Reference date SEPT 25, 2021 The TV in our new travel trailer failed, and Josh Caverson helped negotiate a warranty replacement with the manufacturer. In addition, he climbed on top of our trailer and found that one of the exterior wiring ports had not been sealed, causing water to leak into the bedroom, which he then patched. Also while picking the replacement TV our bunk slideout malfunctioned, and Mr. Caverson asked one of the techs, named Michael, to look for the problem. He discovered the reason and showed me how to fix it myself should it reoccur, which it did a couple more times before we were able to get the slideout motor replaced at our Kansas City destination. We purchased our "used only by a single woman for a few months" 5th wheel in January 2021, made arrangements for them to store it after we inspected it with daughter and grandchildren. Went to pick it up in the spring after calling them to make sure the prep is done, our accessories were added and the protection package was done after a one and a half hour drive, not only wasn't it done, the camper looked like someone lived in it, piss on the side of the toilet, grease on the vent hood and a dog turd behind the recliner were the highlights but it was gross. Oops, forgot to do the protection too, they said the protection package was done until I insisted on seeing the paperwork, then they admitted it was not done. They felt making us wait to complete the cleaning and so called protection package was ok because it was an "accident". Now we brought it in for service because the fridge held at 50 to 55 degrees, left it, they called, all done! Nothing wrong! We drove it home 1 1/2 hours... refrigerator was coated with mold inside, they swore they checked it before calling, lol no one opened it and missed that mold! they simply left it on their lot with the refrigerator closed for a week. Even a newbie that doesn't sell campers knows better than to do that. So once again we cleaned up after them. We paid to have them install a satellite dish upon purchase, it still doesn't work, they recommended and sold us a system not compatible and didn't finish the wiring. We are still going back and forth on that. Right now I feel I am their unpaid employee, cleaning up their messes and paying a lot to get a functioning tv for the hubby. If you must buy from them, don't buy any extras, warranty, accessories or protection for the outside or inside! Just get it professionally inspected hook it up and run away with it. read more

Not cheap and terrible customer service. I had a terrible experience in the camping world of Tucson. I bought a RV this summer and spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars at Camping World. I bought a water hose with default (leak) and asked for a refund 2 weeks after my purchase. The cashier was very rude and extremely unpleasant. She told me that she could not refund me $24 and that I had to send the water hose back to the manufacturer, then she told me I should have kept my recipe even after 2 weeks. No refund. I will not return to Camping World never ever. read more

Finance dept is HORRIBLE!!!!! They try to play games and not tell you the terms of your loan! They do financing in house and its a rip off.....even with excellent credit and huge down payment!!!! We had a wonderful camper-buying experience at Camping World! We found an old Class C motorhome on RVTrader.com, but since we live quite far from Houghton Lake (almost a 3 hour drive), we called to make sure it was still there, still in good running condition, etc. Someone named Cody happened to take our call and answered all our questions, and said he would be there on Saturday so we could ask for him to show it to us. We called again Saturday on our way up north (from Ferndale) and got Cody again, made sure that RV was still available and said we were on our way. When we arrived, we were greeted like friends and taken right out to the camper (on a golf cart ride, which was fun). Cody went through all the maintenance records with us, opened up the vehicle and let us kick the tires, poke the buttons and test everything. We plugged in to electric & water to make sure those systems worked, and took it for a test drive. Cody did a good job of being available to answer questions but giving us space to talk amongst ourselves, and ultimately we decided to buy it. The paperwork was less high-maintenance than buying a car, but being a very busy weekend it did take a while to get it all through the system. We never felt pressured or "sold" anything, we felt like everyone we spoke to was very friendly and helpful. We couldn't take it home that day because we wanted to get a quote from our local insurance agent (closed that weekend), so we went back 3 days later to pick it up. When we arrived, it was getting all gassed up and ready for us, so Cody helped us pick out any supplies we might need (as part of a weekend special, we also got a $25 Camping World gift card, Good Sam Elite membership, and free Good Sam camping directory). He never steered us toward expensive stuff, and was honest about what items were necessary and which weren't. We were there only long enough to pick out what we wanted, and by then our camper was ready and we took it home! And we love it!!! Cody told us to call him anytime if we had more questions, and he called a few days later to check in with us too. We've had some unpleasant experiences at other large RV retailers; at General RV we've always been treated like we weren't worth their time because we don't have a huge budget & they only want to sell brand new $100K+ rigs. Even though we came specifically to Camping World to see probably the oldest, cheapest camper on their lot, we were treated like old friends and had a very pleasant experience. We would recommend them to anybody! read more

