I joined because I needed a Kickstart again to get back in shape. I have lost all the weight that i need to. Even my doctor told me I don't need to lose any more. But I am out of shape and need to tone up and get some strength back. I got the email about the challenge and was very interested. I had some emails with Eric and i got the nod to go and observe a session to see if it was for me. It was quite a sight. Quite a workout. So I asked permission to have a "trial" workout to see if I could stand it. I came down the next day and went through one. It WAS a great workout. So I joined the challenge. The studio is a small area with padded floor and lots of workout stuff in position for the day's workout. Every day they have multiple sessions of the same workout. The workout goes as follows: Warm-up, stretching, and then they show you the four stations you will move to and the two exercises you will do for five sets of 30 seconds or so, then you start. You start at one place and do 30 secs of exercise A, then they blow the whistle and you stop and switch to B for 30 sec. five times. Then you move to the second station and repeat. at some point in good weather they are going to send you on a run to the stop sign and back twice and come back and resume. Sometimes out of the blue they stop and have you do leg lifts or push-ups or something and resume. At the end of 45 minutes you are pretty well exercised. Then there is a couple minutes of stretching and cooling down and you get a fist-bump or a high five and you're done. During the workout there is the Leader who leads all the exercises and blows the whistle to keep moving about the studio. There is always another person and the leader walking through as you are exercising making sure you are doing it the right way so as not to injure yourself and to get the most out of the exercise. It's a great workout. It's a great program. Monday - Thursday they have morning sessions (7,8,9a) and afternoon (5, 6, 7p) The problem I had is the limited hours of the sessions on Friday (2 in early morning), Saturday (2 in early morning), and Sunday (CLOSED). I work in DTLA. Fridays and Sundays are out and Saturdays are hard because of my job as well. One week I couldn't make any because of my job and was told that I was out of luck and it could not be extended. for the 5-week challenge. They also have prepared meals available as another part of the overall package. But I have no interest in that. Overall, I think it is a really good place to go and am considering a longer membership. Melanie is the GEM that works the desk (Office Manager) that is always so happy and helpful. Hector is the Main Trainer and he is a great trainer and really watches the participants and the Leader (When he is not leading). I think he is mentoring a couple of guys. The price sounds high but if you break it down to weekly and then to PER SESSION, it's not unreasonable. Especially for the quality of workout received. read more

signed up for the challenge and paid for the membership. I honestly only went there twice because I went through a horrible personal situation. I was laid off my job, had a car accident the same week... lost my car. To top it off... I don't have any family here other than the east coast. Was living a dollar per day with only my last paycheck to last me until I found a job. Anyway.... my issue was that I was debited for the second month. (Yes! It was my fault I didn't cancel within the contract established deadline) BUT I did contact someone the same day I was charged to my account and tried to get a refund. The girl on the phone told me it was impossible. Which I totally get... she just doing her job. But she did mention I could try to at least get something back since I was going through a bad financial situation and I wasn't even going to be able to assist to the workouts.... got Eric's email who apparently is the CEO and my issue was that I never even got a response. Sent 3 emails and NOTHING. I honestly would've understood if they said no or if they could've at least gave me something back due my situation... but I never even got an email back saying NO REFUND... Ugh Other than that... I have it a two star just because they do work your butt out and that's pretty much what you pay for lol read more

FitcampLA has changed my life! They are the best trainers I've ever had. They encourage you and push you because they know how far you can go. I've been part of FitcampLA for a year and a half. Even when they are kicking your butt they always make you laugh. They are more than just trainers, they are family to us. We got my mom to start training here and in less than half a year she is off her diabetes and high blood pressure medication. She is much happier too and stronger! The camp Xcel has been one of the greatest investments I've entered to. I began my weight loss program 3 months ago at 187 lbs. So far, I've lost 22 pounds and counting! I have to thank Coach Hector because he's always pushing me. I hate him for it but I still thank him. Coach David for his constant abdomen workouts during warmups. And, lastly Coach Jess because she always makes us hold a squat for longer than necessary lol. ***UPDATE*** I've been on and off with the Camp Xcel and re-registering for it has been the best for me. I love love love this place. I started with the 2 week trial. Id be crazy not to sign up and join permanently. I love that camp xcel has early morning classes if you are a morning person, or night classes. So you can never miss a day there is always a time to get a session in. I felt comfortable the first day i started.. Theres no competition, everyone goes at their own pace. The first day i wenf there i had support from a few girls and i was the last one running and they stood behind to run with me. That made me feel really good The coaches are amazing as well. Entering my 2nd year at camp, reflecting as many of us do with the new year starting. Oh boy! so happy I made the decision to invest in my health. Prior to camp I was committed to indoor cycling 3-4 times a week. Cardio is great but camp takes you to the next level in building strength and so much more endurance. Camp is a friendly and fun environment, you get in there and you know your getting your workout in within that hour. Coach Jess makes it pleasant, as she walks around with her "beautiful smile" whether it's correcting our posture or pushing us to our full capacity / limits.. it's a good feeling walking out of camp and telling yourself that was a kickass workout!! Camp xcel is the best! Coach Hector, Eddie, and Melanie are very supportive. They guide and educate you on the proper form and on how to use the equipment. The workouts are also intense. You may feel intimidated at first, but just talk to the coaches about your concerns cause they're very friendly and they'll help calm your nerves. I love Camp Xcel!!! The workouts a perfectly timed, you go in you get an amazing workout and you are home all within an hour! I go to Santa Fe Springs and that location is on my way home from work so perfectly convenient! The creativity and thoughtfulness Coach Sergio puts into his workouts are amazing! He cares about everyone equally and tries to push you to be the best version of yourself! My arms hurt so much right but being soar is how I know it's all working and worth it! Great program amazing coaches! Coach Sergio! Coach Jess! Side note - I have seen people lose so much weight while being there, all while working out with me! They started at the same time I did! You will make great friends, I'm not over weight and go to be healthy and hopefully get stronger but I have friends who have lost over 40 pounds! The before and after on there website are all REAL! They help you with your form and the music is so hyped! The energy in the room is so positive and uplifting. ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! I am one of those people who always waited around for someone to workout with but I GOT TIRED OF BEING OVERWEIGHT. I joined CAMP XCEL not really knowing what I was getting myself into but let me tell you, its a decision I DO NOT REGRET! I was hooked in no time and more so after seeing results. I've been a member for a little over 3 months, LOST OVER 20 LBS and dropped inches like crazy! The workouts never get boring, the atmosphere is everything and I absolutely love the support (emails, meal plans, fb group pg, coaches and ppl I secretly admire #goals). The best part is all the energy I feel and the positive outlook I have now. I will definitely start off by saying thank you to the coaches for the motivation and help. After starting off with the 5-week challenge I realized it was only the beginning to a healthier me. Although I'm definitely the person who has her slip ups sometimes with food and drinks when going out, but thanks to the knowledge and discipline that's displayed by the staff it's become easier and less of a habit to fall into.
