We were traveling overseas for my late husband bereavement service. We chose Camp BowWow for our 2 dogs thinking they would be in good hands. Unfortunately our experience was not good fron check in with Amanda... to picking up our dogs. I am a senior citizen with an injured leg. I just landed from a long and emotional trip. I went to pick up our dogs and according to Amanda... the groomer could not handle blowing out our dog (even though she has gone to a groomer 3-4 times a year since she was a pup and she is 5). She was put back in her'cage' and according to Amanda, they found her full of blood. It appeared she was bleeding from her tongue and broken teeth??? There are no cameras in the kennel area so unfortunately I had no say in what actu happened to our dog. Communication is also impossible. We tried calling at least 12 times to let kennel know I would be arriving early. No on answered phones. When I questioned what would happen if i was delayed and my dog had to stay overnight, Amanda stated no one is in building after hours, so basically my dog could have bled all night. (It also is concerning because if there is a fire or any kind of emergency no one is on premises and location is in middle of industrial buildings). Amanda did not treat me with respect or kindness even though I stated I was extremely tired and emotional. She was abrupt and tried to get her colleagues invol .. talking under her breath to them. I felt humiliated and embarrassed. I was tired and now had to find an emergency vet to care for my dog injury. I hope Amanda rece training not only with care of dogs but also with customers. read more

I have been taking my dog there since he was a pup, he is now 15 months old. I was told that he is suspended from coming back for six months due to his aggressive behavior. He is an English bulldog and what I was told by a license trainer, is he is very good with socialization, but on a lease, some dogs don't do well meeting and greeting each other when they have never been around each other before. There needs to be more supervision, especially on the weekends. read more

This camp bow wow is the worst I have been to. And I've frequented plenty as I travel quite often and I'd like to bring my dog along for vacation! You can tel the philosophy of this place is about checking the boxes and revenue. I tried to make an appointment about 2 months out, owner was saying he doesn't like to book that far in advance. Wanted to send in application and vaccine record, which I sent twice. They said they did not receive the first time, second, they said only received first page. Arrival, clunky. They require you to sign additional forms and put down credit card as payment. Note they have on business card and website says first day free. Only free for 4 hours. If you stay more than that for your interview day, they charge you. Unprofessional. Not representative of the camp bow wow spirit. Can be so much better. Also, the parking lot and the outdoor play yard are next to each other, each time someone pulls in the dogs go bonkers. Will not be back unless if I have no choice. read more

We had our dog at Camp Bow Wow over a weekend. We had initially planned to have the dog stay at the kennel for two nights, but because of our changed work schedule were able to pick him up after the first night. The owner - Ken - charged our credit card for 2 nights, even though the dog only stayed there 1 night. All of our attempts to resolve this unfair billing with him were of no use. He yelled throughout the entire conversation, did not let us speak, and got abrasive and sarcastic. We reminded him that we had used the kennel in the past and were planning to use it again this summer, but he yelled "I don't care" in reply. He said that this policy is in place to make sure he doesn't lose any income in the event the kennel was full and he would therefore be forced to turn down other customers; but there was no loss of income in this case, because the kennel was only half-full - according to his own statement! We ended up paying $78, instead of $39. In the business world, this is called a theft of services, and that is exactly what Ken committed. We also observed how a member of his staff handled customers' personal information. She didn't shred it, she just tossed the crumbled up customer profiles into the wastebasket. I certainly do not want my personal information to fall into the hands of identity thieves, who routinely go through the garbage in search of such documents. So sad that businesses like this one take advantage of our love for our pets. read more

I won't trust my Weimaraner to just anyone. For years, I've used several of the Lehigh Valley's most highly recommended dog kennels. Since these kennels are located far from my home (in the Parkland School District 18104), I searched for someone closer to home. ...That's when I found Ken at Camp Bow Wow in Allentown. At first I was skeptical... The setting isn't as nice as some of the other kennels in the Valley and it costs a bit more than the rest. But then Camp Bow Wow's owner Ken (a really great guy, by the way) gave me a tour of the facility. Everything was super, super clean. I saw all of the dogs playing and having just a great time. Plus, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that you can see your dog and Bow Wow's staff on a web cam during the day (who the heck knows what goes on in some of these pet boarding places behind closed doors, you know?). Anyway, I can usually judge how well my dog enjoyed his stay by his mood when I pick him up. Remarkably, my dog was exactly the same as the day I dropped him off, happy and vibrant ....(this was NEVER the case at the other kennels. My dog always needed a day or two to be his normal self). I viewed my dog on web cam several times a day and I saw with my own eyes how much fun he was having (at some of these other kennels, you will have to pay extra for additional play time). At Camp Bow Wow, your dog gets to play ALL DAY for one inclusive price! I love this place and I think the web cam is an ingenious idea. Camp Bow Wow also provides day care service which I plan on using as well. Take it from me, your dog is in great hands at Camp Bow Wow. And it's soooo convenient for me as well. Finally, the thing I liked about Camp Bow Wow is that your dog has to "apply" to get in. Your dog will spend a half day at the camp (free of charge) to see if he/she gets along well with others. Screening dogs is a great idea since it weeds out those with less than satisfactory behaviours. read more

