They'll always be together in electric dreams though. Call me. This mall is pretty cool and fancy and useful for everyone in the Lansing area, and with a traditional layout, with a large food court, and the sad part is it's kind of quiet. The outdoor stores across the street are 34 times as busy. This means that usually, for people who like checking out the hotties of either gender at malls, there are not that many hot people here, and I was left wondering to some degree how the Mall stores pay their bills.

It's literally a vintage trove of things that if you're willing to dig around you can find something interesting. They carry everything from computers, decorative knickknacks, clothes, shelves, research equipment, furniture,etc.

I noticed this tiny little shop and stopped in while in town. It's chock full of lots of interesting and unique items, all with a science-y theme. It's definitely a bit niche, but if you know someone who loves science, this is a great place to get gifts. Every inch of the store had something interesting to look at, from neuron and brain earrings, to microbiology themed washi tape, circuit board coasters, recreations of renaissance sundials, all sorts of space-themed items, puzzles, games, anatomical chocolate hearts, insect fossils... you get the idea. We had our kido with us and decided it was still worth taking a look, regardless of the very hateful messages on the front door. Upon entering the owner told us we couldn't come in with our child because the business was, "too small." I literally was too confused to argue much but said something along the lines of, "that doesn't seem very accepting, even though your sign outside makes you seem, like you want to seem, "very accepting." We're weird like that. Anyway, the weather on my trip had been pretty mild EXCEPT the damn day we decided to visit Old Town. It was bitter cold and kind of raining but we tried to make the best of it. Old Town is comprised of mixture of local, small businesses and it is also the greater Lansing area's arts district. Indeed there are several art galleries and studios, as well as interior design stores. I walked into a couple of the stores looking for gifts to take home, but found that most of the shops sell tchotchkes. The interior design places had nice stuff, but most of the items were pretty expensive. Al in all, it's a nice little area to walk around in the afternoon. Some years ago I went to an awesome beer festival here; I assume they host a decent amount of festivals in the area. I think that there's still a lot of work to be done in the area, they definitely need more restaurants and a greater offering (and cheaper) at the stores.
