They learned to sew, make stop animation lego movies, voice recording. They learned how to bake bread, try new international flavors of food and be their own scheduler. They loved the warm, funny, kind staff. It felt like a summer home. The flexibility for us was fantastic! Day to day camp, not week to week. Flex schedule during the day, any time drop-off, any time pick-up. Lunch included! That was a big bonus for those of us who detest making packed lunches every day! They already can't wait for next year!

Needless to say, we weren't sure if he was going to be able to handle camp, let alone Steve & Kate's. Turns out he had a fantastic summer. It's easy to pinpoint the reason too: Janelle, the camp director, and her incredible staff. We really weren't expecting any accommodations, but/and Jenelle and all the counselors quickly realized what my son needed, put some changes in place for him, and connected with him in an amazing way. My son was so happy and he learned that he can fun with less structure, be safe with new people, and make new friends. I'm gushing, I know, but this summer was super-special and I couldn't let it go unnoted.

All my questions and concerns have been addressed almost immediately, via email or phone call. My youngest has several food allergies, severe (anaphylaxis) the staff is fully trained, they are an inclusive camp, meaning she can eat and participate in EVERY activity. This is extremely important for any kid of any age, to feel included and part of everything and something. I highly highly recommend this. Thank you to Camp Wekeela for making this a truly memorable summer for my girls. They will be back next year!

Last…read moresummer was my second summer; and I don't understand how people think that new people are treated like outcasts because I was new and I made about 3 friends the first day! Wekeela also is great because you can extend your time there easily, and if you hate it (which I really doubt you will) you will probably be allowed to un-extend. Last summer I went to camp for four weeks, and even in my second year I was still making friends and looking forward to meeting new people! I can't say enough good things about Wekeela. On the last day I was crying my eyes out from dinner to the end of campfire and after camp ended every night I facetimed my friends and became extremely camp sick. I love camp so much that I am going for seven weeks next summer; and considering my past experiences with camps, that's a big deal. If you want a carefree, fun, socialized summer, come to camp Wekeela. Trust me.

I will never, ever recommend this place. We sent our twins here seven-eight years ago and our…read moredaughter (who was then 12) for Summer Camp. They not only fed one of our sons (who has many anaphylactic allergies ), one of his main listed anaphylactic allergens which resulted in us having to medicate him for an anaphylactic reaction, they also kept one of his home-packed lunches over a weekend and then FED him the OLD leftover moldy lunch on the following Monday instead of the new lunch we sent in, despite him complaining to one of the staff in the cafeteria that it didn't taste right, and with our other twin? One of the teenage camp counselors was tired of him taking so long to catch up with the rest of the group (he was lagging behind due to chronic congenital knee problems- he's had seven total knee surgeries as of now at age 14, then was 7 and had already had two knee surgeries), so the camp staff pushed him down a wet slope to hurry him along, causing him to fall on his arm, which caused a buckle fracture= BREAKING HIS ARM. Our son told us a few years later that the counselor kid was frustrated with him and pushed him down the slope and that was why he fell (the camp told us he was "running, racing with the camp staff" ). If we had known at the time, we would've sued (and we've never sued anyone). DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE!!! I will never, ever recommend this camp to anyone. I normally do not post poor reviews, however this camp scarred us. We've never sent our kids to any other camps after our experience here due to the threats they posed to our kids' safety and health. Our kids have pled with us over the years to go to camps and the same old phrase pops up: "No guys, remember Gate Hill?" Followed by: "Oh Yeah." They ruined summer camps for us as a family. Please look elsewhere. No matter how fun or friendly a place is, it's not worth jeopardizing your children's well being, safety or lives. Pictures included to legitimize review. Blurred faces for privacy. You can see Gatehill's digital album at the top of the screen.

He has been enjoying summers at Gate Hill day camp for three years in a row. Where do I start? The facilities are neat and modern. The staff is very personable, enthusiastic and cheerful and overall the Camp is run very smoothly and professionally. On a day to day basis the Camp runs like a well oiled machine providing the children with a wide variety of activities and different themes for each day. They add some nice personal touches by providing daily summaries of what the kids did each day and text message updates to let you know if the buses are running behind due to traffic. As parents, we couldn't be happier that our son is growing as a person, learning different sports and games and making great friends in a safe and beautiful environment .

Lots of them are there only for a paycheck and are just waiting for the day to end, not caring what happens during it and being disengaged from the campers. This has resulted in many campers being completely out of control. Settoga's priority is putting on a show for parents and seeming competent when dealing with them, but everything the parents don't see is a complete mess. There is terrible communication between employees and many of the counselors prioritize their interpersonal drama with one another over doing their job well.

They learned about grooming, feeding, instruction on riding, and even happily mucked the stalls. Our kids are 5 & 6 but some kids were up to age 10-11 maybe. Total there were about 12 kids in the camp. Lots of walking involved as the bathrooms are a few minutes away (they are escorted there twice daily). The instructors were good with both the kids and the ponies. Not sure how repetitive it would get if you booked consecutive weeks as ours just went 1 week. The cost for one week, with the Bergen county discount, was about $337 per child.
