We went in for a trial visit. The overwhelming horrid smell of dog urine penetrated the entire lobby area and more than likely the entire building. The man at the desk was less than positive but the gals that actually took our dog to the trial in the back were very sweet. Signed up my dog for the group classes which came with 6 classes with each being 1hr long. First off, the classes were always 45 mins or less and never the full hour. The trainer had to cancel one class due to illness but never indicated the class itself would be rescheduled. At the start of what would have been the 4th class, we were told by those at the front desk that the trainer had quit and there would be no more classes/they didn't know if we would get refunded or ever get these classes rescheduled. It has been over a month and I have not received any communication from the management acknowledging the situation. I paid the full price for these classes and have not received any refund. Seems like the new management that took over does not know how to do business correctly and would not recommend this business at all. read more

Took my large dog here for an evaluation day and she stayed from morning to evening. She absolutely loved it! I love that I can easily check in on her through the app and see her playing. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and great follow up via email. The manager sent me a personalized video message which I thought was a nice touch. I purchased day care sessions and will continue bringing her here so long as she has a good time. My main complaint is that I was able to see on camera that a couple of their employees were not attentive to a couple dogs who were playing rather aggressively because they were busy talking to other employees. read more

I have been a long-term client of Camp Bowwow for two years. I was actually one of the only people bringing their dog to daycare at the onset of Covid. The staff has always been especially great and that is why I continued to use their services. I had not had any major issues until I returned from being away for three months and bringing my dog back to their daycare. Due to a change in management, I found their attitude to be very unprofessional and aggressively personal. There have been multiple situations where in the 15 years of using daycare facilities I have never experienced except for in the past three months. First I was forced to buy a collar at their store for my dog while he was a daycare there although during the previous times he was always allowed to use temporary collars they had on hand. Then I noticed they had raised the rates which is fine but the final straw was when I went to pick up my dog and due to Charlotte traffic arrived at a few minutes before their closing hours of 7 PM. I was harshly told that unless I pick up my dog by 630 from daycare he will be boarded. They claimed I I had been notified of this numerous times. I have no recollection of ever being told this. During all my time of using them I have never known this to be a policy. If you're going to raise your rates and decrease the amount of daycare time by 30 minutes then update your website for hours of operation 7 AM to 6:30 PM; not 7 PM which is FALSE ADVERTISING. Also ensure that you have signs within the facilities stating such as I saw none. I had voiced my concerns to a few of the employees and simply asked to pass along the message. After the handling of threatening to have my dog be boarded, I did mention to a staff member I was considering no longer taking him there. Last week the gentleman who works the evenings was most helpful in rectifying the situation or so I thought. I was still reconsidering until I got an email from the Manager at 9 pm stating that I was not allowed to bring my dog anymore to daycare due to my complaints! They claim they had tried to resolve them multiple times with me which I have NO record of correspondence for the past three months. BEWARE if you're going to use this daycare you should be aware of situations where if you voice any type of complaint it will be held against you, if you don't pick up your dog by 630 they will be boarded even though it's not clearly written or stated anywhere on site, You will be charge for a collar that is only used there, and if you share any complaints you will be sent an email instructing that they would like to part ways and not deal with you and insisting that they tried even though they didn't. If you go to Google and Facebook they have great reviews which is only because they provide incentives for future services to customers who write positive reviews. Also they will use pictures of your dog that you didn't authorize to use like the one in this photo. Aside from management, this daycare staff was excellent. I never formally wrote I would not take my dog there anymore nor feel the need to formally express complaints. I am unsure why I received an email stating that they are more than happy to part ways and not to bring my dog back. There are more than enough daycare services so BEWARE if you do choose this one, let it be known you will be involved in constant changes to the organization, brashness and poor customer service by management, increased rates with decreased hours of operation. And if you dare Voice your opinions, you will no longer be able to bring your dog. Plain and simple, I cannot afford to take my dog back to Camp Bow Wow any more. In the past year, my dog had been attacked 3 times, costing me over $1,500 in vet bills. Each