We made the reservation online for 12pm on Saturday. We arrived a bit late, but not that many people around. The lavender bushes were low and some of them were re-planted. And they have different kinds of lavender. We learned something about lavender today. There is a playground for my kids to play together. We sat under the shade nicely. Put in some Instagrammable backdrop and charge visitor a premium admission so they can do all the selfies and post it online. I have to thanks Christel Lake Lavender for opening up their property and share with the public. There is no admission fees at all to visit. One might argue where is the Lavender field? But the set up of this farm is more educational with different varieties of lavender planted. There are even a play area for kids. Picnic areas with a pop up "restaurant" if you want to grab a bite. Trails to walk around the lake. All these for free?! Property is well maintained and you can tell the owner is proud of his farm. Check in at the gift shop if you want a private tour around the property. They also host private events and weddings. The lake is just the perfect back drop for photographs for that special day. I love and support local business. So I highly recommend you to visit Christel Lake Lavender when you in the Port Perry area and check out what they offers.

This is actually quite a lot of fun…read more While this place is primarily open to the public maybe 2-3 times a year. But is open to school & daycare groups for the rest of the time. I really enjoyed the Halloween in the Village event hosted by York Region Emergency Services. 2018 price of admission was $10 per car and I personally thought it was well worth the price of admission. Also double thumbs up with all proceeds donated to the United Way. It is great for families, who want to do trick or treat in a controlled setting; but not in a mall setting. This, I find, is especially important for families with young ones and toddlers in particular. There are quite a few trick or treating stations so you won't be disappointed. We got a good amount of treats to satisfy the younger kids. The event itself is very well run - it was busy; but not overcrowded and there wasn't as much of a line up as I feared there would be. In terms of transportation to and from the parking lot - there were plenty of shuttle buses (golf cart style and viva buses) to go around. Word of caution - dress for the weather - this place is all outdoors!

You've got to try the Duck!!…read more I've heard of this place since last year but never made it until their annual duck fest. This review will be based on the festival and the venue. There's a few parking area (on grass and cement) but be prepared for a far-ish walk. They have 2 lines, one for preregistered and one for regular. Be prepared to wait! However the lines move fairly quickly, so it's not too bad. We were given a "passport" where vendors stamped so that you can only go to each one once, which I thought was a great idea. This year they had 10 vendors = 10 sampling stations! They were all very nice and gave very decent portions. Half way through I was pretty full already. Some of my favourites were the duck wings and smoked duck breast. Our last stop concluded at the Farm Fresh Store where you can buy all sorts of duck products. This place was madness! Super busy with only 2 counters to check out and no place to put the stuff you wanted to buy. Overall I still managed to get what I wanted but I would like to come back in the future to look through the items carefully. It was a fun event and I can't wait for next year!

This was probably the funnest thing I did on my trip to Canada (well Duran Duran was pretty awesome too). It was hot as hell so the yoga was great because it was in the shade if you're going to do goat yoga plan on getting dirty. The goats poop on your mats and eat your hair but it's all worth it. Oh there's some super cuddly kids in there! The yoga was definitely the easiest yoga I've done because it was at your own pace we couldn't really hear the instructor so we kind of tried to follow along with people that work close to us that we watched. They asked that you bring a matt, which we didn't even think of. Luckilyish they had some spare mats and I'm glad I didn't bring my matt because they were filthy afterwards... Like with poop, dirt, and grass. There is a store and a goat Cafe. I heard so many good things about the goat Cafe but apparently they were out of everything even though we were at the beginning of the day. There were only 3 menu items available. I picked the pulled pork. It was so sweet it was inedible I took a bite and I couldn't eat anymore I actually returned it to the guy uneaten. He didn't even ask if I wanted a box, which I would have told him no it's horrible. So I don't recommend eating at the cafe at all. I did pick up a couple of cookies and goodies and they were dry and flavorless. The goat cheese was amazing!! I highly recommend picking up some goat cheese especially the gouda the gouda is good. They also have some really good grapefruit mint soda that I loved. He asked the lady what a favorite is and she says the goat fudge which I ate the other night and it was mediocre at best. On the website you can pick between yoga and a schmergel. Well if you're like me I was like what the hell is a shmurgle. It's where you walk around the farm with either goats or an alpaca pack. They also have overnight stays available we did consider it but then we thought oh no what if the goats scream... never mind. My friend never used her gift certificate because she wants to go do an alpaca shmurgle so she'll be back.

It's a fantastic ecosystem for bees and small animals. Didn't love how far the bathroom was from the tea house/ garden restaurant (literally was offered a go cart ride), so go before you think you really need to. Service at the tea house was alright. Despite having many staff, it felt a bit hard to flag them down at times. We noticed too that they weren't too kind to people who didn't have reservations despite having a few empty tables that stayed empty for our entire dining time. I felt they could have offered to make a reservation with them on the spot or just apologized. Not everyone knows about this spot until they are on the grounds for a walk. The food itself wasn't really worth it. We ordered a few mocktails which were wildly sweet, but refreshing for this hot hot day. We ordered the poke bowl and it was pretty good. A lot of fresh veggies mixed in the bowl and flavour was light. Good and refreshing for a hot summer day by the beautiful garden fountain. The salmon soba noodles was not quite the same. My salmon was a bit dry which is either because it was over cooked or just refrigerated for too long. It's served cold. The soba noodles did not hold well. You can see in my photos that the noodles were basically just stuck in these hard chunks. Not twirlable at all and quite stiff. It was not great.. I was very disappointed. At that price point, you'd think they could atleast whip up fresh noodles for you. It was even more disappointing that they didn't even apologize or make any offers to salvage the experience. They just didn't seem to care much. It's a beautiful place but they're certainly not a great dining experience. It is incredible as an idea though so maybe just make a reservation to have a drink by the fountain.
