IF YOU HAVE A SHORT NOSE PUP, I RE-PEAT......IF YOU HAVE A SHORT NOSE PUP DO NOTTTTT TAKE THEM HERE!!!! They do not care for them, or look after them like they should. We have had a wonderful experience at Camp Bow Wow up until about 6 days ago, and we will NOT be returning. I dropped my French Bulldog off at daycare around 9am and picked him up around 2pm. Upon arrival, they brought him out and I noticed he was panting and breathing way harder than normal. I had never seen him breathe like this before. I was scared and asked the female staff member if she could bring out some water. She brought him water and then ended up bringing him a fan and wet towel to wrap him up in. I told the staff members that I was afraid he was over heating and going to have a heat stroke. They seemed unconcerned about it, and acted like this was normal since he is a frenchie. They never called me to inform me that he was over heating, and they didn't bother to take his temperature when I picked him up either. This is my biggest fear with having a short nose pup is him dying from a heat stroke. I ended up taking him to the emergency vet. $1,300 later ...they had to do blood work and hold my baby in an oxygen tank for 12 hours. The medical report showed that his temp was higher than normal and he was also dehydrated. I called the camp and emailed 4 TIMES OVER THE LAST 6 DAYS with no response from the camp director. I told them I wanted to see the tapes time stamped with how long he was playing in the out door yard. They claimed he wasn't outside at all and that he was "playing too hard" which I call BS. My dog lovessss being outside. Also, they say that the indoor play area is 74 degrees at all times but they leave the door open all day long. How is it 74 degrees if yall leave the door open all day long ? I have attached 2 pictures below. One) With the door being left open and my baby is in the orange collar. Two) With my baby in the oxygen tank at the emergency vet. He was also with the big dogs all day. If y'all noticed him playing to hard and getting exhausted why didn't y'all move him with the smaller dogs? A 45 pound frenchie doesn't need to be left with bigger dogs. I have requested compensation and the name of their insurance company. Camp Bow Wow, do something about this and make this right and I will change this review. This was completely unacceptable. We both know what happened here, and it was negligence on your end. I'm EXTREMELY concerned about all the other short nosed pups that you guys have in your care. Had to have my dog euthanized after boarding here. I boarded both of my dogs (Golden Retriever, 12 @ Beagle, 18) here for 7 days while my family and I went on vacation. When we returned, we picked up our dogs as usual. Talked with the staff about their stay, I was told everything was fine. A few hours after we got home, my Beagle had severe diarrhea. I happened to look at my recipe from Camp Bow Wow and it showed that they had to give her a bath about a few days before we picked her up. I called them and asked them if she had been sick while she was there. I was told "Yes. She got sick with diarrhea in her crate for a few days". I was never notified or informed when we picked them up. They told me that it's very common for dogs who are not used to being boarded to have anxiety and get diarrhea because they are stressed out. That's fine. But don't tell me their stay was fine and not inform me that she was sick. My dog never recovered and was extremely sick over the nest day or so. She was a senior dog and we had to have her euthanized two days after we picked her up from CBW! I spoke with the owner, Tracy about the situation. She apologized for me not being informed that my dog was sick. I requested that my tip be refunded because well, my dog was really sick in their care. She assured me that she'd make sure they credited my tip back to my card. I never received the credit and she hasn't returned my text about it. I was extremely disappointed with my experience with them. We'd used them a few times before and things were fine. They can keep the tip. Took my beagle Charlie to Camp Bow Wow in McKinney. He visited several times. So Charlie passed away last week. Few weeks before that he was able to stay at Bow Wow. He enjoyed his time there very much. I watched him on their app. I really loved watching him enjoying himself. The Staff is friendly and seem to really enjoy their work. My dog used to be so excited to go to Doggy daycare, he would jump up and barrel toward the car. We noticed the past few times he's been sad to go, and even more lethargic once home. He's been sent home twice after having soiled himself and his bed which is supposed to be on top of the provided cot. This dog will hold his functions until he's in physical pain - he's obviously neglected for hours and hours for this to happen. The staff has missed instructions about my sweet's boy's care, neglected him, and now they don't even let him out to play AT ALL because he's a senior dog and they can't be bothered to give him adequate care or help him to a corner where he gets fresh air and is out of the way of the younger dogs. I agree with other reviews this place has gone downhill. I hope corporate takes a look at this place and rectifies the issues. The staff should be ashamed. read more

Use someone else if you're in need of a groomer. I don't know if the guy's new, inexperienced, or what but after spending 3 hours with my 2 dogs, they returned with crappy cuts. I asked for something simple: a short cut all over. But their tails were uneven (poofy in some spots, skin-shaven in others), there were frays of hairs all over their bodies and especially on their bellies and paws, and they didn't smell clean -- there was no soap odor. I wouldn't be surprised to find out they didn't give my dogs a bath, especially since they still felt greasy. For $75 a pup, you'd think you were getting an excellent cut, but nope! It's not worth it. One positive is I picked them up unscathed, so I'm glad they handled my dogs with care. Another positive: the woman at the front was super nice. But their lobby smells like a hoarder's home with a spritz of stale booty, so the reviews about the questionable cleanliness of this place are spot on. read more

