My wife and I have stayed here 3 years in a row and we absolutely love the area, lots of trails for hiking, a near by Golf Course at Canaan Valley Resort, Seneca Rocks are close by for day time activities. The towns of Davis and Thomas are also close by with tons of good shops, breweries, and restaurants. We absolutely love this part of the country. The cabins have everything you need whether you want to stay in and cook in their fully equipped kitchen, all you need to bring is food & drinks! There are even Charcoal grills at every cabin and the Jacuzzi hot tubs are perfect to pass the mornings & evenings away. Our cabin Serenity had a pool table and bubble hockey game upstairs. Plenty of DVD's, dish network tv, puzzles, books, and some games. The beds are a little firm for our taste, but that is really the only negative that I have. Not ridiculous but just wish they were softer. We can't wait to go back next year!

I call it a resort because it absolutely fits the definition of a resort which is a place that is a popular destination for vacations or recreation, or which is frequented for a particular purpose. The destination is popular for all Canaan Valley activities (skiing, horse back riding, cavern exploration, etc). We frequent these cabins for recreation, relaxation, rest and recuperation. The cabins are second to none and the attention to detail is simply amazing. The cabins are decorated with five star quality and they all present that home away from home feeling. The kitchens have all the appliances, dishes, pots and pans that you need in order to prepare those home cooked meals while living in your home away from home. This was our second time visiting this luxury cabin resort and we decided to bring our brother and sister along for a birthday celebration. My wife and I stayed in the Royale Cabin and my Brother and sister stayed in the Majestic Cabin. When we arrived we walked right into our cabin and were amazed by the captivating appeal. The soft music was playing in the background and the cozy gas fireplace had the place warm and toasty inside. Both cabins were even meticulously decorated for Christmas holiday which was a very nice touch. Daniel & Jamie Marsh are Simply Outstanding and you can tell that they care about their customers experience. They have thought of everything in order to make your stay extremely enjoyable and relaxing to include the jacuzzi/Hot tub which was excellent during the winter nights. We will FOREVER support them and this astonishing luxury cabin resort because they understand professionalism, quality, customer appeal and customer service. Ella's Enchanted Treehouses - One of the many fairy gardens

Such a cool place…read more My family and I (two adults, two kids) stayed in the Gathering Tree. It featured three beds, a master bedroom with a private deck, a large main deck, a spiral staircase, a dining room table, mini fridge, hot plate, two futons, kitchen utensils, a small TV with DVD player and coffee making equipment. There are lots of places to lounge both inside and outside the tree. Outside the treehouse there is a fire pit which we used for s'mores and potatoes. There is a place to purchase firewood right on Ella's property. The property has a .75 mile trail through the woods with numerous animal discoveries along it. My son and I enjoyed trying to find them all and predict what would come next. The property also had many fairy gardens around it. There is also a fort building area giving families many options to do outside. Ella's is an awesome, upscale nature experience in the Deep Creek area. We will definitely return during our next visit to Deep Creek.

I love getting away and being surrounded by nature and this by far is the place to do just that. We stayed at the gathering tree... inside and outside the tree house exceeded our expectations. As soon as we stepped in we felt relaxed and excited. We explored some nearby state parks, enjoyed a fire outside, sat on the back deck to drink our morning coffee, went for walks, played games and enjoyed just being in a treehouse! Cannot say enough about it!

The furniture in room 1 was terrible, from the seating on the front porch not being in good condition to the recliners being very worn down and not easy for our elderly parents to get out of. The dining room chairs you could tell had been repaired many times and not the safest to set in and there are only four dining room chairs as it is. The queen bed in the room we slept in was flipped for some odd reason to the bottom of the mattress being at the head of the bed and it is stated in the rules to not move furniture. The mattress was so hard and uncomfortable. Upon inspection there is alot of dirt and such at the head of the bed between mattress and box spring. The mattress cover on this same bed was torn and wouldn't really even stay on the bed. There were used toiletries left in the restroom I'm assuming from previous guest. A air hockey table was listed as the amenities but when our boys went to play it there is no power cord so not usable so be aware that's not a plus. The legs on the air hockey table where very wobbly as well. Upon arrival also there is a written notice of the abundance of flies which to a point is understanding but then it's very noticeable that they are being attracted by the trailer that is loaded down with trash that's sitting at the office. It is not very professional when the only way you can reach any staff is pushing a ring door bell. A plus was the hot tub but yet you could tell when the jets were not on it was not very clean.