It's a pretty solid option. Maggie isn't the biggest fan, and I do need to drag her in. There's quite a bit of barking, and I think it overwhelms her. Camp Bow Wow is a close option as it's great to be able to watch the live stream. Recently, they were able to help me out on extremely short notice, but they were not happy about it. I just wanted to update my review now that I've been taking my dogs to Camp Bow Wow for 6 months ... I can't say enough great things about CBW & their employees -- it's unfortunate that others had a bad experience, but I can personally say that I've never had anything to complain about. They are always responsive (when I call last minute to see if I can drop my dogs off the next day, they call right back), and attentive (I am always impressed by how well they remember all of the dogs, or random conversations we had the last time I was in). I was particularly impressed recently when I picked my dog up from daycare, and one of the employees pointed out a scratch he had on his hip, and asked if I knew about it. When I said I did, and had an appointment at the vet just in case (it turned out to be healing fine on its own), her next question was "Did it happen here?" -- it hadn't (he scraped himself wrestling with our other dog in the yard). I have heard many horror stories from friends' dogs being injured while boarded and the place denying any responsibility (or worse, seeing an injury and just ignoring it in the hopes the owner wouldn't notice). I was impressed that CBW wanted to make sure an injury hadn't gone unnoticed on their watch, and took the time to point it out to me rather than waiting to see if I said anything. To me this is just another example of how CBW really cares about what they're doing. My dogs are always beside themselves with excitement when I take them to CBW, so I know they are having a great time. They are well taken care of, and get lots of doggie and human interaction -- a great way for them to spend their day while I'm at work. I have recommended several friends and coworkers to CBW, and they have all had great experiences as well. read more

We had Jasper overnight at CBW from Thurs to Sun. He enjoys being with other dogs and all humans. We had his food and ear drops and toys for him and gave explicit written instructions for his care. We were very satisfied that he was well cared for. He came home dingy and smelly (of course! He was with all his buddies all weekend) so next time I may take advantage of their grooming service before he comes home. I'm happy to say he actually was excited to see us after his time at camp. My wife and I had boarded our two dogs for 4 nights while we went on a vacation. We love our dogs dearly and don't trust anyone with them. I figured a professional establishment such as Camp Bow Wow would give them the care that we couldn't since we were four hours away. We didn't feel comfortable but went forward with boarding them anyway. We would check the camera every chance we had and all seemed well after the first evening. After one day one of our dogs seemed to have loose stools, which seemed ok. We would check the camera and see that his butt was covered in feces which isn't a big deal. They wiped him down and sure enough we check the camera and again his butt was covered once more. I took it upon myself to make a phone call and that is when I was told that one of my dogs has very loose stool (which we already knew from the camera). My wife and I honestly expected a phone call since it seems our beloved pup was obviously nervous or even worse, sick. The next day we noticed our pup still had loose stools. This made my wife and I decide to cut our vacation short. How could we ever enjoy ourselves if our dog was obviously uncomfortable or sick. We came home the very next day which was one day early. We went straight to pick up our dogs. When we picked them up their butts were covered in stool. When we arrived at Camp Bow Wow we were informed that not only did one dog have loose stools but they both now had loose stools. My dogs have not had loose stools in ages but they both seemed sick. Not only did they both have loose stools but both were not eating properly. That's when my wife and I became upset. This is something the owners should know. We should have been informed. A simple phone call should do. Our dogs were not eating properly and the weather was 90 degrees and then some. Naturally this made us very upset. We were than informed that we would still be charged for another full nights stay. This made us even more upset since our dogs were obviously not comfortable being there. You would think they would have been courteous and waived the final night since our pups were so sick. However that was not the case. We paid and left and when we returned home we noticed that there was an excess amount of dog chow left over. As if they didn't eat for a full day. They were so thirsty they went straight for the water dish. They were so hungry they ate chow a few hours early. This was after we were told that our dogs weren't very good at eating chow. We will never bring our dogs to Camp Bow Wow ever again. We did not choose to complain in person since we knew they are stubborn there and it wouldn't do anything but anger us further. We are choosing to go on yelp so that the next person can understand their wrong doings. Do not take your pets here to be boarded. read more

