We visited this store on July 15, 2023. Our first time visiting a shop of this nature and what an experience it was. The Salesgirl was fantastic and so helpful at explaining the array of "toys" and other items available. She was very straightforward and comfortable explaining the products and what they were used for. She was very knowledgeable, professional and made the experience interesting and fun. I didn't even know how to hold some of the items we were looking at, much less what they were meant for. Let's just say I was schooled on our visit. We ended up buying some intense warming gel and a candle made with an oil based wax that once melted is poured on the body. Oh my gosh! My husband and I never laughed so hard. Backing up a little, We were visiting Carmel for our 33rd wedding anniversary get-a-way (July 14- 17, 2023) and drove over to Santa Cruz to hang out for the day. We were walking around this cute little town and walked by this store while window shopping. Something in the window caught my eye so we went in. I can't remember what it was that made me stop, maybe a cute piece of lingerie- I don't recall but we went in thinking it was a little lingerie shop. We didn't realize that in the very back of the store was a sex toy shop. We we're definitely intrigued and thought "Oh well, we are here, let's just look around." After seeing all of the "toys" and mentally picturing us going through airport security with some of these crazy sex contraptions, we decided on the intense hoo-ha warming gel and a wonderfully scented candle made of essential oils that once melted is poured and rubbed on the body. The candle even had a cute little built-in spout for easy pouring. We get back to the resort, it is very late and we don't have freaking matches for the candle. (I recommend giving a little pack of matches with candle purchase) My husband finally scrounges around the hotel lobby for some matches and comes back an hour later. We light the candle and realize it's gonna take awhile for this candle to melt. So we prep. Start by having a gummy snack. Shower. change into silky outfits, eat a few more gummies (another purchase for our special anniversary weekend) and kill time by reading the many brochures collected from the day. I check the candle (still melting) so decide it's time to open the intense warming gel - there's a pamphlet involved. Had to Google "where's the vulva". because the intense warming gel (according to the pamphlet) is for the vulva and even though we are middle-aged adults, happily married for 33 years, neither one of us are cognitive enough in this moment to the precise location of the vulva or who has it. That lead us down a rabbit hole of sorts. Finally the gummies were in full swing, the room was spinning, we found the vulva, and alas! the candle was nice and melted... Now, I had envisioned from the moment that we bought the candle that it would be me pouring it on him, he thought the opposite so now argued about who gets to pour the candle on who. Since I'm apparently the one with the vulva, I decided it would be me who got to be the pourer. I tried to be sexy about it- all sultry like, slowly pouring the melted candle oil on his hairy chest. (The sales lady never said how much ) - so I poured it all on him. let me just say, it's hot apparently, and a little goes a LONG WAY. It was very oily at first and quite delicious feeling. The warmth of the oil mixed with the warmth of skin to skin contact was a really nice feeling. (Sorry to my daughter who follows me on Yelp) The lights were off so I couldn't see. After awhile my husband was getting agitated and not in a sexy way. I eventually turned on the lights and forming right in front of my eyes was Pegasus. The mythical greek statue. He was sticking to the sheets like he'd been double-dipped in a vat of Krispy crème donut glaze. His hair was all matted up. His fingers stuck together from trying to rub it in. He was encrusted in dried candle wax. A shrine of the man I married. I started laughing so hard then we both couldn't stop laughing. I absolutely and highly recommend purchasing a bottle of intense warming gel, some gummies and an essential oil candle to anyone needing to enhance or revive sexy time with your significant other. I'd post pictures but I'd probably get banned from Yelp. read more

Totally disappointing and cheap. Mostly plastic made in China stuff. The 2 college students working here were pretty clueless and unhelpful when I was asking about specific items. The seemed completely uninterested in my business. I wouldn't waste your time or money here. read more

When I was UCSC Camouflage came up to campus around Valentines Day to give us the best Sex Ed talk you definitely won't hear in high school. They brought all kinds of toys and lubes for people to learn about. They taught us all about the locally owned store and why sexual education is important and they really knew what they were talking about and made it fun to learn! Walking into their downtown shop you will be greeted with the same friendly fun attitudes and will receive the same help all you have to do is ask! They're always willing to help out and honestly you can get a few pointers from them that will change your life. People also love this place around Halloween when they have the cutest outfits! read more

Person in the front was very nice, person in the back was not. Didn't say hello and asked for our ID's and didn't offer any help, ignored us and scoffed when I asked how to use one of the items, and then was very welcoming to another couple who walked in. I believe it was because me and my partner are two trans masculine people and the other couple was a cis straight couple. Just beware if you are queer and come to this store, the employees may or may not help you based on your appearance. read more

