My best friend lives in Port Hope Canada two years ago for her birthday I bought her a gift certificate which she apparently never used. Lame. Fast Forward to my visit a couple of weeks ago. This was probably the funnest thing I did on my trip to Canada (well Duran Duran was pretty awesome too). It was hot as hell so the yoga was great because it was in the shade if you're going to do goat yoga plan on getting dirty. The goats poop on your mats and eat your hair but it's all worth it. Oh there's some super cuddly kids in there! The yoga was definitely the easiest yoga I've done because it was at your own pace we couldn't really hear the instructor so we kind of tried to follow along with people that work close to us that we watched. They asked that you bring a matt, which we didn't even think of. Luckilyish they had some spare mats and I'm glad I didn't bring my matt because they were filthy afterwards... Like with poop, dirt, and grass. There is a store and a goat Cafe. I heard so many good things about the goat Cafe but apparently they were out of everything even though we were at the beginning of the day. There were only 3 menu items available. I picked the pulled pork. It was so sweet it was inedible I took a bite and I couldn't eat anymore I actually returned it to the guy uneaten. He didn't even ask if I wanted a box, which I would have told him no it's horrible. So I don't recommend eating at the cafe at all. I did pick up a couple of cookies and goodies and they were dry and flavorless. The goat cheese was amazing!! I highly recommend picking up some goat cheese especially the gouda the gouda is good. They also have some really good grapefruit mint soda that I loved. He asked the lady what a favorite is and she says the goat fudge which I ate the other night and it was mediocre at best. On the website you can pick between yoga and a schmergel. Well if you're like me I was like what the hell is a shmurgle. It's where you walk around the farm with either goats or an alpaca pack. They also have overnight stays available we did consider it but then we thought oh no what if the goats scream... never mind. My friend never used her gift certificate because she wants to go do an alpaca shmurgle so she'll be back. read more

If you love goats, this is the place to be. I'm a huge farm tourist person and Haute Goat has been on my list. My first tip: If you're coming from the West and going here on a Saturday, I recommend leaving 30 minutes earlier than you planned because of all the cottage traffic. We were 45 minutes late to our Schmurgle which sucked but we still spent a good hour and a half of quality time with the goats. Since we missed the first part, I think what happened was a talk about the goats and then they "released" them. They then took them out for a walk around the amazing property. We came in the middle of that. It was amazing to see all the different types of goats and the babies walking beside you as you tour the scenic property and fields. It was definitely a unique experience. After that, we came into the pen where you can spend an hour of quality time with the goats. You can hug, pet, take pictures, and feed these little cuties. Very relaxed. It was a great time. The staff were all very nice and genuinely loved their job. There were also alpacas, chickens, puppies, and more. A cat even came up to us at the end for some belly rubs. They have a cafe there and a store that sold soaps and alpaca items. The soaps were reasonably priced and I wish I picked one up on my trip. Maybe I will if I come back for the Alpaca knuffle shuffle!! Really recommend this place for any animal lovers. Great idea for a date. read more

Outside historic Port Hope lies a 200-acre farm where guests can experience farm life. You get the opportunity to go behind the scenes and interact with a variety of animals like Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Huacaya Alpacas, Exotic Chickens, Icelandic Horses, Apiary, and Tornjak Livestock Guardian Dogs at Haute Goat Shmurgle. This place is a great family activity. When we arrived at the farm, we were greeted by the two friendly owners - Jack and Teja. They gave us a little lesson about the various animals that reside there and learned the history of Haute Goat Farm. Afterward, we walked out to an enclosed gated area where the staff let at least 25 goats out of their playground pen. Being a city girl, it was surreal just being able to have this experience - as I don't think you can cuddle and interact with goats anywhere in Toronto. Hanging out with the Nigerian dwarf goats was definitely the highlight for me. As we entered the gated area, the Nigerian dwarf goats all ran freely, while guests were trying to chase after them for photo opportunities. There was a mixture of guests from friends, families to couples ... the perfect group activity I would say. The whole experience took about an hour. I had a fun time! read more

I would highly recommend this place if you want to hang out with goats, walk with alpacas, chat with some chickens and appreciate the beauty Port Hope. We were welcomed by Conan, one of the dogs in the area. His bark is just his pleading to be acknowledged. Adorable. We signed up to take a hike with alpacas and I got to be with Anakin, who was the sweetest one, in my opinion. The best thing about the hike was being guided by Hitarth, a young man with the sweetest smile and obvious love for all the animals at this sanctuary. He was quite knowledgeable and helpful every time we peppered him with questions. In addition, they have a small cafe that offered the best eggplant sandwich with goat cheese. Highly recommend. I also grabbed some shiitake mushrooms and some goat soap. Have to go back to grab some hand cream. Tried some and it was good. Book your time now to smurgle with an Alpaca!!! read more

Release the goats! This is a farm created by an ex city dweller who wanted to live in the country and it's pretty neat! Great job and business! A friend of mine and I decided to take a road trip and ended up here as the first stop. We signed up for the Goat Shmurgle which only releases 30 tickets (all sold out). The Shmurgle was at 11am and basically you walk the goats out in a big field and then go back to a the play area and play with them - about two hours. August day and sweltering hot. Bring water with you in case and sunscreen. You should also wear boots or runners, some people failed to read the email that outlined this and probably had a horrid time walking thru the fields - ha! Gift shop is cute, the cheese is good. We also had lunch and it was awesome! Owners and staff were all so friendly. There are alpacas on the farm, some chickens, horses and bees. About 200 acres to walk around. Good drive and fun experience. Probably not suited for kids under 4 and the walking of the goats part not for people with mobility issues. Easy to find with a GPS, signs off the highway and thru the country. read more

A lovely day trip and a great lunch. I'd heard about the farm, but this was my first visit. Basically it's a rambling walk through rolling fields with a swarm of goats of every size... lots of petting, hugging and feeding them cedar. And chasing down the "wanderers". A really, really sweet way to connect with animals. The lunch was fabulous. We had a beautiful salad and the chorizo cheese sandwich -- simple, local, perfectly done. Plus two sticky goat milk cookies for desert. Everyone was lovely. When our cookies stuck to our napkins, they gave us another for free! Unexpected and classy. Little touches like this will make me return, with friends. And maybe even just for lunch. read more

My boyfriend and I attended the schmurgle today. It was such an enjoyable experience. We got to hug and snuggle with baby goats as well as alpacas. The owners are so wonderful and very proud of their farm. We will return for another schmurgle. read more

What a wonderful experience for the whole family! Nice way to spend your day in the county side, with a friendly staff and an amazing animals. Shmurgling with goats was beyond anything that I was expected. I was very impressed with food offered from the small cafe on the site, so find a moment to enjoy quality of food and artistry of it.
