It gets better every year here!…read more This year we enjoyed another great afternoon here while the weather continued this heat wave. Admission changed to $10 a person and the 10 or 20 lb bags with no premium prices. They added a new corn maze in a new spot, parking lots are centralised and a tractor will take you to the furthest hills for Gala & HoneyCrisp. The tractor runs often and there's lots of space to bring wagons and strollers. The farm obstacle run in next to a corn kernel play area, shielded by a converted silo. The kids had a blast in here! Digging with sand toys and lots of space to swim in the corn kernels. I'm sure all parents loved it wasn't dirty like sand but just corn dust. The cafe kiosk is next to the kids play area so one can enjoy hot cider($3), cider donuts or other pastries while the kids play. There lots of big old trees to give shade to take a break from this hot afternoon. Lots of portapotty around and wash sinks at the play area, parking lot and top of the picking hill. The corn maze is themed for Minecraft, so hay bales or wooden crates and painted and stacked for photo ops. Lots of pumpkins decorations and photo ops. There's a bouncy farm animal toy penned off for kids to bounce and ride on. Really creative idea and such fun watching them all looking like they're bucking broncos. More animals added onto the farm, llamas, sheep and these cute shaggy cattle. Tip: save your apple core or fallen apples from the picking orchard to feed the animals at the end, they really do appreciate it! It might be further for some but it's an easy, scenic afternoon drive. I love how it's busy but not crowded like the ones closer to Toronto.

There's also a large area for sunflowers and pumpkin patch. Kids would enjoy the maze and large bumpy slide. Market: amazing variety. I am afraid to go inside especially the baked goods area. Everything is orderly and fresh. Going to buy all my veggies here from now on. RTBF also has a CSA program where vegetables can be delivered/picked up (curbside available) until early November. The portions and variety are amazing! We're so happy to have joined. Price was also very reasonable. Everything is always so fresh and tastes amazing. Our favourite are the cherry tomatoes. I have been eating them like candy! Some CSA items have been in our fridge for over a week and still looking fresh. A weekly letter is sent to give us ideas of what to make or maybe frozen for later. One of the perks of being in the CSA bin program is that admission to the farm is complimentary and we can come back anytime! Perfect if you have kids in the family. They also give you some veggies to feed the animals. Lots of parking. You can park on the grass if the gravel lot is full. Staff are very nice and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back soon!

The animals are not afraid to come to you which makes it great for be kids. Just be careful because they seem to be very hungry all the time The farm is spread across a large area and it includes the animal pens, a small straw maze with slides, old tractors for riding, tube chute slide, corn maze, sunflower fields, and a small pumpkin patch where they've collected all the harvested pumpkins in one area. They have decorated straw bales and scarecrows for halloween. The farm market is very rustic. This is where you can get fresh vegetables, baked goods, pies, meat, cheese, dairy and more! I've tried a couple cookies and they were delicious. I've also tried the turkey pot pie- a little salty but the pie crust was sooo flaky! What's amazing is that they also allow pets as long as they are on leash, you poop and scoop, and that they don't scare the animals. It's a family affair!

We made the reservation online for 12pm on Saturday. We arrived a bit late, but not that many people around. The lavender bushes were low and some of them were re-planted. And they have different kinds of lavender. We learned something about lavender today. There is a playground for my kids to play together. We sat under the shade nicely. The lake was huge, we don't have time to explore the lake.

I love the homey and rustic set up of Christel Lake Lavender…read more I know lately there is all these commercialization of Lavender farms to be a tourist attraction. Put in some Instagrammable backdrop and charge visitor a premium admission so they can do all the selfies and post it online. I have to thanks Christel Lake Lavender for opening up their property and share with the public. There is no admission fees at all to visit. One might argue where is the Lavender field? But the set up of this farm is more educational with different varieties of lavender planted. There are even a play area for kids. Picnic areas with a pop up "restaurant" if you want to grab a bite. Trails to walk around the lake. All these for free?! Property is well maintained and you can tell the owner is proud of his farm. Check in at the gift shop if you want a private tour around the property. They also host private events and weddings. The lake is just the perfect back drop for photographs for that special day. I love and support local business. So I highly recommend you to visit Christel Lake Lavender when you in the Port Perry area and check out what they offers.

You've got to try the Duck!!…read more I've heard of this place since last year but never made it until their annual duck fest. This review will be based on the festival and the venue. There's a few parking area (on grass and cement) but be prepared for a far-ish walk. They have 2 lines, one for preregistered and one for regular. Be prepared to wait! However the lines move fairly quickly, so it's not too bad. We were given a "passport" where vendors stamped so that you can only go to each one once, which I thought was a great idea. This year they had 10 vendors = 10 sampling stations! They were all very nice and gave very decent portions. Half way through I was pretty full already. Some of my favourites were the duck wings and smoked duck breast. Our last stop concluded at the Farm Fresh Store where you can buy all sorts of duck products. This place was madness! Super busy with only 2 counters to check out and no place to put the stuff you wanted to buy. Overall I still managed to get what I wanted but I would like to come back in the future to look through the items carefully. It was a fun event and I can't wait for next year!
