Parents…read morepay a high price and it's well worth it, but they should understand that the most members of the staff (who make the campers experience such a positive one) are payed what amounts to 3 or 4 dollars an hour over the course of the summer. I'm not really sure why this is legal and mgmt's justification is that counsellors receive tips at the end of the summer. (Thank you for subsidizing some of the salaries,) but there are many committed young people who work very hard to make ever camper's summer an amazing one don't share in those tips. I'm sure the owners are doing quite well and it's a shame that a part of their success is a result of taking advantage of The young people who are so dedicated to making Kiwi a success.

Super fun Girl Scout Camp not too far from NYC / Westchester - about an hour, give or take…read more The great thing is that the drive up starts to feel more and more like "the country" as you get closer. It's kind of easy to miss the entrance but once you find it, you be able to park and walk to the various campsites. Not sure if this qualifies as "glamping"... There are pre-pitched tents with cots as well as cabins and bathroom buildings with showers, toilets and running water at each of the sites. Apparently there are cabins as well but I haven't seen any kids staying in them (they may be for younger kids, when they're here). There are also covered cooking areas with sinks and hearths for fire building and outdoor bonfire fire pits already cleared and ringed with large rocks. Having said that, these areas are all open to the elements, save the roofs in the cooking areas and the bathrooms / tents. Overall a very quiet, peaceful spot in the woods, with tons of trees and a beautiful lake. This is a pretty great introduction to camping for kids if they've never gone camping before.

After 8 years of summer bliss at Pennsylvania Girls Scout Camps we thought we would try Rock Hill. The first year we signed up they cancelled the entire season with no notice 3 weeks before it was supposed to start. This year my daughter was sent home 2 days into her first week for a conflict that was handled incredibly poorly and wouldn't even have been a bump in the road for Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania. To make matters worse they didn't even bother to follow up to discuss with us what happened. We will never go back to this camp and will happily continue driving 2 hours to wonderful Woodhaven, Laughing Waters and Mosey Wood where my daughter is happy and safely away from the drama and incompetence that seems to be plaguing Rock Hill. I'm glad others have had better experiences but beware because when things go wrong they do not know how to handle it.

I sent my special needs daughter this past week to the summer camp they provide and it was the best decision I could have made. Despite never having to care for a diabetic prior to this the staff was very accomadating. I did some prep work myself making cheat sheets on what to do for her and I was always a phone call away if there were any questions. The kids were wonderful to my daughter, (as a mom of a diabetic you always fear that kids won't be nice). Every day my daughter didn't want to come home, and because she did so much putting her to bed was a breeze. Thank you Miss Princess, Miss Cathy, Miss Chelsea, Mr. Jamal, and Miss J for all you do. All being well Ana will be back next year!!

My child was bullied and physically assaulted and the Director did nothing about it. I asked for specifics of how the situation would be handled going forward as this was not the first time my child was harmed by this other camper and she refused to give me any plan. I said well if you can't give me a plan the next time it happens I will have to call the police. the Director then hung up on me and the late in the next day (Saturda) she sent an email telling me that my kids were kicked out of the camp and not allowed to go on the sleep away portion week that they were already packed for and excited to go on that Monday. The owners of the camp also refused to call me or email The situatio. Summer trails let the bully win and my kids were victimized by the bully the Director of Summer Trails ! the Director is the most evil human being I have come across in my life! Stay far away from this place!