time there is never any offer for the other dog's owner or Camp Bow Wow to help Pay for the veterinarian bills. They will simply tell you that the other dog involved in the incident was dismissed from camp and comp you a few days of your stay, which doesn't come close to the out of pocket expense I've had to pay in regards to vet bills. The past incident that happened October 7th was deemed as my dogs fault and while he didn't bite any other dog during the scuffle, another dog attacked him causing a pretty bad puncture wound. I received a call from Tammy at Camp Bow Wow stating that my dog had been in an incident and was fine, and that the assistant manager Abby said that it didn't seem like it would require them to take him to the vet (of course it was when they were closing so I'm assuming they just didn't want to take him at that point) I got a call the next morning from a Kim who is a certified vet tech (thank goodness they have someone there that has some knowledge of dogs) and she said that it looked pretty bad and in her opinion they needed to take him to the vet which I agreed for them to do. 10 stitches and a drain had to be put into my dogs belly and cost $700. After the fact they told me that they'd take care of two nights of stay (a total of $84) to compensate me. I can't believe that they wouldn't comp the whole stay as it literally costs them no money to do so. At all costs, please avoid taking your dog here as it's poorly run and customers aren't fairly compensated for incidences that happen to your dog while it's spending time there. We gave each business 2 opportunities to impress us with our fur baby and this team fell short on how WE were treated during the booking, drop off and pick up. Borderline snotty, we gave our substantial 3 day per week day care PLUS grooming and frequent boarding business to a competitor and are thrilled with the warm, genuine and welcoming team there. Strictly reviewing for puppy classes. It's a six week class. The first three weeks were great, but the last four weeks Camp Bow Wow has canceled EVERY SINGLE WEEK. They only notified me of the cancelation twice, and the last two weeks I have shown up for puppy classes only to find that they were canceled for one reason or another. This week no one was even there, I just showed up and the place was locked and closed. No one bothered to call me. Not to mention, I felt so bad that my puppy was really excited to see her friends and didn't get to. The people who work here are very sweet and the classes I've attended were great, but there are young kids working there who undoubtedly forgot to contact me to notify me of the cancelations. This was my dog's first -and only- stay at Camp Bow Wow. After a four day vacation my family came home to a completely disabled, lethargic, and utterly pitiful shell of what my dog once was. She likely suffered a spinal injury and is almost completely unable to walk, rendering her with none of the life and energy she once had. As far as what occurred inside the facility, I can only imagine some misstep in handling, which happens, but the fact that it was not addressed to my family outright upon pickup is 100% unacceptable, unprofessional, and cruel. My 15-month old dog never had any issues with people of any age EVER until spending a few days at Camp Bow Wow Charlotte Metro. Since then, our dog that has always gone everywhere she can with us, has snipped and snarled several times at various people, is very skittish and extremely fearful and particularly afraid of people in bright red and orange shirts. In an attempt to re-socialize and re-train her to her former self, I reached out 12 days ago to Camp Bow Wow Charlotte Metro to see if something/what happened. Since then, I have called the local Camp Bow Wow 3 times, spoken to an employee, the assistant manager and the manager, who all promised to review the videos from the days she was there and call me back. I've also called the corporate Camp Bow Wow who also promised to get to the bottom of it and call me back. I have still yet to receive a call. However, in that time frame, I have received a generic survey via email- which I also responded to asking for a call and also a direct mail piece. I'm very concerned with the level of attention Camp Bow Wow is showing the pets entrusted to their care. Based on the vast amount of activity on social media and other marketing efforts, it really seems like their focus is completely misplaced. Took the pooch here for his initial interview and he did great! Took him back for two overnight stays and he handled it like a champ! The staff was really nice, the location is a little hidden and seems like in a weird location, but it was fine. It's near dog topia which I've heard good things about as well. The only thing that stood out is that the outdoor area is just that...an area. Nothing for them to really climb on. The indoor area is the same. My dog has been going here for the last year and half. I never had an issue until dealing with David today. I called to book a reservation for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I plan to be out of town for only 2 nights during Christmas but was told I had to book a minimum of 3 days. I told him last year that I only booked for 1 day and that was not an issue. He told me with an attitude that's always been their rules. So I asked if it was the rule for all and he said just 3 locations. I cancelled all of my reservations and moved them to another Camp Bow Wow that is more accommodating to their customers needs. It is not so much the 3 day minimum, I take issue with how he spoke to me. I know I am just one customer but I will never use this location again! read more

