There are some repairs that are needed in the cabin. The chairs on the porch were both broken. The chairs around the fire were broken. The wall in the kitchen of the cabin was coming apart. The dishes were put away dirty from the previous tenants. The Wi-Fi is horrible. I hate to complain, but these are simple things that should be noticed by staff and rectified. Would we come back, probably. It is a beautiful area. The caverns were very cool, and our guide Rowan was great.

We were greeted by a massive parking lot and colorful sign. When we entered the gift shop to buy our tickets for the caverns, we learned that this is WV's largest gift shop. How cool! Our tour started promptly (looks like they run every half our) with Austin as our guide. He was so friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. It was so cool and spooky to be in a cave learning about stalagmites and stalactites. This is the perfect activity for folks of all ages, as it's not a heavy lift effort wise. The premises also have mini golf and "gold mining", as well as ice cream and plenty of gifts. Great place to stop and enjoy some time with the family! PS. Don't forgot to tip your fabulous tour guides.

We had a great breakfast, virtual tour, and hike on the property. The new owners are so accommodating, we could not wait to come back and experience true mountain charm. This is a unique place to stay for a getaway in West Virginia. The Inn is located about 8 miles…read moredown a single-track, winding road, so it really feels off the grid. You look out your window at trees, forests, and ridges. The owners have created a warm, friendly environment, with many decorations that make for a rustic feel. Overall the Inn is a really nice place to stay, but here are a few things to consider: - The driveway is a lengthy (0.2-mile), gravel-covered, steep hill. We have an SUV and each time we went up the driveway our lights went on indicating unstable traction. Keep this in mind if you have a smaller vehicle or plan to go in the snowy months. - Breakfast is complimentary and dinner is provided for an additional fee ($30 per person per night and $45 on Saturdays). The food is delicious and all home-made. Ed is a fantastic chef - see many pics posted below. However, he makes a set amount of food per-person and there is no extra food. The first night we were there my wife and I had done a long hike in the afternoon and we were very hungry. Dinner was tasty but it was not enough food for us. When I asked if we could have more Ed said there was none. So consider your personal needs when thinking about meals. Since the Inn is so secluded, it is not easy to drive to a restaurant (20-30 minutes at least). - Breakfast is at 8am and dinner is at 7pm. This is a reasonable schedule for most people. My wife and I are early risers though and found ourselves up long before breakfast, so it ended up feeing like we had to wait around before starting our day (there is a coffee & tea station setup that you can go to at any time of day). Again, this will work for some people but not others. - The wifi is spotty. It's good enough to look up directions on Google maps but you can't stream a show or movie if that's your kind of thing to do on vacation. - There were a few extra charges that we didn't expect. For example, dinner Saturday night was $45 per person and Ed offered us wine with dinner (he is a sommelier and has a great selection). We were surprised to see that the wine was $15 per glass when we got our final bill at checkout. We could have asked of course, but we didn't think of it and Ed didn't mention it.

One of our favorite parts is the community aspect - there is a communal fire pit that is lit every night, there are 4 gas grills for cooking, and we always enjoy hanging out and chatting with other guests. It is a warm and fun atmosphere. Colette is a gracious and welcoming host - she's always around and checking on everyone, asking if we need extra blankets or towels etc. Even though they're tents, they are clean! The bedding and towels are soft and smell amazing. There is a central bath house that is clean and has nice showers. Get a tent with a private hot tub if you can - it is worth it! Highly recommend.
