I've meant to write this review a week ago after the Five Week Challenge ended. I didn't loose any weight during this challenge but it wasn't because of the gym. What I gained was strength in my body, better form, confidence in my self and that's thanks to the coaches (Coach Héctor and Coach Jess) as well as Denise at the front desk. I've never felt more confident in a group setting , the coaches guide you and push you out of your comfort zone and you have fun while doing it. I started at this gym @ the Long Beach location with coach Eddie! I was in awe with his style of coaching and accountability! After a year, the gym closed down, and I began attending the Southgate location! Now I am being coached by both Eddie and coach Hector! Coach Hector is an amazing coach as well! These two vibe together so well! I love how he is quick to check on posture and makes sure that everyone is doing the exercise correctly! Other "camps" or trainers will explain the exercise to you, but not pay attention if whether or not you are doing them correctly! That's not the case here! I'm glad that I have yet another helpful coach (Hector) to rely on! On top of that he is also personable and willing to go the extra mile for his class! I love when both coaches teach a class! Update: My BMI is down 8% and about 4 pant sizes since I joined in mid 2017. I got my brother, sister in law, friends and wife to join. A few friends who have tried it out have tried to leave but they have ended up coming right back. I want to start by saying when I found this place I was at the beginning of my fitness journey! The people there are so friendly and this is coming from someone who is very anxious about trying out new gyms/ fitness centers. I had tried a couple other places and didn't feel comfortable. This is my experience with this facility and it's staff: When I first walked in I was immediately greeted by Coach Maria, who helped explain the process and what it consisted of. I got there right before the next session so before committing to anything she asked if I wanted to join the session to get a glimpse of what the sessions would consist of. Side note these are group sessions and throughout my time there I never encountered anyone who was mean or aggressive. After the session she sat down with me and just tried to get to know me a bit more. Throughout my time there people were super friendly, the coaches were super informative, they sat down with you to help you with any questions you had. Oh and the workouts.... They kicked your butt but in such a good way! I never left feeling like I shouldn't have went. The thing I really liked was even though these were group sessions, the coaches running them would still give individual attention and helped correct my forms or teach me how to do exercises. The coaches always pushed you to put in your 100% and that was personalized on you, depending on where you were at in your journey. I did like the push from the coaches because that helped me realize I can do more than I was allowing myself to do. You feel welcomed from the moment you step through the door until you leave! I joined Camp Xcel 5 weeks ago with my boyfriend and sister as moral support. I never knew how much I would end up loving camp. After every session I felt so accomplished. My energy levels increased week after week. The coaches there are amazing. Coach Jess and Coach Hector always push you to your limit.
