We used the private dining room for our family get together last night and had a wonderful time together. Our food was hot and delicious and everyone enjoyed their meal. Chicken Fried Steak is so good. The only reason I cannot give 5 stars is they are so very stingy with the gravy. The last 2 times I ordered extra gravy for the steak and the mashed potatoes I got a little gravy in the container with the mashed potatoes and no gravy for my steak. It was just ok. My husband got the blackened chicken which was small and I had the catfish. Not bad but not worth getting again.

Hold On - This ride is gonna get ugly. It has to be really bad for me to give a MOM & POP joint 1 star, but they deserve worse. Everything about this place was horrid. Haven't been here in a couple of years, but Yuck. It has gone down hill. All the serving sizes were very small & the quality was even worse. Chicken Fried Steak - dry, but the crust was ok. Mashed potatoes were the best thing of our whole meals but there was maybe 3 tablespoons worth and the chicken fried steak was smashed on top of it, so I'm thinking there wasn't even that much to begin with. The gravy was questionable and i swear it had a piece of crust inside of it as if it were recycled. Hardly any green beans in my container - mostly juice - maybe 3 spoonfuls of green beans. The toast - was cold and rubbery - how do you do that? was it recycled too? Catfish - I wish I had taken a pic of the catfish, but my phone was dead. I had 3 pieces and all were about the size of a dollar bill and just as thin. I didn't know it was possible to fry such a thin piece of fish, but it is possible when its dry and rubbery - no joke. The tartar sauce was sweet as if it were made with miracle whip instead of mayo (yuck). The fries were old, cold and not very many to speak of, but that was ok because we couldn't eat them. The hush puppies were cold and rubbery as well. Some employee walked around back and forth looking like he was nervous-sweating (drugs? definitely not work-sweat) with a giant knife attached to his belt - if only my catfish filets were as big as his knife. This made us very uncomfortable - is this a bad neighborhood? Should i be packing heat here? Is $h#t about to go down we should know about? I certainly wasn't about to complain about the horrible food or the 50 minutes it took to get our food, or the fact that some girl behind us in a Skimpy Outfit got all their (all males working today) attention and was offered a free drink to wait for her meal and we got nothing. She even got her food before us - and the "manager" even went up and asked if she was finding everything ok. Which is what i expect of a "NO-MASK worn by any employee" + "GUN-TOTIN'" type of establishment according to the t-shirts proudly worn by the employees. They should focus more on Food Cookin' & Customer Servin' I shudder to think what the bathrooms were like : / Anyway - we will never set foot in this place again. read more

My first disappointment occurred when I walked in and they were out of their SIGNATURE item ... TEXAS TUMBLEWEEDS. It was the whole reason we picked this particular place. The barbecue meatloaf wasn't bad but it was cold. We also got the bone in pork chop which was OK. The menu was definitely Not what I was expecting, based on the name "Campfire Grill". All in all it was not a bad experience, but with only two appetizers available and only a few actual dishes I was left a little disappointed. read more

We are from out of town and searched Yelp for something new and delicious. This place popped up and had good reviews, so we thought we'd give it a try. We had the chicken fried steak w/ gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a side salad with ranch. I noticed later that they have collard greens and really wanted to try those as well, so I added that on. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed with anything. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked/seasoned. My husband had the same meal with okra and mac & cheese instead. Everything we had was fresh and made from scratch. Even the okra was freshly cut and lightly battered. Nothing frozen here. No corners cut or shortcuts taken. Another nice surprise was seeing Tropical Punch Kool-Aid as a drink option. It brought me back to my childhood. Restrooms were clean, nothing fancy. Staff was friendly and attentive. When you arrive, you walk up to the counter to order and then you grab a table. They'll bring your food to you. We came because of the Yelp reviews and we'll come back again because of the quality! Definitely worth the trip whether you're a local or just visiting. read more

