Very cool campground with sites right on the beachfront with fabulous view! We stayed for 6 nights in January, with 3 of them being at the beachfront site. Sites are tight, very friendly staff, bath houses have individual little rooms with shower, toilet and sink and very modern and clean. No dogs on beachfront sites due to city ordinance protecting the turtles while nesting. We will return! read more

I would have given this place 5 stars, but their WiFi (or lack thereof) is a major problem. This park is packed but is also clean, safe, well-organized, and kid and pet-friendly. Everybody adhered to the quiet time rules, and there's nothing that beats walking right out of your front door to the beach. But! Their internet connection is not able to handle the huge volume of visitors at the park. If you are a student or employee who needs the internet to do a little work while on vacation, you're out of luck, so this was a major drawback for me. If that's a non-issue for you, then I would definitely recommend staying here. read more

All of the employees at Camp Gulf are very friendly and so polite and helpful. The campground is right on the beach with two pools, one with slides, an activity center, amazing shower houses, a basketball court, and plenty of things to do. By far the nicest campground I've been to. read more

The campground is fantastic, the bathrooms are better than most people have in their home. However, if you would like to have WiFi (as the website advertises) then maybe think about packing a hotspot, because it has about 1/100 connectivity. Other then that, great campground. read more

For a camping beach experience over all it was fair. The staff was very friend, the bath houses were nice, the snow birds were decent but some were really grumpy and did not like kids at all. Our first visit was in October '16 and since then we have booked 4 visits, each time same great service. We really enjoy the clean sites and location to beach. There are rules, but they are really just common sense and common courtesy for others, if you don't like the rules then by all means don't come back it gives those of us that love it more availability to choose from. If there was a negative it would be that it is usually hard to get reservations unless you book a year out, but that just goes to show what a great place this is. read more

Read reviews decided to take the risk. Scheduled vacation paid reservation fees and pulled the fifth wheel down here. Nice quiet park is about the only plus I can find. If you are looking for a camping experience forget it campers are packed in like sardines in a can less than 6" from my RV awning to the RV in the next site. No campfires here! Wifi is supposed to be included in the exorbitant price. It's here if your lucky enough to get connected. Hook ups are convent. First of all let me state that we stay in scores of rv parks as we travel in our rv for months at a time. We have never experienced feeling the way we felt here. This place is not cheap, $120.00 a night so one might expect some customer service. We figured the park looked nice and we would spend some time, maybe a week or two, there to try it out so I gave them a call. My first clue that something was amiss when i got a dissertation of a bunch of rules and i had to agree verbally that I understood them before I placed the reservation. You have to commit to a non refundable deposit of 1 day to make a reservation. We said ok but then you have to commit how long you are going to stay? If you leave early for any reason you have there are no refunds, including a hurricane. Now i am hesitant to book for more than 3 days because we have never been to Destin and we did not know how we would like it. If you think you may want to stay longer you have to commit and remember no refunds. I inquired about staying longer and was led to believe there would be no room and we better make up our mind. We stuck with the 3 days. The 8 sites next to me have been vacant for the last 2 days. We were told when you arrive stay in your rv and wait for the beach patrol and they will take you to your site and then you have to come back to the office and pay. Oh, I inquired about a pull thru, we have a 45 footer, and I was told they were all booked. There were 2 open in front of during our stay. I then inquired if we could get beach front. She said that was available and asked if we had pets. I informed her that we travel with a cat but the cat does not go outside. We were then informed that we could not stay on the beach or near the beach because of the cat. I again repeated that the cat stays in the rv at all times. She told me that it was against an ordinance and there was nothing they could do. I will come back to that later. We finally arrive. We wait right next to the office,as we were told multiple rimes, and the beach patrol shows up and takes us to our site and guided us back in. Thank you. we got hooked up and now have to walk all the way back, 1/4 mile uphill in the heat, to the office and pay. Just mentioning it for anyone that may have a problem with this or is handicapped. Now the fun begins, check in time. You walk in the office and the women pulls out the rule book and starts going over pages and pages of rules like a commandant. You can not do this, you can not do this, etc etc etc for 5 friggin minutes and you must agree to the rules and sign a lease. Page 36 states term and conditions you must agree to rent the land and that your stay is is subject to Florida statutes 514.144 , 513.121, 513.13. You have to agree to all the park rules, there are pages and pages of them or they will threaten remedies under the statutes. Warm and fuzzy yet? Page 37 contains 30 rules Page 38 contains all the pool rules, walking rules, night riding rules, etc. etc.. Page 40 and 41 list all the federal, state, and county statutes by number and all the penalties and fines. Really? I thought I came here to relax and not sign my life away. Page 42 contains the beach rules, wheels rules, and pet rules. For example, you must obey the 4 1/2 mph speed limit. Did I mention they have radar with signs that read "You are being watched!" and "Only you can prevent more speed bumps". The pet rule requires you to make declarations and you have to agree to Florida statute 767.04 and agree that the campground can charge you immediately for all costs, including attorney fees. I suggest you bring a lawyer with you at check in so you know everything you are signing away. Are you kidding me? Getting back to my cat. I read all the statutes they footnoted and all pertain to keeping your dogs on a leash and cleaning up after them. Nothing about cats There was no mention that you could not keep a pet in your rv. These people are control freaks and on a power trip. There are more no this and no that signs then I have seen in my 62 years, the pages and pages of rules are read in a very brusque manner. You feel like a convict and the prison warden is dictating. There is no way we have felt relaxed here and we can not wait until we leave. Everything is stated as a threat. You do this or else. All terms of acceptance are in caps or underlined like you are a moron or low life. Anthony from hotel impossible would pop a vein with all the no rules and legal threats. Do yourself a favor and stay in one of the many other parks and avoid this place. Every park we have ever been to has always welcomed us and appreciated our business. We just rented one of their cabins for a week...we loved it! Cabin was so cute with a loft that the kids can sleep in. Employees were very helpful and friendly. Place was clean. Right on a beautiful beach! Plenty of shopping up and down the main road. Can't go wrong! read more

