I used to be nervous about weights, I had no idea how or when to use them. Vanessa helped me navigate how to lift weights. She was patient in her explenations. I went to the 5 am and 6 am classess and Vanessa did a very good job in motivating the class, she came in happy and full of energy. I signed up for the 8 week challenge, and along with the classes they help you stay consistent! I can feel confident around weights now! read more

his program has been a new start, new challenge and game changer. Every session feels personal -- like having a coach who actually sees you, and pushes you in the right way. Hands down one of the best boot camp gyms I've ever experienced. Every workout is well-planned, high-energy, and leaves you feeling stronger than when you walked in. Vanessa is an incredible coach who genuinely cares about proper form, real progress, and helping you reach your goals...and her music selection is always on point, which keeps every class fun and motivating. On top of that, the community she's built is supportive, welcoming, and uplifting, making it a place you actually look forward to coming back to. Best boot camp style workout around. My journey started December 2023 and it has been great so far. Each day focuses a different muscle group. The coaches a very knowledgeable and they motivate you to do your best every time you work out with them. Each person works out to their comfort level, you push yourself as much as you want. The equipment is on point and they have everything you need to get a full body workout. The prices are reasonable but the best option is the year cocommitment for $39/week. This challenges you to make yourself accountable and remind you that the best ininvestment you can make is in yourself. The best part is that if you want to take it to the next level, they offer a healthy meal plan service as well. As an added bonus, they host various social events at breweries and other locations and will be doing group hikes starting this weekend. read more

At first I was skeptical on joining because well to be honest I was embarrassed and thought people were going to laugh at me or I wasn't going to know what to do (one of the reasons i hate the gym). How things have changed I absolutely LOVE LOVE going to campxcel, they have absolutely changed my life. They made me feel so welcomed, they modified some exercises based on my injuries, they know me by name, they follow up when I don't show up, I mean I'm part of a family not just a gym/bootcamp. Speaking of family the owner of campxcel found out I had a loss in my family and arranged a fundraiser out of the kindness of her heart to help out my family. I am forever grateful. Joining was the best decision I have ever made. read more

Or they have a company they work with that meal preps food if you don't want to bother cooking. The trainers are all great, happy and excited to help you reach your goal. They do group workouts but go around helping you improve your form. They modify workouts if you aren't able to do them. Would recommend! read more

I stumbled on Camp Xcel back in October. I was wanting to try a camp style workout plan starting off with a challenge. I completed my challenge and decided to continue using them to help mold me into my fitness goals. Staff is excellent trainers are amazing down to earth very welcoming easy to talk to if you have certain goals they can help create specific workouts to target any body part or area. Coach Danny has giving me so much insight and information. Many gyms claim to have a family vibe but it's definitely the standard here. Friendly people, overall good vibe. I don't know how many times I've had personal conversations with the trainers Ms. Vanesa E, coach Maria this morning. I came in at a basic level and have stayed consistent and can keep up all the way through the program. So don't worry about your level of fitness you work out at. Work at your own pace but they definitely push and motivate you. So if you need a place to destress physically mentally and emotionally get a week trial maybe it can be your happy place like it is mine . read more

My fitness journey started in may of 2022, after signing up for a local gym, I noticed I would only stay at the treadmill or elliptical machine, intimidated by the other machines I was not familiar with, that's when my coworker recommended I go to campxcel, she saw I was a bit hesitant, but she told me to try and risk free for three days, after the first day-leg day- I thought I was not going to go back. I can tell you that i'm glad I did go back, i kept consistent, I have proven to myself the sky is the limit, I have seen my own growth,I have come such a long way, and I am so proud of everything I have accomplished. I can confidently say, the campxcel proved me wrong, and has helped me and my fitness journey and I don't see myself going back to a regular gym, I hope everyone can have the same experience that I have had so far. read more

I've meant to write this review a week ago after the Five Week Challenge ended. I didn't loose any weight during this challenge but it wasn't because of the gym. What I gained was strength in my body, better form, confidence in my self and that's thanks to the coaches (Coach Héctor and Coach Jess) as well as Denise at the front desk. I've never felt more confident in a group setting , the coaches guide you and push you out of your comfort zone and you have fun while doing it. Coaches and the exercises push you beyond what you THINK you can do but are also mindful to modify any exercise to fit your ability. I ended up signing up as a member because I see changes in my body and spirit thanks to the coaches. The price is worth it, feels like a mini personal training session. read more