This is a locally owned hanky panky store with a surprisingly good selection of fashion items in the front. Parking is street only which means that you'll be parking in one of the garages or surface lots scattered around a block or so in any direction, or in very lucky cases in the mostly impossible to get street spots, perhaps around the corner. On the odd chance that you find one of those spots open, go buy a lottery ticket immediately before the luck runs out. Logically the store is essentially divided into two sections. The front section of the store is focused on clothing, and the items nearest the entrance in spite of what the window display would have you believe are not slinky at all. If you need a dress with pockets, that's the place to find them. Ditto if you need something fashionable and are not a size zero model. As you wend your way more inside the items will get slinkier , starting with costumes/cosplay stuff, then lingerie/stockings and eventually getting into fetish wear. There is a bargain rack right before you get to the entrance of the back room which is where the adult stuff is. The bargain rack offers tremendous discounts-50-70 percent-and can consist of unexpected items like steampunk glasses and harry potter wands. The very adult back room basically has two types of stock-novelty and um, non novelty hanky panky spanky. The hanky panky stuff is high quality, fairly diverse, and typically on the higher end of the price range. The novelty stock is the kind of junk you'll see at college parties-phallic party favors galore, and is fairly inexpensive if you are throwing the type of party which needs genital shaped ice cubes. I'm told it's popular with bachelorette parties and tailhook conventions. Whether the pricing is worth it or not would be totally up to the buyer, you. This is actually a strong costuming and fashion shop (at least in the front), assuming you are emotionally flexible enough to get over the always salacious window display, and is considered a very friendly place for non binary folk. read more

Camouflage - December sale - Lingerie Near Me - Santa Cruz, California

The. Best. Sex. Shop. Camouflage never disappoints and has consistently exceeded my expectations for over 4 years. During this shelter-in-place situation Camouflage has become my is my favorite afternoon pastime. Yesterday, I took my boyfriend there for the first time and we had so much fun together. Our sales associate, Mia, (who's worked there for 3yrs, btw) was super helpful throughout our shopping experience with her breadth of product knowledge and upbeat attitude. I learned something new from her and left with something new for myself. Also, I love the fact that you can literally feel the different personal lubricants because that is a way better purchasing experience than blindly adding to cart from Amazon, or another retailer. read more

Came here with a friend because she was embarrassed to go alone. She didn't know what to get for her friend so she asked the staff and they gladly helped us. The place is pretty funny and the viewing experience of the stuff was hilarious as I have never seen or even shopped for things like this before. Overall, great experience! (Finishing this draft that I started in 2017, I don't know how it is now but this pertains to the time I went back then) read more

This place is a gem! Having relocated to the area earlier this year, I wanted to find a lingerie boutique that carried comfortable, everyday bras as well as the sexy, fun & empowering choices. And in a price range I could afford. This spot has all that! And more!! If you're looking for kinky adventures, something to spice up an evening or a little surprise for that special someone then this is the place for you. I highly recommend any of the employees that work here, as they carry a lot of knowledge, want to help you & don't make a commission off sales. But I need to give a huge shout out to Megan - she sized me into 2 quality corsets, showed my partner a quick tutorial on lacing me up, sent me home with self-lacing instructions and found me great fitting bras. She even pulled items off the sale rack to show me. They also carried an awesome selection of Halloween costumes! Be sure to check out the sales section every time you stop in. You're gonna love this place! read more

***************************** 1389 *************************** Camouflage is exactly what the store is all about. It has a front store with EDC clubbing clothes, costumes, but in the back is all about the fun stuff downtown Santa Cruz. Camouflage offers a variety of sex toys, lubes, gels, & accessories. The back room is clean, well organized and a wonderful staff Leoni. She was quite helpful and beautiful. I'll definitely come back for more fun soon. What a tragic thing to occur in this tight-knit community. If you haven't heard the news yet, the owner of Camouflage, Shannon Collins was attacked and murdered on Monday, May 7, 2012, while walking along Ocean and Broadway in broad daylight. http://www.santacruzsentinel.com/localnews/ci_20573683/suspect-identified-fatal-stabbing-santa-cruz?source=pkg No one's life deserves to be ended so terribly. No husband must go through the pain and suffering. No family, friends, or community should have to feel scared, helpless, or powerless. In honor of Shannon, the store continues to be open. This is still one of my favorite local businesses in the downtown area. May Shannon rest in peace in a heaven filled with lace, feathers, and fishnets. read more