So I have not had a good experience bringing my dog here since they day I brought him in for an interview. I left a bad review, the manager contacted me, and she was extremely nice. I decided to use the rest of the warm up package that I bought and give them a second chance. I thought bringing my puppy here would be such a great idea because he loves to play, but it has been everything but that. It is sad that bringing my dog to his first daycare has turned out like this. I asked to have him get a bath and he has been up for about 3 hours. I would've given him a bath myself if I would've known it would take away that much play time. I called and the guy on the phone was extremely rude. He was not sympathetic or understanding at all, and was only trying to explain every reason why I was wrong when I know my dog hasn't been out in the yard in like 4 hours. My boyfriend and I have both been watching the cameras. Mind you, he was there for a FULL day of daycare. Pathetic. And once again HORRIBLE customer service. This was such a bad first daycare experience and we will definitely not be returning AT ALL!! Oh and also, they clean during the day and put the dogs up. Camp Bow Wow Metro is a great spot to leave my dog when I go away on business or other out of town trips. Its convenient location near the airport and I-77 means that I can quickly drop off or pick up my dog when traveling. The staff obviously loves what they do and my dog always has the best time. I had to leave him for a few weeks this summer for an extended trip and was nervous about how he would be when I came home, but he was happy, healthy, and had clearly been well loved at CBW! read more

My dog came home with FOUR puncture wounds in her neck, and Camp Bow Wow failed to mention anything about it to me. I noticed a day or two later when they started to get big scabs. I understand that dogs may fight, but they should have been properly supervised, and I'm extremely disappointed in Camp Bow Wow for not mentioning anything about it to me. Had they said something, I'd still be taking my dog there, but unfortunately, she will never return since they don't have the decency to let me know if/when an incident occurs so I can ensure the proper care for my pup. We have been going to Camp Bow Wow Charlotte Metro for over 2 years now after moving to Charlotte. We used to absolutely LOVE the metro location and knew our dogs were in good hands. We travel a lot for work so knowing our dogs are safe and taken care of is extremely important to us. As of recently the service has gone dramatically down hill to the point that we will no longer be bringing our dogs to this location (we will be going to the Fort Mill location). It is an absolute shame as I know they love playing with their friends there. We brought them for memorial day weekend and I had some questions around our charges. I called and the individual on the phone could not answer my questions and was told I was charged a different amount then what was withdrawn from my bank account. Also, I was charged a deposit when I booked since it was a holiday weekend which was not applied to my total (watch out for this!). I then asked their pricing for 2 dogs overnight and I asked if the two dog discount was applied since they usually stay in the same cabin. She then asked "did they stay in the same cabin" to which i had to laugh. How am I supposed to know that? I wasn't there..that should be something you know as they were in your daycare's care! This isn't even the part that made me that mad... The worst was that when we picked our dogs up, our white boxer's butt and legs were totally covered in pee. We could obviously see it since she's white and her whole back side was yellow. I understand accidents happen but come on. My dogs are like my children and to pick them up and have them covered in urine is absolutely disgusting. I would have even paid for the bath if that was why they didn't wash her off. Unfortunately I don't feel comfortable leaving our very loved dogs in the care of the new employees at metro as I don't trust they will be treated the way we have come to expect. Great place for my dog. Unfortunately it's run by lousy people. Nobody know what's going on to my dog when I ask. My dog had a scratch on her which was bleeding, I know dogs can get rough playing, but where was the supervision? My dog clearly needed to be deshed and got a call from the groomer saying she "felt" like she didn't need to be deshed but instead gave my dog a bath. Shed all over my car on the way back so I stopped by Petsmart and got a brush and did it myself. Called (which nobody hardly picks up the phone) to get answer why they "felt" like she didn't need deshedding, was told the girl who did it was off will call back. Never heard from. I have only taken my dog Gator 3 times to CAMP BOW WOW. Though I haven't had the experiences other have..mine was pleasant. I find the people who work there to love dogs. Everytime I spy on the CAMPER CAM app he seems to be trotting along. I do w/ the clarity of the camper cam was better.. that might be my only complaint. But, other than that... my dog is EXHAUSTED when he comes home. I have never seen him drink and eat so quickly! Makes me happy cause I don't always have the time to exercise him like I should. My dog Bucco loves this place!!! We have been taking him here for