Five-star gym! I joined this gym on Oct 15th 2019 to partake in their 5-week challenge. Exceeding my expectations, that 5-week challenge pushed me to my peak physical level. I really appreciate Hector, Eddie, and Maria as my trainers and them providing creative fun workouts with hilarious personality. Special thanks to the front desk staff for kind welcoming personalities and tracking my diet plan and weight weekly. After sticking with their recommendations and their continual motivation, I placed 2nd place in the 2020 Los Angeles FitExpo abs competition three months later. I attribute my fitness success mostly to Camp Xcel's commitment to providing excellent workout experience. Thanks again! read more

I started at this gym @ the Long Beach location with coach Eddie! I was in awe with his style of coaching and accountability! After a year, the gym closed down, and I began attending the Southgate location! Now I am being coached by both Eddie and coach Hector! Coach Hector is an amazing coach as well! These two vibe together so well! I love how he is quick to check on posture and makes sure that everyone is doing the exercise correctly! Other "camps" or trainers will explain the exercise to you, but not pay attention if whether or not you are doing them correctly! That's not the case here! I'm glad that I have yet another helpful coach (Hector) to rely on! On top of that he is also personable and willing to go the extra mile for his class! I love when both coaches teach a class! Coming from someone that has an injury and is usually traveling due to work or leisure, both coach Eddie and Hector have always welcomed me with open arms and have been willing to work around, both my injury and schedule! Can't wait to see what this new year brings us! read more

My Friend talked wonders about her happy place "Camp" and encouraged me to try 10 day trial. I decided to join in late June 2016. I've lost +25 lbs and have been able to maintain my weight steady during my pregnancy. Coaches here are AMAZING!!! Not only do they push your limits the make sure you are in correct form to avoid injuries. Jess, Hector and Eric are the BEST!! I have been a member of camp for the past two years; it has been one of the best personal investments I have ever made. When I first moved to Pasadena over a year ago, I thought that I would no longer be able to attend because of the distance. Both Eric and Hector worked with me and assured me that I would always have a place at camp. Moreso, the coaches continue to challenge me everytime I walk through those doors and support my fitness goals. I have not only lost 25 pounds but I've gained muscle and endurance that I never thought I could achieve. I never thought that I could lift weights or even do a deadlift correctly. Thank you so much for your guidance, support, and the great friendships. Ana read more

Update: My BMI is down 8% and about 4 pant sizes since I joined in mid 2017. I got my brother, sister in law, friends and wife to join. A few friends who have tried it out have tried to leave but they have ended up coming right back. Camp Excel is a lifestyle and I'm glad I got over my fear and joined... everyone there is great and I have noticed that many ppl who have joined end up treating the coaches like family. The work outs are challenging every day and it is always something I look forward to... kinda sadistic but I feel accomplished after every workout. I joined cuz of my physical health. I got better and getting healthier everyday. But more importantly I stayed because ppl like Coach Hector, Jess and Eddie are the culprits of the desire they have instilled to make the lifestyle change. Thank you guys! You guys are awesome and you have changed my life... making my wife and I healthier has had an beneficial impact on our kids. read more

Coach Eric Escobar harassed and insults you and threatens to send you emails everyday after you ask nicely to be removed from the email list. He is very unprofessional and attacks complete strangers. I want to start by saying when I found this place I was at the beginning of my fitness journey! The people there are so friendly and this is coming from someone who is very anxious about trying out new gyms/ fitness centers. I had tried a couple other places and didn't feel comfortable. This is my experience with this facility and it's staff: When I first walked in I was immediately greeted by Coach Maria, who helped explain the process and what it consisted of. I got there right before the next session so before committing to anything she asked if I wanted to join the session to get a glimpse of what the sessions would consist of. Side note these are group sessions and throughout my time there I never encountered anyone who was mean or aggressive. After the session she sat down with me and just tried to get to know me a bit more. Throughout my time there people were super friendly, the coaches were super informative, they sat down with you to help you with any questions you had. Oh and the workouts.... They kicked your butt but in such a good way! I never left feeling like I shouldn't have went. The thing I really liked was even though these were group sessions, the coaches running them would still give individual attention and helped correct my forms or teach me how to do exercises. The coaches always pushed you to put in your 100% and that was personalized on you, depending on where you were at in your journey. I did like the push from the coaches because that helped me realize I can do more than I was allowing myself to do. You feel welcomed from the moment you step through the door until you leave! It always thought of it like going to visit a friend! All that to say 10/10 I'd recommend to a friend. read more