April. Off season, Canaan Valley. Perfect time to enjoy a fabulous getaway and get your batteries…read morerecharged! TFSR - Timberline Four Seasons Realty - is the management company for a large number of high-end properties located in Canaan Valley. The house we rented, WinterHaven #90, was a large, open 5-bedroom pivately owned property located at the top of the mountain. The house seemed to be be fairly new and was very well kept, with most of the parts in great order. Here's the GOOD: hardwood and granite, throughout. 6 bathrooms. Two complete laundry rooms. Massive stove and kitchen area. Vaulted ceilings. Woodsy, ski themed art consistent throughout. Furnishings were amazing, beautiful leather couches and three stonework fireplaces. Large hottub, under roof. Two wine refrigerators. Two microwaves. Big dishwasher (but mine is an 18-inch, so what do I know??). Great response time to complaints. Two outside gas grilles on a massive wrap around deck. Whole house sound system. Spectacular water pressure!!! Very, very clean, throughout. Here's the not-as-Good: Lightswitches everywhere. Burned out bulbs everywhere - yes, it was end-of peak season, but it was crazy. While we were out they came and immediately replaced bulbs - filling a garbage can with bulb packaging. Main fireplace was gas, but broken with 'part on order'. They returned $50 for the inconvenience. Hubby went around and picked up garbage, too much to ignore. In fairness, they cannot clear a season's worth of littering from an entire mountain the second the snow is gone. So they are ahead by one. Main microwave did not work. And finally, also relatively minor: The single refrigerator was too small to accomodate 4-days of eat-in-and-relax for four people. As you see, minor blips. We would go back in a minute! Love Canaan in the Spring, Summer & Fall! Not a skiier, cannot comment on Winter...

My wife and I had a very disappointing experience renting from this company over Thanksgiving…read moreweekend this year. From a customer service perspective they are very nice people who present themselves as genuinely interested in providing good service but they are poorly organized and don't seem to know what's going on with the properties they manage. We rented a first property, paid, signed contract and thought we were set up. Then an hour later the lady who worked with me called back to say the, per the maintenance man who had happened to stop by the rental office soon after we booked, the property for whatever reason was not in rentable condition. Yet it was posted on their website as such and when I checked back the next day it was still posted as available to rent. I wonder what would've happened if the maintenance man hadn't stopped in?? To make up for their error they offered 2 other properties with a 25% discount which still made them hundreds of dollars more expensive than the property we had picked. We agreed to rent one of them because it looked like a nice place and it showed the amenities we required, chief among which was Internet access which they listed as "high speed Internet". When we arrived the house was a nice place and overall it was clean but the Internet was not functioning, there were no house instructions available except for unintelligible instructions for lighting the gas grill since the printing on the igniter had worn off. We started off our 4 day visit with having to wait for hours between waiting for the maintenance man to stop by to show us how to light the fire and for the Internet provider to "refresh" the internet signal to the house. The Internet came on after the refresh but then was back out the next morning which led to more hours waiting around for calls from the provider which never came. Finally the next day the internet provider called the house with apologies. He said that in the best of times the internet connectivity in our area, being quite rural, was not good and that especially given the large numbers of tourists in the area for the holiday weekend it was all the worse. Given that admission from the internet provider my feeling is the realtor misrepresented the property by listing "high speed internet" as an amenity. As I said the realty company employees were nice and responsive for the most part but they obviously didn't know what was going on with this property, I could list a few other issues that could easily be tended to if someone were paying attention. They list clearly in their contract, bold and underlined that no refunds will be given for problems with a property which they have no knowledge of. Given that stipulation and our experience my feeling is they have motivation to promise much, deliver short and claim ignorance of any shortcomings with a property. We have had much better experiences overall dealing with Mountaintop realty in Canaan Valley and will not rent from Timberline again after this.
