My son has been attending for four years. He is there now…read more When we first visited Kabeyun, he was very young and we went for a tour. The former director gave us a tour and we were sold. However we were hesitant because my son has social challenges and never seems to fit it. It has not been a picnic at all times and "not a happy camper" sometimes took on new meaning, but new director Ken Robbins and his staff have done a wonderful job. The best thing about them is that they do not say that everything is wonderful. I know I always get an honest but kind appraisal and so does my son. Last year he got an award on paper plate on the last day of camp and was thrilled. It said "Diamond in the Rough Award". Someone who I showed it to thought this might be a bit insulting to my son. No way. It shows me that the award is real. What other types of awards mean anything, anyway? Also, they provide financial aid to some families. This was a surprise. The camp does not seem like the kind of place that would due to its amazing land, facilities and trips. I just would not think they would need to attract families. This is a great thing. Nothing at Kabeyun is cookie cutter. The boys chose their activities twice per day. The staff has lots of young guys but a lot of seasoned men who are specialists - whether as a carpenter or outdoorsman. Really impressive folks. Highly recommend.

Over 100 years operating as a boys sleep-away sports camp on Lake Winnepesaukee surrounded by the White Mountains, it has some of the best views in the country. A great summer adventure for any kid looking to experience a unique summer sports adventure; campers are exposed to a variety of sports and mentored by an international staff comprised of mainly sport-specific counselors, the campers will experience a summer like no other!

The campus, on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee, is absolutely majestic. Yes, there are some bugs...but that's merely an insignificant part of being out in nature and such a beautifully isolated place! Another truly unique feature of Winaukee is that their camp is divided into a Mainland (for younger campers) and an Island (for teenage boys): this allows for two different, age-appropriate cultures that really can't be found at any other camp. Winaukee is a sports camp - pretty much anything you want to play, they have it, along with skilled coaches and periods throughout the day to train and improve, and a waterfront with all the lake activities you could ask for. The training can be as intense or as recreational as you want, it really just depends on how serious you want to be. Beyond sports, there are so many additional events and activities that give the Camp its true spirit: camp fires, community rallies, inter/outer camp competitions, amazing off campus trips to places like Boston and even Canada, and many other traditions that can only be understood if you've been lucky enough to be a part of them. Unfortunately, any place is going to have occasional unpleasant experiences; however, for about 98% of the kids, they leave in tears at the end of the summer because they aren't ready to go home.

WHAT?!?! If I had known Robindel was on Yelp, I would've given it 5 stars 100 years ago…read more My last summer was eleven years ago, and I have been back to visit almost every summer since. The memories and friends that I made at camp will certainly last a lifetime. The directors Ann and Nat have done everything possible to maintain the important traditions of CR, and you never have to worry that they will sell out to a big camping organization or that they will ever build a pool. The lake is the most important drawing point because it is the largest, most beautiful, and most pristine lake in all of New England. The camp wraps around the lake, and all of the property in use is along the waterfront. The grounds are impeccable, and the campers (but for a few bad apples) love and respect the camp, and its traditions, to the up most degree. The food is another important drawing factor. Gary, the chef, whose first summer was in 1958, still makes everything he can from scratch, and he is extremely talented. He is the only Black man, who can braid a challah better than any Jew on earth. Gary sparked my love for food 17 years ago, and now I'm an elite yelper all thanks to him. My mom says he is the reason she sent me here. This is an all-girls, uniform, camp. The campers are primarily, but not exclusively, Jewish. The staff is almost exclusively gentile, with the exception of returning camper counselors. The directors and administration are strict, and rule-breaking isn't tolerated, and is treated as a distraction to the overall camp experience (i.e. you'll get sent home for any serious infraction). However, as a camper, there was never any temptation to get into trouble. Even at 14 years old, boys, cigarettes, drinking, etc. were the absolute farthest things from our minds. In those years, we would never think of doing anything to jeopardize our Color War standings. Color War at Robindel is a 7 week event, with competition taking place every Sunday, and culminating with Sing in the final days of camp. The winners are determined after the Sing competition. Seriously, send your daughters here. It comes more highly recommended than Babbo or Ippudo.

*** The one-star review is referring to Salmon Falls KOA; NOT Salmon River Falls RV!! ***…read more My family and I decided to come to this campground on a whim, wanting to stay in Maine. We have stayed at the KOA in the same city, and we weren't super thrilled with the campground. The Salmon Falls River, RV campground, on the other hand, is amazing. My parents are staying on a site directly behind us and between our two campers we have a ton of space. My brother stayed at a site in the back of the Safari field with the woods right up against him, and he also loved it. We have two picnic tables set up near each other and an area for outdoor seating inside of a net. For amenities, they have two pools, an indoor pool, as well as an outdoor pool. There is a volleyball net attached to the outdoor pool. We are up here on a super rainy time of year, July 4, 2023, and we still enjoyed our time. The other campers are super laid-back, and we have enjoyed every person we have met. The campground puts out a schedule of activities for the weekend, and there are many different activities that campers can choose to participate in. My mom and I enjoyed an adult only bingo night in the adult bingo hall, there was a candy bar bingo for the children to participate in by the pool, and the ice cream truck made a visit on Saturday evening. Everyone here is very nice and very accommodating, from your fellow campers to the staff and owners. We are approximately 45 minutes from old Orchard Beach, and all of the other coastal activities. This is a definite repeat for us. Awesome place, 10 out of 10 do recommend.
