Just returned from a 4 day school group trip. Outstanding experience! Plenty to do, it is run very efficiently and the location/area is amazing right on the Nueces River. There is a 3000 ft exhilarating zip line, the super swing, a cave to explore, rock climbing, mountain traversing/repelling, tons of great hiking, many options for accommodations ranging from rustic to bougie. We all had a great time. One review complained about hearing crickets! Seriously? You're in the wilderness and complaining about hearing crickets? The road is not that bad either. It is dirt and gravel and 8 miles, yes, but I drove 40mph and had no issue other than it being narrow if a vehicle is coming the other way. Unique and incredible experience; great staff, Just okay food.

I have spent 4 different weekends here both visiting and working to support the camp. The people are both super talented and willing to do whatever it takes to make the camp successful and fulfill the mission. Campers will learn about the Lord, adventure and a true respect for things outdoors. Plenty of activities for a retreat, church camp or just a family getaway that allows you to explore the outdoors. Beautiful country, great accommodations, and excellent staff. Whether for a retreat, church camp or a family vacation you cannot go wrong.

We camped next to the river. Beautiful country land. The river was so clear you could watch the fish swimming. Make sure you get very clear directions. We knew it was on Highway 55 halfway between Rocksprings and Camp Wood. The GPS will not get you to the gate. It's off by about 3 miles. They don't have a sign and there is no cell service in the area. If you have trouble finding it stop at the little cabin with the red roof. That's family that will help you. It's only 1 mile from there. Hard to find but totally worth it. We will be coming back.

We have over 3 miles of 100 million-year-old, spring-fed riverfront from 6-inch rapids to 8-foot deep bedrock holes and Pecan trees from 50 to 500 years old. The limestone, flint and caliche hills are approximately 500 feet in height. Springs bubble up in the river, out of the ground and run out of solid limestone rock! There are white tailed, axis and fallow deer, black buck antelope, turkey and very many species of birds. In fact, nowhere else on the North American continent is there such a variety of species of birds, as the Texas Hill Country. Hike to see the panoramic views from the cliffs above the river. We suggest bringing your mountain bike or ATV for park transportation and to view the wildlife and scenery.

The cabin had everything we needed including river access (Nol has given public access to the river as part of a lease agreement with TPWD). I didn't get to meet her but Mark says she's the best. We had deer, skunks, bunnies, opossum, fox and horses. The bird watching was great. Who else says, "give me a hug" but someone as great as Nol! I can't wait until next year.

Nol has 2 cabins for rent that are a stone's throw from the river (30-second walk). They are attractive, clean, well-furnished and they are both newly built. As someone who likes to kayak Central Texas' rivers I've had the opportunity to stay at numerous different riverfront cabins and I have to admit that Nol's are the best by a long shot. Sadly, I can be overly critical at times but these accommodations were excellent. The bed (queen-size) was plush and comfortable, the AC was frosty cold and her riverbank is private, quiet and beautiful. She even has one of the best swimming holes that I've experienced on the South Llano. The 100-year old pecan trees that line her stretch of the river provided us a comfortable respite from the hot July sun. If you like to fish and run the rapids like I do Nol's property sits on an ideal location on the river to float into or float out of when making kayak trips. Pro Tip #1: When you make your morning cup of coffee go sit down on river's edge upon her rock steps. It's quiet, relaxing and you'll have the whole river to yourself. Pro Tip #2: After your dinner meal go sit out on the porch and watch the wild turkeys, white-tailed deer and axis deer come out to feed. We saw more wild game and birds than you'd see at the zoo.

This photo says it all. Bathroom/showers scheduled for remodel, but they are clean and tidy. Laundry room is also neat as a pin. Cabins were being re-roofed during our stay. The sites are wide, level gravel and each has a big charcoal grill and picnic table. Half the sites are pull-thru, half are back-in. There is no television signal in the valley, but there is Dish equipment you can get from the office at no charge. Highly recommend it. Towing on Cty Rd 348...I would recommend only doing it from 83, which is kind of a wheel-gripper itself. 348 coming from 127 in Concan would be a nightmare. Once you're unhooked and settled in, take a drive across the river on 348 and you'll see what I mean. You'll love this park, and you'll love the owners. Don't forget to buy some corn for the deer and Rio Grande turkeys when you visit the office!