I took my three dogs here based on the good reviews and the positive interview process. The 6 day stay for my dogs ended up being a nightmare! I have called several times and the director of the place refuses to call me or my husband back to address the issues. When we picked our dogs up on the 23rd, the front desk lady said there were no issues with any of my dogs and everything went great. We get home and our dogs just start whining in pain. When we look over a dog (8 month old puppy) her inside of her back legs were all scratch up. Please see the attached pictures. When we called the front desk lady said again nothing happened. We provided screen shots that my dog was humped several times in the outside play area and it wasn't broken up for several minutes. She later called and said yes my dog was hurt trying to get away but it wasn't anything serious. I have pictures of how deep these wounds are. My medium size dog came home with her ears all bitten up and her collar torn. She also had a hoodie piece of clothing that was Literally torn in Half!!!! My oldest dog was scratched near the eye and is oozing out stuff several times a day. They also told us during the interview that someone was on site all night with the dogs and this was a lie. They leave the dogs alone over night and watch them on the security cameras. I have called several times and can't get someone besides the front desk girl to answer or call me back. I wasn't notified when it happened until I went to pick him up. Just a list of reasons to never bring your dogs here. Far better places around with best pricing. 1. Multiple calls to get someone on the phone 35 to be exact. (Thankfully wasn't an emergency.) 2. My little dog was humped for 10 mins straight with no help from staff because no one was in the small dog yard 3. Dogs beds soaked in pee bc they are feed at 4-5 pm let out once more then placed in kennel for remainder of evening so of course they are going to need to go out again. I've asked what happens when the beds are peed in and was told, "oh we will wash the beds." never seen that happen beds are always soaked in pee. Glad my dogs sleep in pee during their stay. (Never happens at home) 4. Come home with red rashes and patches of missing hair. 5. Put up for extended periods of time sure do to the amount of dogs and limited staff. We just picked up our two pets from Camp Bow Wow McKinney and we are very satisfied. We have boarded before and have never seen any place that is as good as home, but it is what it is. On the final night we couldn't find our little pup anywhere on camera, so after they verified everything was ok, she was eating in a separate cabin (by our own request), she was placed back in the suite with her larger brother. Later on that evening we received a image of them giving personal time to our pups to put them and us at ease! Wow! I don't even know how to react: I took Soda Pop to get groomed and such at 10:45 (appt was for 11), I had not heard back so I called the office at 1:30 and directed to a voicemail box so I went UP TO the office. Walked in, the lady went to see why I hasn't been called, apologized for the wait and said Soda still had about 20 mins left and I could wait or go run an errand in the mean time. 2:30, no call again, go BACK to the office. Got Soda, realized he has poop ALL over his tail and his feet/toes in the parking lot. Go in again, they apologize for the wait but take him back to get rinsed off and said it must've happened when they put him in a room after his grooming and realized he pottied in the room (later told this is why he still had 20 mins left) and the lady must've only rinsed the room and not him. I brought my dog here for groomers. I called the day prior and set up a appointment to drop off my pup at 7 am. My dog has really bad skin allergies and dandruff so he needed special soap and the deluxe wash. When I got there the lady didn't even know who I was nor what I was there for. They didn't even call when he was done. I called for him around 11 to see what the hold up was. They told me he had been done for hours. When he was picked up, he smelt like he wasn't even washed. His fur was very thin, and I could see his skin in places. He had a lot of dandruff and teeth weren't brushed and nails weren't trimmed. I was very disappointed considering I paid the extra money for this service. Not to mention he came back very itchy,and no good boy handkerchief. Will not be returning. read more

Two years ago, after relocating to Texas, I was excited to learn McKinney had a Camp Bow Wow, as I had been taking my dogs to Camp Bow Wows throughout the country for 10+ years. Over the last decade, I have had many great experiences. Unfortunately, I now feel like a horrible dog parent for exposing my innocent puppies to the atrocious staff and conditions at the McKinney Camp. If you insist on taking your dogs to this location, I strongly encourage you to pay close attention to the webcams. My 25 lbs Cocker has come home numerous times with cuts and open wounds on various parts of her body, the staff says nothing. My Shepard has been left in play areas by himself for hours on end while countless other dogs play and enjoy themselves just on the other side of the fence, I have screenshots. I've had an incomprehensible amount of days were my dogs don't show up in any play room for the majority of