I was absolutely blown away with this magnificent experience! We hiked about a mile up to the cavern entrance. It was a steady incline and almost all in the sun, so come prepared for that. Sunscreen and a water bottle would be wise. By the time you get to the top, you're pretty toasty warm-and then you can cool off in the cold, dark cave. The cave/cavern (what's the difference?) is truly remarkable. Nature can be awe inspiring and what you see inside this mountain is a perfect example of nature's masterpiece. Be respectful and don't touch anything you're not supposed to touch. This isn't a horribly physical excursion, although there's a good amount of stairs, narrow spaces and even one area where you slide down on your bum. People who have any mobility limitations might struggle with this one-although I did overhear that there's an alternate tour for folks who might need accommodations, so ask about that. This was likely my favorite part of the road trip-even more memorable than Yellowstone! (Sssshhhh, don't get me in trouble for saying that.)

Yes it is close to the highway and a train, but it really wasn't bothersome. The train comes maybe once a day and not too early. Will stay here every time we are in Bozeman. Also try the Rocking R for football and Wednesday night "bingo" with drink specials. Super fun!! Copper was delicious for dinner and great ambiance.

The campground was very clean and well maintained. The garbages were emptied constantly and the showers were wonderful! It was quiet and exactly what I needed for the 5 nights we were there. There is highway noise and trains but I found that I got used to it after the first night and didn't even notice it after that. The couple that run the campground are very friendly and you can tell that they love it! They put such love into the site from watering the flowers to grooming the sites. The only thing that I would have improved on would have been the wifi. It was spotty at best and mostly non-existent. Overall I would love to stay here again and if I ever find myself in Bozeman again I will be staying here!

Aside from the historical aspect of this site in the Lewis and Clark expedition, there are other reasons to stop and visit: campsites, foot-trails, and rafting, and picnicking. Plus, during the summer there are speakers available from the park service and the nearby University of Montana. Headwaters is a busy park, there's always something going on, but if you have the time, it's a beautiful park to explore, see wildlife, birdwatch, hike and maybe even kayak or raft down the rivers.

The hot springs were super hot and the water they spray in one section of the pool allows you an opportunity to cool off. They also had umbrellas set up around the perimeter to block the sun. I'm glad it was slightly cooler today from a rain storm as it ended up being the perfect day! We also ordered some food while we were here. I got the smoked trout which came with a delicious salad, all made fresh from their onsite garden. My kids got the pickle pizza, which they let me try and that was devoured! Demi took excellent care of us! I'd definitely come back here! They also offer live music in the evenings. There was music playing while we were here and it was a nice addition. We used to absolutely love Norris Hot Springs. We've been coming here for years and it was always…read moreour go-to hot spring when we lived in Bozeman and West Yellowstone. We've made many day trips and stayed multiple times in the campground with our RV. After moving away for a few years, we recently returned to Bozeman and have visited Norris several times. We were excited to bring our new NoBo 18.0 camper for its maiden voyage. Unfortunately, this stay was nothing like the Norris Hot Springs we remembered. The community bathrooms were shockingly dirty and unsanitary. The showers looked and smelled as though they hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in a very long time. Both toilets had dark rings in the bowls, and the entire bathroom area had an overwhelming mold and mildew smell. The showers also had a buildup of something slimy. I understand that older facilities have limitations, but basic cleanliness should not be one of them. The WiFi also wasn't working at our campsite. We notified staff and asked if the router could be reset, but it never worked during our stay. We eventually found WiFi by sitting outside near the community bathroom, which unfortunately was not a pleasant place to spend time. The biggest disappointment came Monday morning. For all the years we've camped at Norris, use of the hot springs had been included with our campsite. We headed over for a quick 10-15 minute soak before I had to leave for work and were told by Noah that campers must now pay an additional $3 per person, per day to use the pool. The $3 fee itself was not the issue. The issue was the lack of communication. Our reservation confirmation clearly stated: "CAMPERS HAVE ACCESS TO THE POOL & CAFE DURING PUBLIC HOURS THURSDAY-MONDAY 10AM-10PM." There was no mention in our confirmation that campers would now be charged an additional daily, per-person pool fee. Attached is a copy of the confirmation email I received. We were told the new policy was on the website. After looking, I could not find it on the Home, Soak, or Reservations pages. I eventually found the information buried at the bottom of the campground page. For returning guests who have always understood pool access to be included with camping, it would be very easy to make a reservation without realizing this had changed. We even offered to pay the $6 immediately after our quick soak, since my husband was staying behind to pack up the camper, but were told there were "no exceptions" and payment had to be made before entering the pool. With the time crunch and the overall unfriendly experience, we decided to leave. I also mentioned the condition of the bathrooms to Noah and expressed that they needed a serious deep cleaning. Unfortunately, I felt the concern was dismissed rather than acknowledged. Businesses can certainly change policies, but significant changes like this should be clearly communicated during the reservation process and, ideally, included in the confirmation email--especially for longtime returning guests. We left without our morning soak and, more importantly, with a very different impression of a place we have enjoyed for many years. Between the dirty bathrooms, unavailable campsite WiFi, and poorly communicated change to pool access, this was a very disappointing stay. Sadly, after years of Norris Hot Springs being one of our favorite places, it will likely be quite a while before we return.

