I am so so so so so so SO happy I found Tagalongs. This place was a lifesaver this past August…read morewhen I was super pregnant with my second child and I had a toddler who needed to be kept busy during the hottest of days. The only "complaint" I have is that it's not right around the corner from me, otherwise I'd be there every day with my daughter. My 2 year old daughter had a blast at Tagalongs. I would say this is her favorite play place. She is not a physically active child and really prefers to use her imagination so Tagalongs was the perfect place for her. She would run back and forth to all the different shop fronts pretending to be a waitress at the diner, camping in the camper van, fishing from the boat, doing hair at the salon, and even fighting fires on the fire truck. Her favorite place to hang is the Vet Office where she can take care of all the furry friends there. They even have a cool lego wall which kept her occupied for quite some time. Tagalongs also has a physical component to it where kids can climb, slide, and bounce on the trampoline. We were there on weekdays and it was never super crowded. Kids were running all over, but it was never overwhelming. All the kids were having a great time. The play place is immaculate and the staff is very very friendly. You pay their entrance fee and then you can come and go throughout the day. Most play places give you a 2 hour time limit and then you have to leave or pay extra. I love that you can come early, then go out and grab lunch, and then come back in the afternoon. Everything about Tagalongs is perfect! If you have a child who loves to use their imagination, this is the place for them. They will have a great time!

(With an attitude) basically making the girls to pick up the toys and put them away My wife mentioned to her and she lost her mind and started yelling clamming she was doing her job and there were cameras. Hopefully management check the cameras to verify Patty's attitude. Not a good experience as Patty didn't gave my daughter and her friend enjoy the place rushing for and early close. Totally unfriendly finally they left to stop the argument with her. I don't understand how a person with that attitude represents customer service in a children's place.

This review will be short and sweet as it is solely based upon entrance fees…read more Impromptu family decision to have a "day at the lake" today since the weather was perfect. Headed to Tomahawk Lake as it was our go to once upon a time. The price PER PERSON (not per car load) was $22 ... and that was NOT including the water park. If you wanted to add on entrance to the water park it was ANOTHER $15 PER PERSON! We were a party of 4 adults and 3 teens and it would've literally been $259 to ENTER the lake!!!!! AIN'T NO WAY! For that price we could've done a real amusement park, a real water park ... a real lotta other things worth $259. Needless to say we ventured elsewhere but wanted everyone to be aware of this absolute absurdity before wasting your time and gas venturing up there.

My husband found this place nearby when Lake Hopatcong was full by the time we arrived. I've never…read moreheard of it but it seemed to have a vintage vibe, so OK I'm game. I regretted it right away. It's ridiculously crowded - no problem with parking as they sure made extra space in the back, but driving to the back woods parking lot I was afraid we were gonna hit someone cos of people walking indifferently on the paths. The tiny "beach" is made of hard packed sand, the texture of a dirt road. There are many garbage cans around, which, I appreciate that as there's nothing worse than trash on the ground, but I also don't want to be sitting next to one. There are some picnic tables in the further grassy areas that seemed more chill but the tables close to the water could not be crammed any closer together. The water where kids are playing in is murky and gross looking, as to be expected cos sediments stir up, but this just does not look clean and is way too full of people. And I would not call this a water park - it's a lake with some dingy play structures on it and some boat rides. There also don't seem to be enough lifeguards for this many kids. Summer prices (July 1-Aug 20) are $20pp over 9yo, and $18 for under 9, but you have to pay additionally for the water slides ($13-$17) and other activities. You might as well take your family to a proper waterpark for this price. Maybe once upon a time it was cute as people seem to have nostalgic memories of this place (and they definitely trade on the camp nostalgia), but it seems the park operator is only interested in packing in as many people as possible to the detriment of the experience. There is good live music with a guy playing old time rock n roll, they have hash browns yay (3 for $2.50), and my toddler had fun regardless of my lack of enjoyment or relaxation, hence the extra star.

It was once part of the Morris Canal which stretched from Phillipsburg to Newark some 90 miles carrying iron, coal and zinc in the 1800's. Lake Hopatcong has both private and public beach access. Lake Hopatcong State Park has the largest public beach access. Swimming is restricted to Wed.-Sun. from 10am-9:30pm while lifeguards are on duty. The park itself opens at 8am. Lake Hopatcong has a short but nice sand beach and swimming area. Be aware that once the parking area is filled everyone coming later will be turned away. If you get to the park by 8am, hike the short trails or start up your grill for breakfast, lunch or dinner. All the grill areas have picnic tables and most have tree shaded locations. They are first come first serve.. The park also has a boat launch for larger motor boats, kayaks, sailboats, jetskies etc that can be brought unto the lake..A sand court volleyball area, basketball courts, a soccer field and playground equipment are on-site, as well. For those that have a New Jersey fishing license, fishing areas are available. Large mouth bass, sunfish, catfish, perch and pickerel can be caught. In the winter you can ice fish. The restrooms have showers and changing rooms, The concession stand has fair prices and serves burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, funnel cakes, and drinks. Dogs are premitted but must be kept on a leash no longer then six feet.