about 5 months now! I usually just take him to day care about once a week if I can since I am at work and don't want him to be home by himself. He gets so excited when we tell him we are taking him to daycare! When we get there the staff is always so friendly and they always remember Bucco immediately! I am so shocked how they know him even if it's been a while since we have taken him there! They notice when he gets a haircut and everything! I usually try to watch him in the camera a couple times a day which is pretty awesome that they have this feature, and he always looks like he is having a good time. He does like to follow the people around inside! When we pick him up he is so exhausted and can barely keep his eyes open, that's how we know he had a good time!! I would give 0 stars if I could. Last time we will ever be here- paid for a day of daycare and a bath ($50). After dropping off at 8am, had not seen my pup on the webcams once so I called at 3pm and was told he "was given a break because he was too hyper". He does not have an excessive amount of energy, nor does he play rough. He was crated for hours unnecessarily. I don't pay for my dog to be crated I pay for him to play. THEN, when I picked him up, he had apparently chewed his collar in half? While he has never ruined a single thing (toy, etc.) from chewing. Staff allowed me to pick out one of their cheap collars to replace ours, however my pup was clearly left alone for a long period of time in the grooming room to have been able to chew through his collar. Will also still have to buy a new collar to replace our nicer one. Lazy, lackadaisical counselors who do not care about your pup. Take your dog somewhere where they are going to care. read more

THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE!!!! I've brought my puppy here 3 times total over a course of 7 months each time telling myself I should find another place to go too. Every time I've picked my pup up she has smelled like straight up urine. It's almost as if they allow these dogs to roll around in other dogs urine. I understand they can't control a lot of these dogs who aren't potty trained HOWEVER they can hose off our dogs if they happen to see them doing these things. The facility is dark and not nice. It is poorly kept up and looks like a dumpy garage that they threw up a wall in. I know for a fact that there are other facilities that do the exact service camp bow wow does for the SAME price and wayyyy nicer accommodations for your pup! THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT- these people let other People's dogs in without having their shots or telling them to "bring them by another time" and they allow these dogs in there to "play". NOT OK. My dog so far EVERY DAMN TIME has come home getting really sick costing my husband and I HUNDREDS of dollars in vet bills. She has has conjunctivitis 2 times! SHE HAS IT AGAIN FROM THIS PAST FRIDAY IN BOTH EYES!!!! And she has had terrible coughs and wheezing the 2nd time I brought her. All times I treated my poor baby and she got better but even to get rid of the cough took me 2 separate vet visits and 3 different medications. THIS IS UNFAIR and they should be held accountable for having such a terrible poorly kept facility. DO YOURSELF A HUGE FAVOR AND NEVER TAKE YOUR DOG HERE. Our little puppy Chewy absolutely LOVES his time at Camp Bow Wow! He has been going to camp for daycare and as an overnight camper since he was a few months old and we honestly believe the time he spends at camp with both his people friends and his puppy friends has helped him become the amazingly sweet and well socialized pup he is today. The staff is just wonderful - you can tell they truly love what they do! Chewy is also working with their trainer in their Behavior Buddies program and he has learned so much - we are thrilled with his progress! We love this place! Our son/ english bull dog/boxer, Sugar Lump, goes to school here (the day camp) often. We also board him here when we take extended trips. We had an absolutely horrific experience at a boarder/trainer in Weddington, NC. After that nightmare, we vowed to only bring him to CBW-Charlotte Metro. When we pick SugarLump up, from Camp Bow Wow Charlotte Metro, Sugar Lump is happy, clean, and exhausted. We also love that the facility is clean, he isn't trapped in a kennel the entire time he is there, and if there are any issues about his behavior or health, the staff calls us immediately. Speaking of the staff ...all of them have been consistent and friendly. They know Sugar Lump by name and greet us as we enter. We are allowed to call and actually speak to a staff person and watch Sugar Lump play via live video camera access. The icing on the top is that Camp Bow Wow-Charlotte Metro is affordable (especially with Groupons). I cant say enough great things about CBW-Charlotte Metro, especially after our "Weddington" nightmare. That experience made us appreciate CBW-Charlotte Metro 100x more than before! Today my 5 year old bulldog was involved in a squabble / fight with another dog. Thank goodness no one was hurt. I got a call from Abbie, the trainer (Chastain Location) explaining the situation. She figured out a solution to my dogs behavior and placed the blame on that of another dog who had been antagonizing Carter. Her resolution wasn't, "Carter can't come back" but, was "in the future when there are too many dogs in the pen, we'll separate him into one with fewer so he's not overwhelmed and he can't be with his sister or doggie friends.