I recently boarded my dog at this facility. While there, my dog was attacked & bit by another dog. There was no video of the attack nor am I allowed to view the incident report. All my elderly dog did was walk past another camper. The staff clearly was not paying attention to the offending dog's behavior & did not notice it's agitation & displeasure at being at camp. When I confronted the owner, I was told I should be glad to receive a portion of the vet bill. When I inquired about the remaining bill, I was offered 2 free nights of camp. Um, NO. This business was clearly negligent. They tour that the dogs are supervised. Clearly, that was not the case. Beware when boarding your dog here. Should anything happen, a complaint needs to be filled with the PA Dept of Agriculture. Camp Bow Wow is NEGLIGENT!!! read more

Used this facility this weekend for my families 4 dogs. We drove about 100 miles and when we arrived we had some confusion with paperwork, but the lady who helped check us in was very friendly helped us fix everything. This location is run by negligent owners and discriminatory practices. I paid that advance for 10days. My boxer came home with injuries two days straight (Friday and Monday)and no one could tell me when or how it happened. I got calls regularly about my dog requiring too much attention but when I would ask for examples they just told me they were too full and did not have the staff for him. When I told them first had been watching on the live feed all day and had not seen any interactions between him and staff or any trouble caused. They told me that they were not the ones present and were just reporting the message. They also refused to intervene and then retaliated by dismissing my dog out of the program and retroactively removed my discount because I would no longer be there for the full term. Needless to say I will not be returning to any camp bow wow. The dogs run around unsupervised all day with no structure. Managers make up complaints to discriminate against costumers. read more

Camp Bow Wow is a great Doggy Day Care option. I have never had any problems and my dog is always happy when he spends the day. He comes home tired from all the play throughout the day. The camper cams allow for me to see him while I am at work, and I love that. Ken knows every dog and owner by name, and does a great job. I have never used the over night boarding services, but I have seen the facilities and I have nothing but great things to say about it as well as the staff. read more

Millie runs into Camp Bow Wow ( doggie Disney) and does not look back. We do not even get a goodbye- much to our chagrin. The staff is attentive and friendly. It's quite easy to make a reservation and they are very accommodating. Millie always comes home exhausted from playing with her buddies and sadly for us not very excited to leave. We should mention that Millie is a 1.5 year old lab full of energy and extremely social who prefers the company of her furbuddies to her parents. read more

Ken and the team at Camp Bow Wow do a great job. Cody has been going for daycare and boarding for about 6 months now and he loves it. I will say he is a small dog so stays in the small dog yard, where he is much less likely to get into a fight in general! He occasionally picks up a cold or comes home with a stray flea (which is inevitable at ANY boarding facility where the dogs play together), but he has always been well cared for. The staff is very responsive to both emails and phone calls and are very easy to communicate with. The groomer also does a great job. Highly recommend Camp Bow Wow! read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. They will discriminate against your dog based on breed alone! I went to take a tour to possibly board my dogs and didn't even make it past reception the minute I said my dogs are pitbulls! It's a shame that a place that claims to love dogs would discriminate without ever meeting my sweet boys just simply because of their breed! I have unfortunately had a terrible experience using Camp Bow Wow for boarding. When I took my 2 small dogs for the interview, Ken (owner) seemed nice enough. I gave instructions at length, explaining that I would not be the one dropping off or picking up the dogs, so I wanted to be clear on the instructions. I had left the feeding section of the application blank because I thought it was only if there were any special requirements and I had none. So, when Ken asked me about feeding, I told him that their food was fine to be used and they didn't have any overeating issues, so they could have as much as they wanted. As I spoke, he was writing all of this down on the application so I assumed everything was clear. However, when I received my dogs back, I found out that they were starved for at least a 24 hour period! Apparently, my dogs were only fed the small amount of food they had come in with (prior to being dropped at CBW, my dogs were being cared for by someone else for 1 day and they left their belongings, including this small amount of food with the staff until pickup). So for 3 full days, my dogs were only give about 1 day's worth of food! I was horrified and probably way too nice about it when I called to make sure they were aware of the error so it never happened again with other dogs. I didn't hear from anyone right away, but a few days later I got a voicemail from Ken leaving his name and number but no message. Going 24 hours (or more) without food wouldn't be fair to any dog, but small dogs like mine in particular can have hypoglycemic issues. I am very thankful that my dogs are okay. The next day I received an email from him annoyed I hadn't returned his call (he hadn't asked me to) and basically saying it wasn't their fault since no feeding instructions were given the day of drop off. He stated that "feeding instructions or special requests need to be discussed or written down on the day of drop off as I cannot remember every discussion I have with all of our clients." This is the response I got after my dogs were STARVED, I told him at the interview (which was only 2 days prior to their boarding stay) I had no specials requests and also that I would not be dropping them off so the interview was my only opportunity to give instructions. If he misunderstood the dogs were supposed to eat special food and it ran out, why not call me to ask instead of starving them? He even accused me of not telling him one of my dogs was deaf, which of course I had mentioned (and she wears a tag around her neck to ensure others are aware). We even had a discussion about me being surprised to have found a dog like her in a shelter and that perhaps she'd been brought there because she was deaf. His email was so offensive that I will never use this service again. In fact, I notified CBW headquarters about his behavior and they stated they will contact him. Since that time (a month ago), I have not heard from anyone from CBW. A simple apology would have gone a long way. I really expected a profuse apology, perhaps a bag of food to replace the food I'd paid for, but not been given or a free day of daycare. I got nothing but a denial of responsibility and 2 very hungry dogs. Do not use this service! read more