Do it! Do it! Do it! This place is an absolute diamond in the rough. While we often order to go, especially when we have friends/family over, the quality is never compromised. I order the BBQ chicken wings with double fried okra every time. I have tried a few other menu items, but this one takes the cake. The wings are large and cooked perfectly. NEVER dry or under seasoned. I am from the south, so I judge a place by the fried okra. Campfire fried okra is among the best I've ever had! Same thing with their ranch dressing. SO SO SO delicious. Make sure when you order to be specific and ask for their regular ranch (they have a green ranch - but i'm not a fan of it). The service is always great. The people are always kind. I'm not sure how they get such high reviews. My friend recommended this place since it had banana pudding. The truth is, neither of us had been, so we wanted someplace new. I ordered the chicken fried steak with green beans and mac and cheese. My buddy ordered the bbq meatloaf with green beans and mashed potatoes. Took advantage of the text offer for 15% off your first meal. I wasn't a big fan of the chicken fried steak, the breading was dry and sticks to the beef, the gravy was nearly a brown gravy and I hate brown gravy. The mac and cheese was average....not bad, just nothing special. The green beans may have been the best item on the plate. My buddies meatloaf was a little better than the cfs, thanks to the bbq sauce. At the end, we split a banana pudding since we were full and this was a decent banana pudding, just not spectacular. We had wanted to go to another place for banana pudding, but it was closed on Mondays. Doubt either of us will be back. read more

It's a small little restaurant tucked away in the corner of the strip mall, you can miss it if you're not looking for it. It's very neat and clean when you go inside and the soda machines are really cool, they're like old-fashioned soda machines. So when we get to the counter, there's a younger kid going to take our order and this older gentleman is getting onto him in front of everybody, that I do not agree with I think if you have something to say to your employees you need to take them away from the situation and move them to the back and talk to them, as a mom I thought that was very inappropriate and I felt so bad for the kid. Mom mode kicked in and I wanted to comfort him, he looked so defeated. So when we get up there, I told the young guy don't worry about it. He's doing a great job and me and my husband proceed to order. So my husband gets the chicken, fried steak, with macaroni and cheese, and green beans. I just wanted the kids burger and I had to try the fried bacon lol. So I get my food first, it's just a kids plain burger was mustard and ketchup and french fries. The bun was toasted really nice and the meat was really good, the fries had a nice seasoning on them too and it was a perfect portion size. I was waiting and waiting to eat, but my husband's food never came out?? All these other people were getting their food before us and we ordered before them and I was going to say something but my husband just said to wait. So then we get our appetizer the fried bacon I wanted to try. My fried bacon was good, crispy , totally different and the gravy was delicious that came with it, it was a different kind of white gravy with a little bit of spice, and I liked it. So I'm almost done eating, and then my husband's food comes out, that was very annoying because I like to eat together when we go out not me eat first and he hast to wait. They really need to work on that. He enjoyed his chicken fried steak and he said the macaroni and cheese was really creamy and good as well. We ordered the kids chicken tenders that comes with fries and the drink and the blackened catfish. The fish was a bit greasy, but seasoned well. I asked for tarter sauce and it did help a bit. The service was great and they came to keep checking to see if we needed anything! read more

We loved this little place! We got the chicken fried chicken, and chicken fried steak. The breading is nice and crispy, not heavy or greasy. The mashed potatoes were good, but the green beans were the best part. Loved the gravy too. It has a good flavor, and isn't just plain white gravy. The tumble weeds appetizer was good too, and I'm pretty sure it's sweet baby rays they are using for the bbq sauce which is always a winner. We took the banana pudding to go, and it is bomb! It's light, fluffy, and not overly sweet. The customer service was great too. We went about 45 minutes to close and they didn't mind a bit. Everyone was nice and seemed happy to be there. I was amazed at how good the blackened chicken salad was! Very fresh lettuce, and a generous amount of chicken. I would definitely order it again! I also like their smoked chicken wings a lot. It is hard to find good smoked wings in our area (especially now that JR's is gone! ), but the smoked wings at Campfire Grill are worth the trip! My husband adores the meatloaf, and always gets it with a side of mac & cheese. Nice casual cafe. I tried the tumbleweed appetizer- they were really good. I ordered the combo meal with shrimp and fish. I replaced the fries with collard greens. OMG, those greens were so tender and flavorful- nice chunks of bacon. The fish was cooked well, it was crunchy but tender on the inside. The shrimp was cooked well. The seasoning was good.
