Home sweet home for a few days

I'll start by saying that this campground is noisy. It is sandwiched between a highway and train tracks. However, we were informed of this before paying for a site so we knew what we were getting into. We tent camped and the site was well shaded and had a picnic table. They also provided a place for us to tie up our pup so he could roam a bit. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and they provide free internet. They also have an extensive movie collection in case you have a device to watch them on. The service couldn't have been better! The hosts were friendly and hospitable. They provided maps and information on the surrounding area. We were fortunate enough to camp here on the 4th of July and the campground hosted an ice cream party. It was truly incredible! They had every topping imaginable complete with homemade sauces (chocolate, caramel, & peanut butter) and homemade cookies. Do yourself a favor and camp here if you're passing through!

He had an amazing knowledge of the caves and their history. We also enjoyed the gift shop and the restaurant after. We were starving from our cave exploration so the Bison burger hit just right!! Yum! We both expressed that we think our kids would also love the caves!! This is a gorgeous hour drive from Bozeman that I also thoroughly enjoyed.

You must reserve the cave tours online before going. I had problems booking the tour, because my…read moreprimary browser would not display the CAPTCHA (are you a robot) link. They do not sell tickets at the site, and most tours are sold out by the date of the tours. There are two tours, both requiring a mile of walking round-trip to the cave entrance and back. The gravel road is wide and flat, and I do not understand why they don't have a shuttle, since the groups are fairly small. Also, we arrived early, but they refused to let us go on an earlier tour, even though there were several no-shows. So, we had to sit around for an extra hour, for no reason. They have a nice little visitor center with a good video, which our guide basically repeated on the tour. There is also a cafe and ample parking. We took the easier Paradise tour. From the cave entrance, we walked an additional 300 yards round-trip to the first of the two rooms on the tour. They say the other tour has a few additional, small rooms, and requires climbing up and down hundreds of steps, and squeezing through tight, slippery pathways. On our tour, the first room was small, but nice. The second room is the largest on either tour, and was quite beautiful. Even so, it was a lot of driving and walking for a couple of rooms. I've been to several, much more extensive caverns. I wouldn't put this at the top of my to do list in Montana, but the main cavern room is beautiful and the park is very scenic.

While checking in to the Rambling Moose RV Park, I could immediately tell that this was a very nice RV park... As a matter of fact, it was a nicest park I stayed in between Oregon and Virginia city! Everything appeared brand new and Kim, the owner, pointed out all of the many amenities that they offered.... including her quilted art artwork! Beautiful! I must've looked pretty sick because Kim, out of the kindness of her soul, refused to allow me to sleep on the ground in the cold that evening. She gave me a camping cabin at no additional cost! Next the next morning, I still felt very ill and was unable to ride my bike. I asked her if she could help me find someone who could take me and my gear from Virginia City to West Yellowstone, which was my destination for that day. Kim, and her husband Greg, without blinking an eye, offered to help me! Kim drove me the 85 miles from Virginia City to West Yellowstone so I could get a hotel room while I recovered from this debilitating stomach issue, People like Kim and Greg of the Rambling Moose RV park are the kind of people that care about their guests and make sure that their guests are comfortable and happy with their experience. Wonderful Folks!!!!!!!

This property is located 1/2 mile from "the center" of Virginia City…read more We accidentally booked the cabin with 2 beds. Since it is just 2 of us, we thought it best to leave 2 beds available for a family that might need it. We emailed them to switch us to the single queen bed. They were very quick in their response. No issues or problems, we were switched. As we pulled in, my first impression was how immaculate and pristine the property looked. The lines between the gravel and grass were clean and straight. The grass was well manicured and green. The gravel was thick and pretty. There was nothing but beauty to see. These people care about their property. There are shaded tent-spots steps away from a covered picnic table and a real bathroom (a bathroom with lights, soap, hot water, a flushing toilet and an outlet to charge your phone). Next to the office are free hot showers, real bathrooms, coin-laundry facilities and a sink to wash dishes. Everything was spotless during our 48 hour stay. We stayed in a cabin. There was a small covered porch with 2 plastic resin chairs and a small plastic resin side-table. Next to the cabin is a picnic table and a grill for briquettes when there is no fire ban. Inside, there is a very comfortable, memory foam queen bed that is wrapped in a protective cover. The bed frame is made of logs and is beautiful. Bring your own linens and pillows. We travel with sleeping bags and pillows. There was a lamp, heater, fan, 2 screened windows, a side table, a small square dining table and 2 chairs. The floor is a washable surface (vinyl fake wood?). Because every surface was washable, it was very clean upon our arrival. All cabins have electricity. Check-in was a breeze. The owner was a delight. We talked for several minutes. My most important message to convey to anyone deciding to stay here is this: Safety, trust and piece of mind. They have a strict rule regarding dogs off leash. During our 48 hour stay, we witnessed one dog off leash for a minute. This was quickly addressed and not seen again. I appreciated this very, very much. When you enter the campground, it is clearly posted that only registered guests can continue or you must check-in the office. As we arrived, the owner immediately stepped outside and was greeting us. To me, this means they are very aware of who is in camp. Half the time, we did not lock our cabin. Additionally, they have ice for sale for $2.75. They could gouge the consumer and charge much more. Instead, I feel, they are decent people. Thank you for a wonderful 2 days at your property.