My review writing has been resurrected and SO HAVE MY BREASTS! Thank you, Adrian, for making me feel sexy & supported once again! "Look at that dress! Can we go in?" says the 15 year old I'm walking down the sidewalk with. To which I reply "In to a Sex Shop? with a 15 yr old? SURE, why not!" The last time I went into Camouflage it was to find some slutty tights for Halloween. You know... THE PERFECT way to finish off those Sexy Nurse or Bee costumes I wore back in my 20s. ha! Here we were though and my entire idea of this store was about to change. The front section was full of fashion forward dresses for Spring & Summer. There were all kinds of fabrics and all the designs were flattering, bouncy, and feminine. While Megan was choosing some dresses to try on Adrian saw an opportunity peeking out from the edge of my bra. Yes, the bra that I have been clinging to even though it is CLEARLY too small for me. I hate bra shopping more than I hate jeans shopping. Adrian casually offered to measure me and help me find a great supportive fit for my LADIES. Dressing Room THEME SONG: At first I was afraid... I was petrified... Kept thinking I could never wear a bra without my breasts over the sides... But then I let Adrian in and she measured my boobies.. and now I'm servin up my breasts in lace to the man whose lovin ME! Go on now GO... Walk in the DOOR! Get down to Camouflage - it's for your breasts - enjoy the show! Ok, but seriously... We had such a great time with Adrian and my fear of bra shopping is no more. Megan even found an AMAZING dress she can work all kinds of looks with. I highly recommend giving YOUR ladies a special time here at Camouflage. I know it certainly changed MY perspective on SEXY and made the world a happier place for my breasts as well. read more

Literally had $400 worth of sex toys ready to purchase. None of their credit card terminals worked. The staff were extremely apologetic, saying that they complain to owners all the time that the system sucks - we tried half a dozen times. It BTW, wasn't "declined" - it just wouldn't process. This is rinky-dink stuff in 2021. The guy selling gourds at the farmers market takes credit cards with a dongle on his phone. Do better. Can't recommend going back as we spent quite a bit of time picking things out only to be unable to check out... that's so bad. read more

I was drawn in by the RAINBOW display in the window. The colors drew me in, but the stockings, the dresses and ultimately the toys in the back kept my attention. The selection was fantastic! It certainly wasn't what I was expecting to find in the shopping district of Santa Cruz. I was able to get a Rainbow boa and rhumba panties that fit beautifully! My Cotton Candy Clown costume is now complete! Happy Pride, Camoflauge! read more

Fun store. Definitely a store for everyone to spice things up. I had a short visit. I was at an awesome candy store across the way when I was headed back to the car and saw this store. Camouflage - Pasties and tassels - Lingerie Near Me - Santa Cruz, California

HeHe...My daughter and I slipped in with 11 minutes left on our meter (paid for it didn't want to waste it). Fun stuff, loved the animal head wear. ;-). Also check out the back room if your in the market for a vibrator, because the have a cornucopia of a selection. I'll keep this place in mind if I decide I want to dress up as a slutty french maid for my husband some day, though they had many other sexy corset bra thingies. Oh and they had a penis cupcake pan perfect for bachelorette parties, what better way to spice up one of those drab events. ;-) read more

VERY attentive workers--especially the female worker with dreadlocks. I am always welcomed when I walk into the store and asked if I need anything specific. The workers are very knowledgable about their products, uses, and the human body overall (referring to the worker with dreadlocks again). The customer service is almost scary at times, I feel like I should just buy something because of how much effort they're using. (Support local!) The clothing is a little on the more expensive side, same with their books and random food items/novelty stuff. Their products in the back room are comparable with the other stores I've been to. I've never been carded in this store. read more

Super disappointing. I've spent well over $1000 a year at this store for the past couple of years and recently tried to exchange an outfit that was BOXED, SEALED and only purchased the day before. The products were literally still in the original packaging THEY wrapped it in and I was told I couldn't exchange or get store credit. The return policy in this store is a complete scam. You should clearly tell guests upon check out that all items are final sale. I will definitely not be shopping here again. Terrible customer service and you're better buying online or from somewhere that actually cares about more than your money. read more

I've been coming here for years for cool bra and panties, steam punk outfits for Dickens Faire, things for Renaissance Faire and even a gorgeous 20s beaded dress for a corporate function. Not only was I a customer here for years but I was also am employee for a short time. This place is as good as it gets! The best products with the best employees. A lot of training goes into working here, and trust me these girls are not motivated by the "big sale" they really care about each customer getting the best product for they desire. They keep a variety of price ranges of products and they always keep and ear open for new and exciting products, remember to check out the amazing selection of book in the back including amazing art books like Olivia or pin up books ps... I think some of the other reviewers did not realize there is a back room, so remember folks the fun stuff is in the BACK room :) read more

