We live in NYC and it's so wonderful to get them out of the city into fresh mountain air - the facilities are impressive and well-kept, they offer every activity and sport that you can imagine. I appreciate that they have very knowledgeable instructors and my kids were introduced to new activities that they aren't normally exposed to through school or extra-curricular activities. They get to swim twice a day (they got over their fear of water which was a huge achievement!) My older one likes art and he loved how he got to choose to do art for extra periods. Similarly, my other son prefers sports and he got to focus on his sport of choice. They've been around for 60 years and I love the family-owned spirit of the camp. I've heard from other parents that they feel their kids at other camps "get lost" and are just a number. I have to say that is the opposite at Deer Mountain - they build a community of campers where the staff and leadership genuinely KNOW the kids, which in turn help my boys feel safe and comfortable in their own skin. After seven years, my daughter is in her very last year and all I can say is that she is already sad about it. She only wished it was an overnight camp because she never wanted to leave. There arent words that can truly express how I feel about this place. The facilities are beautiful and the staff treat you like extended family. More importantly are the cherished memories and the happiness that it has brought to our child over the years....truly priceless.

Deerkill is by far the best day camp in the Rockland County area. My kids both learned to swim…read morethere at a very early age and I now have the confidence when we are at the beach or a pool to let them enjoy the water without fear. The staff (from counselors to instructors) is also fantastic and a group of very experienced professionals. The directors are always developing new programs and bringing in the latest activities for campers of all ages. One of the newest additions to the camp is the climbing wall and zip line. My kids could not get enough of them. My kids are also huge fans of animals and the fact that Deerkill has a pony, and a couple of friendly alpacas is a great plus. Overall, I would recommend Deerkill to anyone that would like to provide their kids with the opportunity to have summers they will never forget making life long friends along the way. He has been enjoying summers at Gate Hill day camp for three years in a row. Where do I start? The facilities are neat and modern. The staff is very personable, enthusiastic and cheerful and overall the Camp is run very smoothly and professionally. On a day to day basis the Camp runs like a well oiled machine providing the children with a wide variety of activities and different themes for each day. They add some nice personal touches by providing daily summaries of what the kids did each day and text message updates to let you know if the buses are running behind due to traffic. As parents, we couldn't be happier that our son is growing as a person, learning different sports and games and making great friends in a safe and beautiful environment .

Our children leave Little Pals with a solid academic foundation: recognizing and writing letters and numbers, early sight words, counting to 100, and reading beginner books with confidence. Their handwriting improved tremendously; they developed strong problem solving skills and a genuine love of learning. They still talk about songs, lessons, and moments from class. It's incredible to see how far ahead they've been - both academically and socially - compared to where I remember being at that age. Communication is excellent. In addition to parent/teacher conferences and detailed reports, the teachers were always available to chat. I never felt rushed, and I can be quite talkative! There are field trips, an open house, Christmas concerts, and family night, all of which made us feel connected to the school and involved in our children's early education. There are always activities and plenty of pictures. Our kids made friends - and we made friends too!
