Cost this year was $300/week per parent/sponsor! Unfortunately it is unclear as to where all that $$ goes as campers are also $300/student/week. I will say the money is not going on the food.. But the most mind blowing part was that upon arrival- employees would enter the cafeteria with a to-go container. Often going around all of the students and camp sponsors, even taking the last of what's left on the salad bar! I'm sorry but you just came to work likely from your home- and the students/sponsors have been hiking/sweating all day! Just seems distasteful to especially forgo the line and load yourself up. All around it is baffling as to why the grounds are not being kept up and all this money is being collected.

Parking was a little different since we parked across the street, but it was free, which was a nice surprise. The restrooms were clean, there were snacks and drinks available, and since we weren't sure what to expect, we ate beforehand. The real magic was watching all four of my kids, ages 4 to 12, find something they genuinely loved. That doesn't happen everywhere! From arts and crafts to climbing, sliding, exploring, and creating, there was something for every personality and energy level. No one was bored. Not even for a minute. As a mom, I appreciated the clean environment, family friendly atmosphere, and free Wi-Fi. As a M.O.M.=maker of memories maker, I loved seeing my kids laugh, play, and discover new things together. Very easy to find (off the highway) but passing a cemetery on the way on Halloween weekend was a little funny/creepy. A Family friendly atmosphere~ Very reasonable prices. Kids go for free and once you pay for your course, oh and you can go again to the same level for free! Who does that? this speaks volumes of the instructors. They genuinely want you to learn and practice your survival skills. Oh I can't give enough positive reviews about the Instructors.... all three (Ray, Chris & Eric) followed the "I do, We do, You do" training keys.... each are aware of the participants purpose/ goal of each activity....demonstration of the skill and then complete a guided practice of the skill. We practiced building a fire, building a shelter, tying knots, using a compass to navigate, and critical first aid... Instructors interacted with each participant, giving immediate feedback and additional help when needed. However pacing of the activities was appropriate. It is a lot to take in. Yes I know camping but being able to advance my skills in a basic class was amazing and can't wait to use my skills on my own. Each Instructors is extremely knowledgeable, down-to-earth, patient, and funny! They are passionate about what they are doing & want you to ask questions You can easily recognize the effective teaching strategies that were implemented so naturally to these instructors. Overall, excellent experience. Can't wait to do this again.

He is accepted for who he is at Charis Hills, quirks and all. While Charis hills does not have a lot of water sport activities. It's not an overstimulating, fast paced environment. It is a very small, intimate, faith based camp. It is geared toward a spectrum of capabilities and socio-emotional strengths. The camp staff meets your camper at his level. The camp offers opportunities for growth. It's a good old fashioned camp, a throwback to my youth with activities such as canoeing, fishing, rifelry, skeet, swimming in a pond, games, skits and of course Bible study. This is a faith based Christian camp. The end of camp celebration is not slick like certain large camps trying to solicit donations from parents. It actually celebrates each campers achievements.

The horses are skin and bones, shouldn't be ridden. The 'rescue' hes had for 5 years has awful feet…read moreand bloody infected ears. Every horse was either skin and bones, lame, or both. The tack didnt fit at all. The tree was sitting directly on my horses withers. I saw saddle sore marks and girth galls on most of the horses. They were all tied up and had no water or hay. Andy was drunk and rude, and the trail was not good. There's construction going on next to the fence. He needs to turn them horses over to someone who knows what they are doing. Negative 100 stars.