This is Bill and Karen Riedel. While traveling cross country, the hot water heater in our brand new motor home went out on us. We stopped at Camping World Houghton Lake and were treated so great. They did not make us wait and changed out the circuit board in 30 minutes and had us on our way. We fully expected to be stuck for at least 24 hours. We're so grateful to the entire staff. The worst customer service in the camping world. (See what I did there? LOL.) The salesperson reeled us in like suicidal bait on the end of a line, and we were eager to jump in the predator's jaws. We jumped hard and now suffer great remorse. We've had several issues and each one has been a hassle because we always get sent to another person, or get a voicemail, and then, NO ONE bothers to call back ... not ever. So far, broken hitch on the first day - the only problem they actually DID resolve after my husband had to reach the point of head explosion. Broken generator right out of the box which they will not return. Temp. plate expired 7 days ago, and the permanent was supposed to arrive in the mail two weeks ago ... still nothing, so we have to go to SOS and try to resolve the problem. (My husband and I both work so this is causing us to take an early afternoon off.) They screwed up the financing paperwork. We've had battery and fuse problems on the RV, and this directly violates their promise of this massive inspection that everything is tip-top and replaced if not working. Not true ... all hype. All of this ... and guess what? The camper has not even left the driveway yet! Do yourselves a favor, avoid doing business with these people. I may be reporting them to the BBB before it's all said and done. I can forgive a few kinks, but I will not tolerate crappy customer service when we just dropped nearly 30K in their laps. I would give it no stars. We brought our travel trailer to trade off and was told they didn't want it because it smelled like cigarettes smoke. We have never smoked in it and wasn't willing to deal with us any further. They don't want to eve work with anyone on making a deal. My friends tried to buy a 5th wheeler and they would even deal with them. I will never step foot in there again. My brother fell in there store and they didn't even ask him if he was ok, one guy just laughed. Stay away if I was you, was abig waste of my time and money! read more

Worst transaction ever. Over charged for switching sway bar bracket from trade in to new ($150) Didn't pay off the trade in on time ( three weeks later) and ended up with a late payment notice on the trade in that was supposed to be paid off. Even though I have in their word's "steller" credit the financing they found was with an extremely high finance rate. There were other problems as well, to many to list. I will never buy or recommend anybody buy from them again!! read more

All I needed was a new electric tongue jack. I was quickly assisted and had part "on sale" at the counter within minutes. Sadly, it went even more quickly down hill from there. I was informed after stating I was not a member that I would pay full price. I don't do that kinda thing with any business and I would never pay to give someone my personal info. I declined and requested that I be rung up at full price as I needed it that day. I, a 50 year old man was given a impromptu life lesson from a kid that even involved a calculator showing me a $60 dollar savings, of course no subtraction of the $27 member fee was entered into the calculator. I said 3 times total to ring it up at regular price before my wishes were respected. No kid would take that on himself to push a customer so hard to join the club without direction from superiors. It was shameful, and I understood why I had just recently see their stock dropped 52%. Be careful in today's world, ask how important is for you to have the company that wants into your wallet. read more

We started searching for a new camper in the beginning of spring. We found a style (Keystone Sprinter Limited) that we were set on (2 different layouts). We found one at the Camping World in Grand Rapids but they would not assist us with the price that we wanted. We continued to look and found the one we were looking for in Houghten Lake. It didn't take but a day or two to finalize the price and we were on our way to sign papers (we live in Grand Rapids). We were surprised at how organized they were. We went from one area to another as they explained the process. It was quick and easy. Our biggest wait time was the financing area. We waited for at least 45 minutes to get in the office and go through the paperwork. We had a trade in and normally we have to deliver it to them. However, our camper was in Silver Lake (seasonal) and they delivered the new one and took the old one within an hour of arriving. Very nice and knowledgeable staff. The only thing we would recommend is that they have different processes for those that already owned a camper and those that don't. There was a lot of time spent on things we already knew and didn't need. When in the finance office we sat through a long spiel about things that didn't pertain to us because we are on a season lot. Other than that we had a great experience and would recommend this company to others. read more

called to make a appointment to get my motor home worked on had several things to get fixed. they told us friday 8 am was as so as they could get us in this was monday or tuesday so we said fine an gave them a list of some of the things we needed fixed.took the motor home there thur. night stayed in the parking lot so we would be there on time. the pulled it inwe had told the to start with the air conditioners . they did an told us that one didnt work an needed to be replaced . ok replace it they said we dont have any ok the other one has a broken wire . ok fix it. that will take a technician an he is booked up an very busy. ok fix the hot water heater . that will take a tech. also. ok fix my hose reel that will take the tech also.ok you offer 400 different tires how about balancing my front tires i have a little shake no dont do that either.ok how about fixing my fuel guage nope takes the tech.they did oder a part for my steps for over a thousand bucks but thats fine ill be the tech and put in on my self when it gets i about 2 weeks ill be gone but they will ship it to me. so we are done here 229 to tell me this stuff didnt work an couldnt fix it or didnt have parts another question i have is when they booked me to get it worked on who was going to do the work if the tech was to busy. not to mention the over 60 miles to get it there and my wife an my time........p.s. i already knew that that stuff didnt work i didnt need you to tell me that i needed you to fix it......pss sorry about the miss spelling an bad grammar im not good at this but im not [charging for it ] read more
