent, the kingdom of Heaven is near, BELIEVEEEEE in THE LORD!! All these years after being married and a mother of 3 I told my children about him. And last week like never before, after a decade of not seeing him I had a chance to see him again. We shook hands and a sweet mutual conversation sprung up, even though he was struggling to talk because of old age and me barely hearing his responses, but his smile brought so much joy. You could see he was really a happy man, he was a man with joy in his heart that couldn't be expressed into words. Due to his advanced age he was feeble & weak but content, happy & believing in the One he was preaching. What a blessing he has been for many, even if many don't notice that, even if some from the crowds out there were mocking him or counting him as crazy; for him his reward in the world to come which is the eternal heaven is gonna be far greater, he will be crowned with future glory and honor for the work he has done here on earth and he will receive his great reward from God as God's faithful follower and servant of Jesus Christ! All his beautiful mission unapproved my many, startled by others, everything was accomplished for one reason: to awaken the city to the true reality of God and His existence, and His kingdom and for those that rejected his pamphlets which were meant to be taken to read and BELIEVEEE IN the message of salvation and KNOW ABOUT the suffering & the eternal wrath of God that will soon come upon all the unsaved, woe to them that have rejected and mocked the plan of salvation through faith in Jesus and the multitudes that still reject it up to this day. His voice will echo throughout the generations that follow. May God raise up people like him. I asked him how long he's been preaching out at dundas Sq. and he said for over 28 years. I was left in tears for he has told me that he stopped going there because he has been badly attacked by someone. He is so weak now he can't defend himself, he is dragging his feet behind him. He was so happy to see me yesterday also. We shook hands again and had a small conversation. I said to myself that, I will surely prepare him a warm meal and give it to him next time I see him.