the day. One time, I asked the staff if my dog was bad because I didn't see him on the cameras all day. They said my dog is big and has a lot of energy, which intimidates other dogs so they gave him a lot of breaks. I thought nothing of it until one day, after not seeing my dog on the cameras all day, I picked my big guy up from daycare and discovered him soaked in his own urine. For reference, my dog stays at home most days while I work and he has never had an accident. Furthermore, I have had numerous belongings go missing from blankets and toys to collars and beyond. Also, I suspect, my dogs have missed meals as they have come home after boarding with way more food than they should. We measure out food and typically send them with an extra day and half of food, but they return with multiple days of food. When I first started taking my dogs here, the staff was very friendly and pleasant. However, the last year has seen the good ones go only to be replaced by sour apples. I truly hope this location can turn it around, but I will not being exposing my dogs to the gross negligence of this Camp anymore. read more

This place was a life saver for our family! At last minute our sitter cancelled on us as we were going out of town for the weekend. Camp Bow Wow evaluated and accepted our Lucy for boarding at last minute! The next time we went on vacation Lucy stayed with them for 11 days. I loved being able to see the live feed all the time to check on her. Dusty was awesome with her! Today was interview day. I knew my pup would do okay because he's a good pup. I had no idea what to expect from this place but here is what I experienced: When I walked in, I was greeting by a lovely woman who opened us with open arms. No complaints on her. The place smelled like the lobby had been sprayed to mask the true small of feces. They made me wait for a few minutes while I watched my pup get introduced to everyone on what seemed like prison quality cameras. The areas that the dogs were in consisted of a hard jail looking floor and a small grass area. Most dogs, including mine, won't lay down unless they have soft flooring, a blanket, a bed, something other than hard floor. There was no separation so there was no obvious area where the dogs had to potty. Some played outside, most inside. They have an app which is nice because you can watch your pup. What's not so nice about it is, you can see how careless and lazy the staff are. You have to pay for 15 minutes of "snuggle time" with your dog. They take that literal. The man who was in there most of the day, just stood there. Barely watching the dogs and just seemed like he didn't want to be there. He had a spray bottle of water which he refilled multiple times. No, he didn't just spray dogs who were rough. He sprayed any dog that got too close to him, dogs that clearly weren't his favorites. He didn't pick up a broom, a mop, anything all day. I also saw a dog get humped right behind him. The dog pushed the other off but it's just the fact that he was that inattentive and no one was watching the cameras! When I picked my pup up, he smelled like he had been standing in feces and urine all day! They brought him out to the car, but I didn't even get the chance to ask how he did today, not that they would know. I will never bring my pup back here. This is not a day care, this is where you take your dog when you just don't care, want him to stand all day, and want him to be covered in feces that aren't even his. There are other places that are cheaper, provide clean environments and actually play with the dogs for free! Go elsewhere! read more

Do not make the same mistake that we did!! We just picked up our 3 dogs after boarding them for a week while on vacation and I will never do it again. We love our dogs like they are our own kids and I would not recommend this place to anyone!! Not only is it extremely over priced, but they do not follow directions no matter how simple you make it. We left dog treats to give them every night and they only gave them twice. When we checked on the cameras, we would notice that workers would leave them in their room with poop all over the floor. Our dogs seemed to get little to no attention and after all of that.., When we picked them up, they were covered in pee and all had poop stuck in their fur!! My poor baby barely ate from all of the stress and lost 3lbs and has had diarrhea all day. Do not make the mistake of sending your dogs here. I first found Camp Bow Wow as it's next door to Home Depot..which we frequent. They were having a little event not too long ago and we walked over to check it out. We talked to Jessica, the resident trainer as we were looking for our dogs to learn manners (of which they have none. promise). We needed boarding and I looked up their prices and was shocked at how great they are! $75 for two dogs per day..no hidden fees, nothing extra to let them play. However, they had to have an "interview" which basically means they have to verify that they can play well with other dogs. Ya'll. I lost sleep over thinking my dogs were too heathen to pass. We got there an filled out paper work and got to watch the pups on video as they were introduced to other dogs. They brought the younger (and much bigger) pup back out to us and ended up doing the two dogs separately as he was being protective of his smaller sibling but he did well when it was his turn. The interview is necessary because they allow the dogs to play together all day. I am just so beyond excited that my pups passed and that they'll get playtime each day were gone, this is something that not all boarding has (or at least at an affordable price). The dogs are never playing alone, there is always an attendant. You can watch your pup on video (they have an app) when you aren't there. After their interview they