I am sad to say that we have had a terrible experience with Camping World of Concord. We did have a good buying experience and were able to buy a camper hassle-free. However, when we wanted to bring the camper back to fix some factory defects, a broken hitch, and our converter that had blown, we had nothing but trouble. We were told that our warranty did not cover the broken hitch though it broke immediately. We were also told it would take a month to get our camper back. We understood that it may take a little bit to get in the factory parts, but did not see why it would take this long. I called and spoke with a manager and was assured that we would not have to pay for the hitch replacement and that our camper should not take anywhere near a month. Well, over a month later and we just got our camper back. I honestly believe we only got it back so soon because we called and complained about how terrible their customer service is. We played phone and email tag with Nikki, one of the service workers. She would email once and then never respond, if she responded in the first place. She told us that we did need to pay for the replacement hitch and that we also needed to pay for our camper being winterized even though Camping World had had our camper for over month, longer than we had had it home. When I expressed my frustrations to Nikki, she acted like she understood but still tried to charge us for the replacement hitch and for winterizing. We finally called and continued to complain and were told the fee would be handled. We chose Camping World because we thought such a well-known company would be reliable. However, buying this camper is our biggest regret. Unfortunately, we have had nothing but problems and will be seeking a different Camping World to have our service needs met. The lack of customer service and professionalism that the employees at this location show are a disgrace to a company that is supposed to be renowned. If you are thinking about buying a camper here, do so with great caution. Once you pull it off of the lot, they will be extremely reluctant to help you. read more

All sales NO service! Our brand new RV has some kinks to work out- all under warranty. Before a long trip up to NY, we needed the rear camera and other item to keep food cold while driving (i.e switch to gas) to be fixed. When my husband brought it up there 2 weeks prior to our trip, they told him 'Since you are under warranty, you are NOT a priority'.. WTF??? Really.. Tom Johnson Camping World just told a customer they are not a priority since they just bought a BRAND NEW RV? There are several sales people and zero service people. They are a joke. They made up stories about the part they needed was missing.. and never did a thing except leave dirt and the dinette seat cushions tossed about. I cringe trying to get the RV fixed at this place. booo read more

Worst experience I've had EVER. My 2017 Hurricane has been in the shop since July of 2017! They will not return my calls to even give me an update on my RV. This will be the last time going to this location IF I can ever even get my RV back. read more

We had a horrible experience with Tom Johnson Camping world RV repair. After having the Trailer towed there, they still had not ordered the new wheel rim after 11 weeks and we had to have it towed to another RV repair center that was much closer to Asheville. They fixed it within 2-3 weeks and updated us every few days. We suspect the problem was from faulty repair work when the axel was recalled by Shasta and they have Tom Johnson do their warranty work. Shasta RV's was also informed of the many issues we had with Camper World Tom Johnson centez irony is they had the gall to tell us they were busy with Customer Appreciation weekend and could not help us! We will never use them again!!! read more

We had wonderful service when we were buying our travel trailer, but when it came to warranty work after a month we still haven't seen our travel trailer. No calls no follow up, it took them 3 weeks to figure out the radio and charging unit were broken. Still not fixed and have no idea when it will be fixed. Will never buy another rv from a Camping World or Tom Johnson company. read more

Do NOT patronize this place - worst customer service ever. I took my camper in for repairs and they held on to it for four weeks without doing much of anything without me having to prod them. They never called back, never answered emails, and when I escalated to the service manager, there was even less concern. They seemed nice at first, but they were ghosts - they never took any action. On top of all this frustration, no one ever apologized for the inconvenience. I even took my complaints to Camping World corporate - I have yet to hear back. Bottom line - buyer beware. These people do not care about the quality of their service and they don't care about their customers. Find other folks who care about your business and patronize them - I ran out of this place and I will not be back. I think the other reviews tell the story pretty well - the only reason these folks are in business is because of their location. read more

They were great when they sold it me, but when I needed warranty work done? Dropped it off on June 12th. The work order said it took 1.5 hrs to fix...Called left voice msg's, talked to mgr's and the work did not finish until July 29th. They did not care. Run, run run! Once you buy the RV/Camper run away from this location. They are unable to follow through on anything. I am unsure how they make it in to work in the morning as they seem to be incapable of doing anything that they say will do. You will feel like you are in the Twilight Zone, you go in and go through all the steps and items that need to be fixed under the warranty and the next time you go in, they have lost your photos, lost your paper and have no idea why you are there. This has happened a total of 8 times, they lost photos and paperwork that we gave, they lost photos and paperwork that their own tech's provided after coming out to our trailer on 3 separate occasions. In the last two months we provided photos, twice for items to get fixed under warranty and they lost those. They set appointments and will not be there, I have had to speak with 3 different GM's in order to get nothing done. Once I get things moving, the GM leaves and they will not give you their Regional Managers information because he doesn't want to be bothered. They are publicly traded so this information has to be provided.... read more