Great Alternative to the State Park…read more This is a small, well-kept campground just off the highway, about 15 minutes from Lewis & Clark Caverns. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was peaceful. We had a tent site in the back, and all sites are conveniently close to the bathrooms, which were extremely clean and recently updated. A nice bonus--there's free use of a washer and dryer, plus stream access. The highway is nearby, so there is some road noise, but it didn't bother us. We were initially disappointed that we couldn't get into the state park, but this ended up being an even better option. On-site, there's a food truck serving amazing BBQ, live music, a small bar, a general store, and even a gas station. Everything you need is right there. Would definitely stay here again!

There are several indoor pools and several outdoor pools. There's also a stage area outside that wasn't in use when we visited. There's lots of tables and seating outdoors, though everyone was in the pools, and not sitting at the tables. It was pretty busy when we visited, but the pools are so big, there was plenty of room for everyone. After our lovely soak, we made use of the locker rooms to change, and the handy dandy swimsuit dryers. And as we left, we enjoyed a beautiful sunset on our way out. Bozeman Hot Springs is a wonderful combination of nature, therapeutic hot springs with a modern touch.

We were trying out our new trailer, and we ended up in the best spot too! The store has most everything you need, and we visited it at least 10 times on the full day we were there. We played ax throwing, gigantic connect 4, and corn hole, but there was a lot more like lawn darts and other stuff. The blonde lady that I didn't get her name, was so nice! And my friend Sue, from the Mint, she works there too, and it was wonderful! They even lent us a bbq so we could make dinner! And they drove it to our site! Really, it's hard to imagine them being any more accommodating to our family! Good job KOA! We will be back!

While checking in to the Rambling Moose RV Park, I could immediately tell that this was a very nice RV park... As a matter of fact, it was a nicest park I stayed in between Oregon and Virginia city! Everything appeared brand new and Kim, the owner, pointed out all of the many amenities that they offered.... including her quilted art artwork! Beautiful! I must've looked pretty sick because Kim, out of the kindness of her soul, refused to allow me to sleep on the ground in the cold that evening. She gave me a camping cabin at no additional cost! Next the next morning, I still felt very ill and was unable to ride my bike. I asked her if she could help me find someone who could take me and my gear from Virginia City to West Yellowstone, which was my destination for that day. Kim, and her husband Greg, without blinking an eye, offered to help me! Kim drove me the 85 miles from Virginia City to West Yellowstone so I could get a hotel room while I recovered from this debilitating stomach issue, People like Kim and Greg of the Rambling Moose RV park are the kind of people that care about their guests and make sure that their guests are comfortable and happy with their experience. Since it is just 2 of us, we thought it best to leave 2 beds available for a family that might need it. We emailed them to switch us to the single queen bed. They were very quick in their response. No issues or problems, we were switched. As we pulled in, my first impression was how immaculate and pristine the property looked. The lines between the gravel and grass were clean and straight. The grass was well manicured and green. The gravel was thick and pretty. There was nothing but beauty to see. These people care about their property. There are shaded tent-spots steps away from a covered picnic table and a real bathroom (a bathroom with lights, soap, hot water, a flushing toilet and an outlet to charge your phone). Next to the office are free hot showers, real bathrooms, coin-laundry facilities and a sink to wash dishes. Everything was spotless during our 48 hour stay. We stayed in a cabin. There was a small covered porch with 2 plastic resin chairs and a small plastic resin side-table. Next to the cabin is a picnic table and a grill for briquettes when there is no fire ban. Inside, there is a very comfortable, memory foam queen bed that is wrapped in a protective cover. The bed frame is made of logs and is beautiful. Bring your own linens and pillows. We travel with sleeping bags and pillows.There was a lamp, heater, fan, 2 screened windows, a side table, a small square dining table and 2 chairs. The floor is a washable surface (vinyl fake wood?). Because every surface was washable, it was very clean upon our arrival. All cabins have electricity. Check-in was a breeze. The owner was a delight. We talked for several minutes. My most important message to convey to anyone deciding to stay here is this: Safety, trust and piece of mind. They have a strict rule regarding dogs off leash. During our 48 hour stay, we witnessed one dog off leash for a minute. This was quickly addressed and not seen again. I appreciated this very, very much. When you enter the campground, it is clearly posted that only registered guests can continue or you must check-in the office. As we arrived, the owner immediately stepped outside and was greeting us. To me, this means they are very aware of who is in camp. Half the time, we did not lock our cabin. Additionally, they have ice for sale for $2.75. They could gouge the consumer and charge much more. Instead, I feel, they are decent people. Thank you for a wonderful 2 days at your property.