Came in here from sheer curiosity about the festival/club/lingerie-clad display mannequins in the window but was pleasantly surprised by the varied specialty fit lingerie (specifically bras). I have to say that while I didn't purchase anything here, I was very impressed by the bra size range and helpfulness of the staff. It's always nice to be able to try things on in store when you're so used to buying lingerie online and being disappointed by fit, construction, etc like I am! Very nice to see mid-range priced bras like Gossard's alongside higher end ones like Marlies Dekker, brands i rarely get to try on in-store due to lack of availability. There were two specific styles I've had my eye on for awhile and if I lived in Santa Cruz i most certainly would have special ordered through Camouflage! read more

Horrible customer service. I was improperly issued a refund which I wasn't able to receive, a check issued to an address where I no longer lived with no forwarding address. I requested a refund via etransfer and was given the runaround for over 4 days. I had been a customer since the shop was on West Pender and had spent good money over the years. I have yet to resolve this issue and basically consider my money stolen at this. Disgraceful at best. read more

The halloween costumes here are the sexiest! Super sexy, but never sleazy. The staff is super helpful and professional. Maybe a tad too in your face at times, but I'd take an overly attentive sex shop employee over a creepy sex shop worker anyday. We came in looking for a harness that would be more comfortable for us, and the young lady took out and showed us atleast 5 or 6 different options for us to feel and look at. All the vibrators and cock rings are out on display for your buzzing enjoyment which definitely helps making decisions a lot easier. Anything as private and intimate as a sex toy, should never be purchased with doubt, and the Camouflage staff definitely keeps this in mind. read more

Camoflage is really two stores. In front is an excellently stocked lingerie store. They have a really excellent selection of styles and sizes, with nice sexy outer wear as well. The staff for the front are all extremely helpful and polite, and not trying to push a sale and shove you out the door. The prices are quite fair, and there are plenty of accessories to finish out your outfit. The rear of the store is the best part IMHO, with a nice wide selection of toys and other products. Everything from old classics to the latest high tech erotic accessories. The staff here is very knowledgable, and quite helpful in making sure you get exactly what you are looking for. They have a great selection of Lelo products, which are some of the finest obtainable. They also have a very nice selection of BDSM and leather gear, all at very reasonable prices. If you want to add a little kick to your romantic life, or to add a little kink to your sexy time, this is the place to go! read more

This is the place to go if you're feeling a little naughty. Sexy, frilly things to tempt, tantalize and excite. I have had so many awkward moments in this store. One time I was in the back room with one of my best friends (we are both guys btw) and we were shopping for a large phallic toy for one of our friends (who was a girl) whose birthday was coming up. Anyway the workers thought we were gay and tried to explain to us how we might want to start with something smaller and maybe get some lube for men and we kind of just left..... And another time I was in there just looking around and I picked up a whip and some handcuffs and some people walked by and were like, "yea those are good choices" .....creepy.... And finally walking in and having to look for a rabbit because my gf says its the "best thing ever" and she wanted to know if they had any so she could get one for her best friend's birthday present (or something like that). I asked about it and the store clerks (girls) seemed kinda confused why I wanted to use one but then they also were raving about how wonderful it was and pointed me in the right way.... okay people I am kinda conservative, but I am getting ever less so as days go by. guess this is not the store to be conservative in, or take your parents to (they asked what it was once when walking by and I think i told them it was a costume shop) but all in all I think it is a fun place with great variety and I can not complain one bit at the potential wardrobe additions I can gift to my gal.. read more

If you're looking for a stress free, sensitive, tasteful place to do your lingerie or holiday shopping....take your hard earned cash elsewhere. I hadn't come in in a long time but the window display was so cute, my girlfriend and I decided to check it out. While we were browsing, one of the managers came in and, without acknowledging either of us existed, proceeded to gush about how a new dress she bought made her look "SO Asian." This girl is Caucasian and about a head shorter than me. I just listened, awkwardly, mouth agape, as this woman engaged her co-worker for a solid five minutes about how this new purchase makes her look "like an Asian frat boy." My partner (who actually IS Asian) and I were so uncomfortable about this blatantly racist display, we had to leave. Their employees are on commission and it shows. Specifically, the manager I mentioned- the one with the blond dreads- is notorious for being pushy at absolute best, stealing sales from her fellow associates in a really obvious and petty way. This has been reported to her supervisor and in store reviews repeatedly and yet they keep her around- I don't know why. Y'all, this person is BAD, and her shenanigans are driving out plenty of folks like me (I've spent hundreds of dollars there, and was considering buying an expensive silk bra before the manager lady came in - after what happened, I left without buying anything.) Because of my bad experiences, it's been close to a year since I actually bought anything here. Plus, the merchandising is so poor, they can't even sell items that fly off the shelves at nearby shops. They have complete size runs of Andrew Christian relegated to the clearance section, while a TINY array of choices sits sadly tucked away in between the plus size section and the back. Sad. read more