We recently stayed here 3 nights that is about the limit it is very busy and has sand on every site not as nice for the price 500.00 for 3 nights but great access to beach no grass at all that i could find not great for pets . read more

We absolutely loved our stay at this RV park. We stayed in the first row off the beach in spot 707 (we have a small dog - so couldn't take front row). We came in late (11:30pm) on a Friday night and were met by a wonderful gentleman, Daniel, who escorted us to our spot and helped us get backed in. The next morning, we checked in with Pam and she was very knowledgable about the area - food, things to do, see, etc. and she made the check in process super smooth and easy. Every employee we've encountered here has been friendly and helpful. They have a lot of sites, so I'm sure it can get really busy around here, but during our stay the park was only partially full (Aug 28-Aug 31, 2015) so it was quiet and very laid back. The views and access to the beach are absolutely awesome!! We step out of our camper, walk maybe 60 ft. and we are on the beautiful white sandy beach with THE MOST perfect views of the ocean. We've seen dolphin's every morning! Just super convenient to by able to sit by the water, come back to your RV and go back out. The bath house by us was very nice, updated and clean. Had plenty of hot water and room to move around. We will definantly come here again - felt it was well worth the money. We didn't have kids with us, but it has lots of things for them to do. 2 pools, hot tub, play area, etc. Very family friendly. Again, loved our stay and highly recommend it. read more

A big warning if you cancel..they keep the first nights deposit. I was not aware of this and cancelled my 4 day cabin rental. They kept $314! I was not told I loose the first night deposit, I saw on my credit card statement when I wasn't refunded the full amount of my cancelled stay ,I called and thats when they told me. I feel robbed. I spent a week there in June 2015. Overall a nice RV park although a bit pricey. The shower houses were good and were being remodeled. Plenty of activities for both the kids and adults. Nice pools, activity center and a wonderful clean beach. The low points was a very weak WiFi signal. Maybe enough to open an email but that's about it. No bike riding was allowed after dark even with lights so go figure. We had to walk our bikes to the main Highway 98 to begin to ride. The very worst was the smelly and overflowing dumpsters. Campers had to set the trash on additional full carts and even on the ground. It smelled horrible. I felt sorry for the campers who had to camp near them! The smell of grilling burgers had to compete with the noxious odors from the dumpsters. I would recommend this RV park but make sure to not rent close to the dumpsters! read more

We have stayed at Camp Gulf a few times now and always look forward to coming back. Last time was last week as we had fall break. As others have already said, the park includes its own beach access, two pools, and a host of additional recreational areas, such as a basketball court. We always come with our motorhome, and the sites are nice, spacious, and clean, ,while the staff is friendly, attentive, and helpful. So far, we have stayed in the upper park area which gets us some shade and nicely trimmed landscaping. The walk to the beach is short, and we don't drag as much sand into our rig that way. If you have satellite TV on your rig, upper park sites can be a problem because of the overhang from the trees, but Camp Gulf has excellent cable service, so we don't mind not having sat TV. Wifi is good throughout the park and can be used easily for simple things like browsing the web and checking email. If you rely on wifi to stream a lot of videos, you should bring a hotspot. That way, you won't experience any interruptions. Awesome place for adults and kids alike, and guaranteed to be fun if you are ready for it. Great people all around. We always regret having to leave; however, we have already booked our return for 2018. read more

This will be our second visit to Camping on the Gulf in consecutive years, we love it! We were met at the gate and escorted to our site, and then offered assistance getting backed in. The place does get busy so make reservations early or accept what they have available.Yes they have rules, but this is a privately owned business and they have to comply with the law and minimize their liability. We met people who have been going every year for 25 plus years, and book the following year before they leave! If you want to stay at a 5 star "resort" and be pampered this is not the place for you. But if you like to RV and love the beach, this is the place hands down! read more

we were very impressed upon arrival, until my husband found drugs and paraphernalia in our cabin, we have 5 children and any one of them could have easily found this stuff, the management gave us a credit for 2 free nights!!! we had a few extra days left on our vacation so we decided to use our credit to extend our stay, but we were told we couldn't use it to extend the current reservation, so we thought fine we will just make a new reservation for two extra days, they wouldn't allow that either, and the credit is only good for one year, we traveled over 1000 miles for this vacation, needless to say most people cant take that kind of vacation twice in one year, after some haggling my husband was told we were just trying to get 'something out of them' at that point i decided i wouldn't stay there again if they paid me to stay. it is my sense they offer these useless credits in the hope that no one will actually ever be able to use them, we were never given any explanation as to why we couldn't simply make a new reservation, the paper they gave us said "can be used at any point for up to a year" but that was clearly not the case. i cant recommend camp gulf to anyone and WILL NOT! ever stay there again. read more
