Great time spent with my son at this camp. A great place to hike and explore. Nice being "unplugged" for the weekend.

Cazadero Performing Arts Camp (also known as Caz) is a performing arts camp located in the Sonoma…read moreredwoods Established in 1955 by then Berkeley High School band director Bob Lutt (who eventually was made executive director of the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra), the first campers were a mixture of Berkeley High teens and members of the San Francisco Symphony. Since 1955, the camp has become a significant influence in many facets of San Francisco Bay Area music, including the San Francisco Symphony, the orchestras for the San Francisco Opera and the San Francisco Ballet, and Tower of Power, an Oakland, California 10-member horn-based soul band formed in 1968. Caz faculty were the first to conceive of a professional baroque chamber orchestra composed entirely of period instruments, resulting in the 1981 creation of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra by harpsichordist Laurette Goldberg. The camp, which sits atop the late 19th century location of the then-infamous Bohemian Grove, maintains a signature suspension bridge over which more than 100,000 young musicians have crossed. Campers also enjoy 'downtime activities' like swimming, ping pong, basketball, guided hikes and more. I came here once as the non-musician spouse during a family camping week. If you play, this place is for you. There's an incredible amount of creative energy that flows and when I was there even the head cook performed. The accommodations are rustic and the food was very good. My problem was that that when you're here as part of the "untalented" there's not much for you to do other than babysit a bunch of kids while the parents are off practicing and performing. And don't expect them to keep any sort of a schedule while they're out in the wood being creative. Plus some of the more "talented" parents really have an attitude towards folks like us. I won't be back, except to pick someone up who has had a great time.

All of the staff there is amazing,5 stars to everyone! Our naturalist (Witakay, not sure on the spelling) is an amazing human being and he is my sons top favorite person now,he tells me everyday how much he liked him and misses him. I love seeing how inclusive and engaging this place was,it kept my son (and every other kid there) on top of the world and having the much needed structure they all need. My son was TERRIFIED of heights and trying new things but his naturalist made him feel so comfortable and safe that he tried and excelled at everything he ended up doing. The cabins were perfect and the area was gorgeous! Thank you SO much to everyone involved,we are already talking about possible summer camp coming up. Thank you just doesnt cut it,but i cant stop saying it! :)

We've been at their ranch since September 2024, and every single staff member we've encountered (including office, groundskeeping, and instructional staff) has presented themselves with the utmost professionalism, kindness, and enthusiasm. They've taught our boys how to ride and care for horses in a safe and skilled manner, all while exhibiting patience, dignity, and grace. They are friendly and welcoming at all times, and I feel no hesitation to trust our instructors with the safety of my children. The safety of their students and horses are of primary concern here--as it should be. I must offer an extra special thank you to Mia and Izzy, who have always made it their goal to teach my kids everything they possibly can about riding and equestrian care. It has been a blessing and a joy to work with them, and we love them both dearly! Thank you, ladies, for your dedicated work, and for always bringing upbeat smiles, wisdom, and positive attitudes to your students. I'd be remiss if I didn't also give honorable mention to Carley, who is not our instructor, but who is often on the training grounds during our appointment time. She makes us feel welcome, and goes out of her way to be friendly and encouraging while we are there. Thank you, Cloverleaf. Your pursuit of excellence in your craft has been of great benefit to our family. Keep up the good work!

We've sent our son Ryan there for a few summers now and he's really enjoyed it. The couselors are always awesome. The food is healthy and the kids have a great time. We were really disappointed that they stopped doing the crepe thing... our son loved it. Also the bathtub carts broke which were super fun for them. Given the cost of a day of camp it was a little sad that they don't have those things before. Camp has gone from $2000 a season to $2400 a season so it's not cheap, or $79 per day if you don't go by the season. You can also buy 20 packs at $69 a day. The drop off and pickup is pretty easy. The kids do lots of projects that get emailed to the parents, which is pretty cool. Great camp and we've had great experiences with them. Our child loves the camp and the staff. Friday's are the most fun day so if you only have your child go once in a while, those days have the special activities usually.
