This is what you might call a "diamond in the rough." We've been there twice and LOVE it! The…read morecabins are furnished with everything you need except toiletries & some items for cooking (condiments, food). We love the rustic feel, and especially the swimming hole! If you want to go "off the grid," it's perfect. They do have internet in the cabins but no tv - and only minimal cell reception is with AT&T. But this place makes it so easy to forget the rest of the world & simply relax! If you have a small family, the one bedroom smaller cabins are ideal, which is where we stayed the first time. This time we stayed with another couple in one of the two bedroom cabins & had plenty of space with 4 adults & 3 kids. Tell Butch the Disney's sent you! :)

I'm glad I took the chance. My family and I loved it. Communication with the staff prior to arrival and throughout our stay was great. Check in was easy. The ladies at the front desk are super friendly. The cabin: we stayed in cabin 15. The cabin was spacious. It had two rooms and each room had their own private bathroom. The living room had a couch and a TV. The kitchen was fully equipped. They have a coffee maker. Each cabin has a cute little porch swing and chairs. It also has a picnic table and a barbecue pit. The beds were comfortable. They provide linen. Th. The bathrooms are clean. Toilet paper is provided. Showers have good water pressure and hot water. They do provide shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. They also provide towels, but you have to get them at the front desk when you check in. The property has a playground, pool and a splash pad. The river is walking distance from all the cabins. You can take your truck or car down to the river to unload, but you cannot park your vehicle at the river. The river is practically private. It's nice and has plenty of space. They do have floats and kayaks you can rent. I did notice that you could walk a little ways up the river and float back down. The property is clean. The front desk does sell ice. It is an honor system and you pay at the end. Parking is available at each cabin, but they only can accommodate about two cars. If you need an extra parking spot, the front desk can assist you with that. The booking system was super easy.

River Bluff Cabins are located along the Rio Frio just south of Leakey, Texas just off Ranch Road 1120. It's a little slice of heaven conveniently located to the shops and restaurants in Leakey as well as to Garner State Park (not that you will have much reason to go to Garner State Park if you are staying at River Bluff Cabins. We stayed in Casa Cascada, one of their larger cabins. It has 4 bedrooms and 3 baths plus a full kitchen and two dining areas. The staff at River Bluff Cabins are helpful and very attentive. You will be hard pressed to find a hostess better than Heather. We will be back! That's for sure!

Some things have changed; they don't offer mule rentals any more, so you have to bring your own or drive your vehicle to the blue hole and exploring the ranch. The Blue Hole now has "beach access", where as before you had to 4 wheel drive to get down to the beach or swim your ice chests and such over to the beach. The houses are just as immaculate as always. The little store wasn't open this year as they only had one care taker, instead of a couple, who worked his rear end off. Was disappointed, however, to find out the owners plan to start bottling water for retail purposes. I have a feeling that access to Evans Springs, every bit as popular as the Blue Hole, will be gone once that starts. Not to mention what it is going to mean to the Frio its self, as these are springs that feed directly into the Frio River. I hate the thought of the BEAUTY of the land to be spoiled by a water bottling plant being built there. This is truely the last of the wild frontier and I hate to see it industrialized. All in all, though, we had a wonderful time, just as we did the previous two times we have stayed there. Houstonians should have gotten a discount that weekend, as there were 4 or 5 different families from the Houston area and only two of them, I think, knew each other! Great minds think alike! :0)

The front porch/balcony was the perfect place to read, watch the sunrise, and enjoy the birds. The "backyard" had a gorgeous view of the hills and had a picnic table, campfire, and bbq to make dinner and s'mores watch the sunset. The cabin itself was stocked with everything you need from kitchen utensils to coffee to extra blankets. Also, the living room had tons of entertainment like board games, movies, and books. Our favorite part of every night was reading and talking in front of the fireplace. The bed was massive and comfortable with cedar walls that made the room smell so cozy. Outside, there was a small clearing where we laid and star gazed, and one night a deer ran by us! Even the road to get to this place was absolutely stunning. My only suggestions would be better lighting in the bedroom, a bigger bathroom mirror, and curtains or blinds on the front windows. But I would definitely return here--we felt safe and it was wonderful in every way.

My bestie and I planned a little getaway and wanted to experience a new river, as we live in the DFW area. Let me start with the access to the river is wonderful, plant your chair and relax. There is a small natural pool area as well. You access the river via a stairway or where the land slopes down to the rivers's edge. This part of the river is stunning, and shaded. These cabins are well suited for families and spending all day in the river to return to a place to cook, relax, and rest. The cabins are nice in a basic way, and comfortable. They and provide cookware, coffee pot, microwave, dish soap, kitchen towels, and a fridge. Pro tip - Ensure you bring paper towels, paper plates, trash bags if you are a large family, coffee, and all of your food essentials because Walmart is 45 minutes away in Uvalde and the general store pricing is high. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I were more prepared, even though the website is clear on what they provide. I'm not sure what I was expecting, I guess I have just stayed a cozy couples cabins, but it was great for two friends, and I will definitely bring my family back. The cabins are close together (we could see and talk to our neighbors on there patio) so if seclusion and privacy are what you are looking for this may not be the spot. I would strongly recommend it for families as they have common areas for basket ball, volley ball, and a park for the littles. Great stay and Margie at the desk was awesome. Wonderful stay. Because the point of Riverstone Cabins is that you stay at the river all day and it is heavenly! Even in the thick of Texas summer heat, the air is breezy and not scorching hot. You can sit on your porch and listen to nature and the river water rolling over the stones and it is absolute perfection. It is peaceful and serene and the moment your feet hit the coolness of the Frio River in this secluded watering hole, you are transformed into a place that is truly magical. We cannot wait to go back every time we leave.