got to stay for 3 hours to play so i went home and watched them on the app for 3 hours. Haha..only I am not kidding. The staff is amazing. There was a conflict of shot records (which you need by the way) for one of my pups and Marnie was great, and so patient. She also talked to us a bit while we were waiting on their interview and really made us feel comfortable and that our dogs would do fine. I even talked to Kim, the manager, and she was equally as nice and helpful. Jessica, their old trainer and recently promoted to assistant manager, has been so helpful as well. I feel so comfortable bringing my pups here. Right now, 11/14/2016 is today's date, they even have a Groupon for day play. Usually $26 but you get it for about $11. I bought it up so I can get my pups even more comfortable with going there before staying longer periods. Book in advance...they fill up for holidays! Mini update as my pups have been coming for a year and a half now. Can i give 10 out of 5 stars? The staff here is beyond amazing and so very accommodating in times of need. Day after the 4th of July (holiday boarding is really popular) we had our A/C go out and they fit our dogs in so they wouldn't have to be home in 85 degree temps. We also had a pretty traumatic accident in our family about a year ago and they took our dogs in immediately so I wouldn't have to go back and forth. Unfortunately this location has gone down hill. We boarded our dogs here approximately 4 years ago and everything was fabulous. This time I should have known there'd be issues when I read the newer reviews and checked in. When we checked in on Sunday I asked how to access the cameras in their suite since I booked one of those suits when I made my reservation. The young lady at the counter was surprised I was in one if those and asked me who booked it because someone had told her they made a mistake and double booked. I told her I booked with Megan. She told me she fixed it and put them in kennel 2. During check in we also asked to have one of our dogs bathed before we picked him up. I also explained that even though our reservation went thru the following Sunday, our flight was arriving Saturday early in the afternoon and we'd pick them up around 4. Thursday of my vacation I received a phone call from someone at Camp Bow Wow who now told me that they double booked and one of their regulars would be moved into my kennel and my dogs would go to a normal kennel - nothing I could do at the point. We arrived at 4:30 Saturday to pick them up and they told us that our dog had not been bathed because he was scheduled for 3:30 but they were so backed up. Then they told us that the 2 blankets we dropped off were being washed since one of our dogs had an accident and I could come back in an hour to pick it up. I didn't even realize how urine coated my little 14 year old dog was til we got home. She is the one who clearly had the accident and her back end and rear leg were covered in dried thick feces. Her paws were so coated in urine that her white fur was tinged yellow. She looked like she'd been standing in a pool of urine for a long time. Never again will I leave my dogs here. We visited McKinney for a week during Christmas and needed a place for our high-energy Jack Russell terrier to burn off some energy. We took him to Camp Bow wow three times, and he came back calm and laid back every time. It was also fn to check on him throughout the day using their doggy cams. I received a call from a high schoolers who was in charge the day I brought my dogs in for play care. She was letting me know that one of my dogs was bitten at the doorway, a obvious pinch point for anyone knowledgeable about multiple dogs in a small spot. She assured me that the other dog wasn't allowed back. My pup had a good gash on his hind leg and I went immediately to the vet, who graciously stayed late to see us. A few hundred dollars later and some meds in hand, we went home. No manager or anybody for Camp Bow Wow ever called to follow- up or to see how the wound was healing nor if my dog had been traumatized. If you are a new client attempting to make reservations within a short time frame don't bother-interview process required which is normal but they are booking to far out and will not hold reservations pending the interview nor do they care to know the customers needs and communicate proactively regarding scheduling. I contacted them 3 times to arrange and interview and after every phone tag interview dates were quickly filled so finally got an interview 3 days prior to needing boarding to be told they have availability only to arrive to the interview to find out they no longer have availability. If you know your business and care about your families interested in joining the network the conversation should have been "I suggest you book with someone that will can guarantee a reservation or can get you in quicker for an interview because knowing our business by the time you interview here we will be sold out" versus have me take off work to show up for a dog interview to find out I still have no dog care for vacation plans and just get a "sorry" no thought of the unnecessary stress caused. Guessing this is also a symptom of the McKinney area growing so great client capture moment for other dog resorts to swoop in! read more

My puppy Basil has been going here for 2 weeks now and it is a lifesaver for my fiance and I. Since he is still a puppy he gets super hyper and wants to play. I can't play with him as often as he would like me to during the day, so taking him 2-3 times a week really helps tire him out and he gets to socialize with the other dogs. And it is quite addicting to watch him on the camera feed. The staff is super friendly and I can tell they really love dogs. So I feel comfortable leaving him there during the day.