I purchased a class A motor home 40 ft. diesel pusher in July of last year sales men was Mike. it has taken this long because it was the worst experience of my life. THEY ONE STAR REVIEW IS ONLY BECAUSE THEY WANT ONE IT SHOULD BE 0 STAR I was told the RV would be gone over front to back for safety related problems they also said they would service all the oils and filters. I also had a complaint with the right front wheel clunk and the tempature gage reading way to high. I left my deposit and let them go over it in the 3 weeks I was away. I was told it would be 100 % safe and ready to travel up north right away. I came back and they assured me it was completely done and ready so we did all the paper work and gave them 100,000.00 dollars and drove it home. I started to check things out on my own so I could learn about it. right away I saw no grease fittings greased and started to look at the filters, they where never touched the air filter completely clogged generator never touched low pressure in all tires. they never even looked at anything. when I did call I was told the only thing they would do is service the engine and generator. to grease it and check tire pressure was a extra charge. the they would not check the brakes or do anything else. I contacted James the manager and he agreed with his service dept. I ended up greasing it myself as well as the tires and brakes. I also fixed the running hot problem myself. they are so happy to sell but do not do anything they promised to do THEY ARE HORRIBLE AND EVERYONE STAY AWAY AND BEWARE, YOU ARE RISKING YOUR LIFE DEALING WITH THEM! read more

Do not buy a RV or Camper from Tom Johnson ! I bought a new 5th Wheel Toy Hauler (Heartland Cyclone). The automatic Jacks never worked right. It has been in the shop for months at a time. The surround sound and the air conditioner has never worked right either. The generator has had several problems. They promise the moon when they are selling the junk , but hope it doesn't break during Nascar . The drivers take priority over a regular paying customer. Since it has been in the shop 6 of the 14 months we have had it ; we asked if we could purchase extended warranty. They said "NOPE". Now what does that tell you? It's a piece of junk and they know it !!! read more

I drove over two hours last Saturday to keep an appointment with a sales rep. He called me when I was about an hour out to say he was too busy, to see another rep, whose name he gave me. He called me again when I was nearly there to say that rep was too busy too, and to just check in at the reception desk. Mind you, he emailed me and called multiple times to make sure I was coming! When I got there, there was no one free to help us. They pointed out the units I wanted to see and I and my friend did so ourselves. I then wanted to take a test drive. No one to help us again. It took nearly an hour, and when someone did surface, he got the unit stuck in a ditch, so no test drive. Meanwhile, I observed other people being helped, even taken on golf carts to go see units. The star treatment! I will say the receptionist and that poor rep who got the unit stuck in a ditch were nice, but to have been wooed to drive that distance and then blown off made me angry. The people I saw being helped were married couples. I am female and my companion was female. This is just an observation and you can make of it what you will. read more

Wish I had the option of leaving 0 stars. Worst experience I have had. And it wasn't the first time we had unsatisfactory work. Took our 5th Wheel in for some simple repairs that we pointed out and wrote down in detail, one of which was to repair the shower faucet, an upgraded toilet and their 45 point inspection they talked us in to in order to be sure everything was up to snuff for our month long Christmas trip to see family. They charged us $2000.00 to replace the canopy and install a new toilet and when we got the unit home and ready to leave for our trip found the shower plumbing hanging out of the shower stall wall. We stupidly assumed they did what they said they did and we never opened the shower stall to look at it. There were numerous things on OUR list to repair and ended up having to do them ourselves. We made many many calls to the service manager in charge of our unit and never talked to her in person. Always a voice message. We are so disappointed and mad and all we can do is warn others that if you want service don't go to Tom Johnson. We are planning on upgrading to a Motorhome and thought we'd probably buy from Tom Johnson since that's where we bought our 5th Wheel but NO WAY. We will do our future business elsewhere. I did get a good deal on an RV but the RV had some damage above the steps into the RV. Someone had peeled off the plastic scuff protector. I bought it Thanksgiving weekend and went back the following week to make an appointment. They said I could bring it back in next week but that there were 900 RV's ahead of mine. I could park it on the top of the hill and they would get to it when they could. I didn't care to permanently park my RV there. I asked if they could call when they were ready to do it. I could be there in 10 minutes. That was not an option.There was also some wiring hanging from the back drivers side. . You can see where they taped it up to get by. The mattress above the cab needs replaced since it wasn't sewn next to the zipper. I dropped it into a Tractor Trailer shop 2 days ago and had the damage painted. They also fixed the wiring problem. I am sure I have a better paint job than I would have received from Tom Johnson anyway. Of course, it is not paid for under warranty even though the shop is authorized to do the warranty for Freighliner, Kidron and Morgan truck bodies. Try to call them for anything and you will get an answering machine and never a call back. You might be able to talk to someone about buying an RV but no one else! I am still waiting for my plates for my class C. The temporary one expires tomorrow. read more

