My family and I just visited Magers River Camp the last week of July and we had a wonderful time…read more Magers has campsites, shelters, rental cabins, and rental trailers available at decent rates. We stayed in Rental Trailer #1. It had air conditioning, potty, shower, mini fridge and freezer, a three-burner gas stove and oven, full-sized bed, and four bunk beds. All camp spots have a picnic table, fire pit, water, and electricity. The bathrooms were only about one hundred feet away and kept very clean. I'm not sure what the root cause was, but the breaker to our trailer tripped about five times the first evening. We immediately told the owner. The breaker was replaced and we were able to spend the rest of the week with fridge, stove, and ac all going. What I appreciated the most was the effort that was put in to quickly resolving the issue. While we were waiting for the breaker to get fixed, I had to put all of our food back in the three coolers. We were given ten bags of ice and a load of firewood without asking for the trouble. The trailer was perfect for our large family. We had the beds full and the teenagers pitched a tent under the trees. Even though the trailer had a bathroom, most of us walked the short distance to the bathrooms. I went in several times during the day and the bathrooms were fully stocked with three roles of toilet paper each, multiple liquid hand soaps, and super clean. The women's restroom had two showers with doors that locked. My husband says that the men's restroom was clean and "smelled nice." The location of Magers is perfect. If you have stayed at Garner (we always did for the last several years), Magers is on the other side of the damn. The teenagers crossed the river on foot, danced at Garner, and then we picked them up in the car at eleven. Even though we have always stayed at Garner, from now on we will stay at Magers. Magers has fifty or more campsites, but was less than a third full. It is quieter at night, less traffic (we let all of the little kids ride their bikes and roam unsupervised without fear they would be run over), and as we have a hard time juggling three household schedules, we were still able to book a trailer less than a month in advance. It took three minutes to check in and three to check out. The only issue we had was getting someone on the phone. We gave up after the fifth try and started emailing instead. Our emails were immediately replied to. They are not able to take credit or debit cards, only check and cash. We sent a check for the deposit and the lady emailed us the day it was received and then again when she deposited the check. Onsite they have a volleyball net, horseshoes, and ice for cheap. The area is completely surrounded by trees. The kids went into the wooded area to hunt for marshmallow sticks several times and this was not a problem. At Garner, you cannot get kindling or marshmallow sticks from the woods. Overall, we were greatly pleased. We checked out the cabins that overlook the water for next year and will probably stay there as one can see the dam from the picnic table. To contact: magersrivercamp@hotmail.com

It was lovely, only issue was that a massive family with tons of kids and 4 loose dogs were right next to our tent site. I'm not sure if we'd stay again, unless they actually start enforcing noise regulations. They partied allllll night and it ruined our experience completely. Oh and be careful of the wild hogs. But otherwise it's a beautiful campground and the staff were very nice with booking.

What is great about the location is you are a very small walk down to the river bank, but way up high on the cliff to get a great view of the area. When the sun gets past 7pm, the oak trees give a lot of shade for the dinner hour. You are also near Old Baldy trailhead if you want to do a quick climb up the tallest peak there. Parkview has all of the amenities like a general store, full service bathrooms that are kept clean, and daily trash pickup. The wifi is pretty unreliable but does work with a delay like satellite internet. If you have AT&T for cellular service, you will be fine in the Concan area. Everyone else will suffer the total disconnect from the virtual world, which you were hoping to get away from, right? I usually go during Father's day week which seems to be a very busy time. It's hard to get a reserved spot during peak times, so be sure to ask to get on a waiting list.

Reading past reviews seems people have had issues with customer service, but I did not run into that at all and everyone was great! I did not see them bugging the neighbors at all. And they weee up late. FYI- Reviewing Shady Oaks Area, Campsite 3. (1,2,3 & 4) Were not nice But, 5,6,7 etc. are nice. Pro: Lots of shade for sure!! CONS: 1. Super Dusty, makes the inside of your tent disgusting & full of silt 2. No Fire ring 3. Area on a slant, no flat surface area designated for tents & it's all rock and dirt 4. Hard to tell what area is yours 5. Old Bathrooms NEED better ventilation in them they are so disgusting and muggy you can't get dry. (They have new bath houses that are better but further away from Shady Oaks area) They do have nice cold water though and amazing water pressure that will rip your new sun burned skin off! Now I know why this spot was actually available. It truly sucked, sorry to say but that was my experience.... I should have not waited so long to make reservations. Like always there's good spots and bad spots. The river access is great. Plenty of spots to sit and soak, but it's no Garner State Park; There are some deep areas, water seemed warmer than usual. But, ya know no one controls that lol. So back to camping: I was just disappointed since you have to pay so much for the area, you get nickeled and dimed... 10 dollars each additional tent per day, 5 dollars extra per person etc etc... for $536 dollars for camping I expected nicer I guess.... Maybe it was my expectations that disappointed me. Camp Riverview is very RV friendly though, lots of great activities for children and the night sky was amazing. Will I return as a tent camper, NO. Way too expensive, to be crammed between the neighbors and and sleep on dust.... Although the riverfront spots seemed better and nicer, maybe I would have been happier there.

They had great amenities- basketball court, pickle ball, pool, playground etc! We will be coming back for sure, especially in the summer to take advantage of the water fun!

This photo says it all. Bathroom/showers scheduled for remodel, but they are clean and tidy. Laundry room is also neat as a pin. Cabins were being re-roofed during our stay. The sites are wide, level gravel and each has a big charcoal grill and picnic table. Half the sites are pull-thru, half are back-in. There is no television signal in the valley, but there is Dish equipment you can get from the office at no charge. Highly recommend it. Towing on Cty Rd 348...I would recommend only doing it from 83, which is kind of a wheel-gripper itself. 348 coming from 127 in Concan would be a nightmare. Once you're unhooked and settled in, take a drive across the river on 348 and you'll see what I mean. You'll love this park, and you'll love the owners. Don't forget to buy some corn for the deer and Rio Grande turkeys when you visit the office!

This is a family tradition at this point. My Kids and I love the dance and the hiking and the river. It used to be a yearly thing, but since it's gotten so busy and the kids have gotten bigger, we go about every other year now. The screened shelters are nice if you want to make a room inside or just to store things. Surprisingly enough, the bathrooms always seem to be clean and well stocked. They are also cold which is nice when it's hot out. The store offers lots of basic essentials in case you forgot anything and the gift shop is stocked with merch. There is currently some construction which can cause some headaches, but it's pretty minimal.

They own Rock Island which includes quite a long stretch of the riverside and is popular for day use but not directly in the Campground so it's quiet and peaceful. I highly recommend it. The attendant was very friendly and very helpful in showing the place. It's a small family ran place. This is one of those places you return to year after year.