this place should be shut down! they are not dog people nor dog lovers. our dog was a regular at camp. we inquired about overnight for vacation. guess what? there isn't anyone on premise overnight! our baby would have been stuck in a crate from closing time (around 6-7 p.m.) until the morning (6-7 a.m). that was it for us. unacceptable to think it is ok to crate a dog like that. it is clear they are only in it for money. most of the staff are barely qualified to care for our dogs. even while the cameras are on, the staff barely acknowledge the dogs. read more

If you love your dog, don't even consider this awful place. We scheduled our dog to stay there 3 nights. To do so we had to take her in for an interview, which we thought was a great policy. We figured all of the dogs have been interviewed and it had been confirmed that they get along with other dogs. They also have an app for your phone so you can watch the dogs play and check in on them. Fast forward to our trip. The dog was there for one night and in the morning we noticed we could not see her on the video. We tried to call and there was no answer. An hour later we get a call that our dog was attacked by another dog and she had a cut on her cheek and her ear was bleeding. The owner said not to worry it was small and they got the bleeding to stop. A half hour later he called back and said that they couldn't get the bleeding to stop so our emergency contact needed to come and pick her up and take her to the vet. I explained that wouldn't be possible and that they needed to take her. The owner got frustrated and said that it would have to be an emergency vet since they couldn't get an appointment elsewhere. He got more frustrated when I told him that it was entirely possible to find an appointment at a regular vet being that it was Friday morning. I asked him how this happened being that all of the dogs are interviewed. He explained that "because we are a franchise it is not policy to re-interview dogs even if they haven't been here in a long time". The dog that attacked ours had not been there in over 2 years. He also decided to slip in the comment that "you are going to have to pay the vet bill and I understand if you don't want to use our services anymore". So this guy is thinking about repeat business instead of trying to make things right. As I got more and more aggravated, this guy just kept trying to talk over me and wouldn't let me even ask a question without interruption. I finally had to tell him to shut his mouth and let me speak. After a heated conversation he finally agreed to comp the cost of the boarding but we would have to pay the difference in the vet bill. Miraculously he was able to find a vet in Allentown that would see the dog instead of going to an emergency vet. This only happened after I told him to put forth some effort to solve the problem. Our dog ended up having to be sedated and receive stitches in her ear, along with having to take medication. When we picked her up, she had lost a lot of weight and was definitely not herself. She also had more wounds then we were told about. She has 2 cuts in her ear that needed stiches, multiple cuts in her cheek, a cut on her shoulder and a cut on her front elbow. We still have to go to our vet and have the stitches removed next week. The owner didn't even have the decency to be present when we picked up our dog either. So, again if you love your dog, stay far, far away from this place. read more

Let me start by saying I have used Camp Bow Wow in another state and was pleased. Which was the main reason I had hoped to have our dog stay again. I didn't use the Allentown camp however, the only reason Ken (owner) was not very nice on the phone. He cut me off several times in mid sentence while I was asking questions. After speaking with Ken only for a short time over the phone gave me the impression he really didn't care about getting my business or not. I picked up such a negative feeling in his voice as to second guess leaving my baby in his care or staying with Camp Bow Wow / Allentown. I did read some of the reviews; interesting thing I found was several negative reviews all mentioned the difficult time they had with Ken. I feel leaving your pet with strangers is stressful enough even with good reviews, but having a bad feeling from the start is not something I would ever do and expect to get a good night's sleep. read more
