After finding a couple of places closed, we called Barons Creekside. Best thing we ever did! We spoke to Lasca, who was actually out with her family for dinner Despite this, she got us set up in the cutest farmhouse, gave us directions and instructions to get in, and after her dinner was over, she stopped by to check if we needed anything. The excellent service did did not stop there. We were treated like family, and we really enjoyed walking the beautiful, scenic grounds and hanging out at "The Club" on property! Finally we were told to try A Country State Of Mind Guest House. With incredible good fortune, her guests had cancelled at the last minute, so there was room at the inn! It was the great serendipity of our romantic getaway! June, the owner and proprietor made us feel like her best friends, taking us on a tour of all the best places to have fun, and set up our easels and paint! The guest house was charming, pristine, and well appointed. The property has a creek running along the property. They provide tubes if you want to just float and relax in the shade. The pool has a sun tanning ledge if you don't want to spend all your time in the shade. Each cabin has a fire pit and a s'more kit is provided. I would recommend cooking dinner at the cabin as most restaurants are only open for breakfast or lunch, but we did visit on the off season. The closest full size grocery store is in Uvalde, so plan accordingly. Also cell service on verizon doesn't work in this area, but free wifi is provided.

The owners are very knowledgeable about everything to see and do within a 100 mile radius and they are interested in making their guests as comfortable as possible. These new themed cabins (Cowboy and Harley) are located on 5 private acres, with comfortable beds, a porch for bird and deer-watching, full bathrooms and a kitchenette with dining table and flat-screen TV. Another great comfort is the wall (not window) air conditioning and heating unit. It kept us very comfortable during changing weather. The owners have thought of everything - not only are the cabins well-appointed and comfortable, but there is a large platform porch "The Sundowner Lounge", gas barbecues, a fire pit, picnic area, hammock and horseshoe toss games for anyone to use. The small town atmosphere and great shopping and eating in Bandera cannot be beat! Fabulous antiques at good prices, ecclectic shops with second-hand to upscale clothing and jewelry, and even a great quilting store - "Gone Quiltin". Wednesday night at the 11th Street Cowboy Bar, where you cook your own steaks. No need to spend any time in the city! We stayed for a week and really relaxed.
