If you've been running on empty or just need to remember what it feels like to breathe again,…read moreRiverstone Cabins is the place to go. Tucked right up against the Frio, this spot isn't just scenic -- it's sacred. The moment you step into those clear, cold waters, everything else falls away. It's impossible not to believe in magic when you're surrounded by that kind of natural beauty. The property is well-maintained, the owners are kind and responsive, and the location feels private without being remote. Whether you're floating in the river, watching the stars, or just sitting still for the first time in ages, there's something deeply healing about this place. We'll be back. Probably many times.

Because the point of Riverstone Cabins is that you stay at the river all day and it is heavenly! Even in the thick of Texas summer heat, the air is breezy and not scorching hot. You can sit on your porch and listen to nature and the river water rolling over the stones and it is absolute perfection. It is peaceful and serene and the moment your feet hit the coolness of the Frio River in this secluded watering hole, you are transformed into a place that is truly magical. We cannot wait to go back every time we leave.

The front porch/balcony was the perfect place to read, watch the sunrise, and enjoy the birds. The "backyard" had a gorgeous view of the hills and had a picnic table, campfire, and bbq to make dinner and s'mores watch the sunset. The cabin itself was stocked with everything you need from kitchen utensils to coffee to extra blankets. Also, the living room had tons of entertainment like board games, movies, and books. Our favorite part of every night was reading and talking in front of the fireplace. The bed was massive and comfortable with cedar walls that made the room smell so cozy. Outside, there was a small clearing where we laid and star gazed, and one night a deer ran by us! Even the road to get to this place was absolutely stunning. My only suggestions would be better lighting in the bedroom, a bigger bathroom mirror, and curtains or blinds on the front windows. But I would definitely return here--we felt safe and it was wonderful in every way.

Great fun if you are into that sorta thing. One of the most beautiful drives in the lone star state. Motorcyclists populate the highway, so use caution but enjoy the drive... Now the lodges: made out of cinderblock with touches of local wood. Inside there are large kitchens with microwave, full size fridge, and stove. The cabin is one large room with wood floors, not separate areas. A futon that folds out into a bed is in the living room, directly behind that is a queen sized bed. Close to the dining table in the kitchen are the twin sized bunk beds basically in a nook off the wall. A bathroom with a stand up shower is off the kitchen (if you have a baby bring the portable tub). The back patio was great with a bed, benches, and adirondack chairs. Off the deck in the yard area was a patio table with umbrella and a charcoal burning grill. So, even though we had a large group in one cabin, we still felt like we had plenty of space. The owners of the cabin were extremely friendly and brought us a breakfast of homemade blueberry muffins, pecan bread, fresh squeezed orange juice and seasonal fruit. The lodges are in perfect proximity to Lost Maples state park, but away from all of the road noise. This is a place for those that like a hidden, cozy feeling, but still need more ammenities than camping(i.e. air conditioning!). My family will definitely be staying here again. Oh...make sure to stop at the store and load up on what you need...the closest full size grocery I believe is in Utopia about 20 miles away.

After I discovered their site, the hubby and I decided to conference in a call. The phone was immediately answered by a very friendly lady named Carren. We told her our likes and dislikes and in under 5 minutes she suggested about a 1/2 dozen properties they book for (they have listings for over 200). After we reviewed the suggested properties, we certainly had a preference for which one we would like to stay at (the Fawkwerk Cottage at Haussegen Log Haus). Booked and done! And, I must add this was a last minute trip. We called about 2 days prior to our desired arrival date and Carren was more than eager to accommodate us. We loved the Cottage and our "hosts" (please see separate review) so much that we decided to stay an extra night. One call to Carren. Booked and done again! GREAT customer service from Carren and all of the other staff we interacted with! They were all so helpful, friendly, and a hoot to boot!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR ALL OF YOUR TRAVEL NEEDS WHEN VISITING FREDERICKSBURG, TX!!! Have to add the following to the overall review: On the FCLRS website, they offer "Romance Packages" that you can add on to any lodging stay. We discovered this while we were on the initial phone call with Carren during booking. So, the "fun" between my husband and I and FCLRS began very early into our first experience of Fredericksburg. A necessary explanation: There are 3 different package prices ranging from $39.95-$59.95 that offer a variety of items to enhance your stay; chocolates or roses perhaps...or Easy Cheese (Midnight Package) and 1-time use camera (in the Snuggle Package). hahaha! I am NOT kidding! Here's the URL: http://www.fredericksburg-lodging.com/romance-packages.asp We all laughed so hard at the offerings while we were on the phone....and continued to laugh when we arrived to check-in and get keys to the cottage. The whole crew have a great sense of humor and complimented us on how fun they thought we were. :-D So much in fact I was sent out with a free can of the cheese. hahaha After we decided to stay the additional night we had to pick up our breakfast voucher after FCLRSs business hours. Low and behold the envelope was rather large...that's because they had included a free disposable camera and written "Love u guys...Have fun!" on the outside! Well, I had made the off-handed suggestion that I thought the cheese and camera should come in the same package...so they gifted us one of each. Thank you!!! Love you guys, too!!! The best customer service EVER!!! .....'as I type still smiling'.....;)

We were able to enjoy the tranquil surrounding, it was just so peaceful. The jacuzzi over looking the landscape was such a wonderful bonus at added to the perfect night. The second night, was a cold evening so we sat by the fireplace, watched a movie, and had a glass of wine. The cabin was 15 mins away from down town Fredericksburg so we visited several of the wineries. It was an amazing anniversary.

The manager, Veronica, is an absolute gem. She helped us with so many things from getting extra linens to giving us ideas for places to eat, since we were there during off peak times and early in the week. The spot that they are on in the river is absolutely stunning. The cabin we were in was peaceful and quiet. It was also just a short walk to have a beautiful view over the river and if you took a different path you could easily hop in. The back porch of the cabin was serene with bird feeders and even a humming bird feeder! There is a fire pit and a bbq pit if you feel like doing your own cooking. The cabin has all the necessary things for you to do your cooking for the entire time. I will say, prepare to be in the shower a touch longer, as the water pressure was somewhat low, but man...when water pressure is your single complaint, you know you're in heaven!!! I highly recommend this place and we will for sure stay here again. It's also reasonably priced. I advise if you're not trying to accommodate a summer schedule to go during the off season to enjoy a few less people.