Purchased a travel trailer at the end of November. The salesman, Ian, was very nice and helpful at the time of the sale. We were told that we would do a walk-through inspection of the trailer where all of our questions about the trailer would be answered. Whenever one of us would ask a question during the inspection, the employee seemed really annoyed and irritated. At the time of purchase, my boyfriend's truck did not have the proper hitch on it, and we were told we could pick it up at any time, to just call ahead. We called on Friday, 12/8 and no one answered; we left a voicemail stating that we wanted to pick the trailer up later that day or that weekend. Hours went by and we called again and left another voicemail, which was not returned. Monday rolls around and the call was still not returned. We called again and left another voicemail. We tried to get in touch with someone multiple times so that we could pick up our trailer. Every person we were transferred to did not answer the phone and did not return voicemails. After multiple calls on Monday, we finally got in touch with someone Monday evening and stated we wanted to pick the trailer up the next day. We went to pick up the trailer on Tuesday around noon. We had the trailer hitch and everything installed on my boyfriend's truck before we went. Being first time trailer owners, we asked for help to connect the trailer to the hitch. We were told that they "would have to charge us" to help, even though we purchased an $18,000 trailer from them. read more

I called one week in advance and asked if they take boats as a trade in. They said yes and asked for all the info on my boat. I told them I could come on a Friday (5 days away) and for them to have a quote in mind for my boat so we could speed up the appointment time(I was coming with two children). The whole week leading up to my appointment I was receiving texts from Emily asking for boat info assuming she was doing her job. I arrived at 4:30pm Friday to find a camper I would be trading my boat for. We spent 2 hours walking and look with the saleswoman(Danielle who did great!). Find a camper and head back to start papers. Kids getting restless by now, Danielle starts asking questions about the boat, the same questions I had sent answers to multiple time throughout the week to Emily. Turns out, nobody had done their job and even used any of my info to find a quote for our boat!! Nothing bad even been done!! Now it's 6:15pm and no boat places are open to find a quote for us and the ask us to come back another day. Ummm...no!!!! I asked a week ago almost for you to do your job and you failed!! I live 3 hour round trip! I refuse to come back when you've had 5 days to do what I assumed was being done! They lost a $70k sale. Then I approach the manager of sales(or someone who was over my sale) and ask why nothing had been done this entire week. He rudely gets on his phone texting and then starts arguing with me that I was upset over the ONE quote they JUST got. I had no idea what the quote was because that wasn't the issue, the issue was their lack of professionalism and failed to do their job! After reading all of these reviews, there is no way they'd get my business!!!! And from the way it sounds, they don't care about the customers they run off. Bad business!! In the past 10 years I have purchased over 100 trucks and equipment for my business. This purchase for my RV at camping World was by FAR the WORST experience ever! I purchased the RV in October. It is now 2 days before Christmas and I still do not have it. Keep in mind, they were paid in full in October. The sad part is they had it in Stock! They delivered the unit to Harrisburg Camping World. I was told I could come and pick it up. Great, I drove an hour to get it. Lights did not work, no pins for bunks, was not winterized, no keys for the unit AND no capture plate for my fifth wheel that I ordered thru parts department in Harrisburg and PAID to have it installed before I pickup up the unit. Without capture plate, I have no way of pulling. I also called before I drove there to be sure they had the capture plate and it was on. They said "yes sir, it will be 100% ready for you" Before Concord shipped the unit to Harrisburg my sales rep said "I personally went over the unit and everything is great, unit looks awesome" Well, maybe they should have some sort of quality control other than a sales rep, because it is obvious nobody looked over the unit before it as shipped to Harrisburg. This is just the start of this disaster of a sales transaction. I told them to please fix the items and call me to pick up the 2nd time. Well, they called and said "ready to go" . I drove there for the 2nd time, NOT winterized, lights not working, UNBELIEVABLE! The 2nd attempt was black Friday. Told them fix the items AGAIN, and deliver the unit this time. That was a MONTH AGO! still NO CAMPER, NO phone call from a manager, NO response from my sales rep. they are now PAID IN FULL for almost 2 months!!!! I have no idea how these people are in business. Their customer service and service department are terrible. They make an appointment to bring it in, in our case to repair an electrical issue and a wall panel on a brand new 2016 pioneer. Three weeks later it had not gotten into the service bay yet, was told to pick it up the next day. It wasn't ready until 5 pm on a Friday so I came on Saturday. Our walk thru when we purchased it was extremely quick( we are first time buyers, so we didn't know what to ask, our fault here.). I asked for another walk thru and was charged $160.00 for this service, nothing on the work order about the electrical problem and the bedroom wall was not fixed. I noticed that they had left the tv out and when they ran the slide back in, they broke a piece of trim on the slide. It is back up there again for the same issues . Three days and still not repaired. Never again will Tom Johnson in Concord get another chance. read more

We purchased a used Toy Hauler from Tom Johnson in March 2015. Prior to delivery, the camper went into service where it was inspected top to bottom to make sure everything was working. Everything was working upon delivery and worked well until we took it for spring service to get it started for the year and immediately our mechanic found water damage that had been there long before we purchased the camper. We have not had the camper a year yet, so I called our salesperson immediately to explain the finding. Because Tom Johnson has been converted to Camping World our salesperson explained that they will do nothing to help resolve the fact that we were sold a unit that was cleared as damage free and in good working order to find that the damage was extensive. We were first time buyers and I think we've been taken for a ride here. They offered to trade for 2/3 of what we owe on it and we could pay "wholesale" price for another one.
