My husband is infatuated with the Grohmann Knife Factory in Pictou. The office/factory sells every…read morekind of knife from hunting knives and kitchen knives to scuba-diving knives. What we enjoy most about the store is that it is a small, family owned business, and all their knives are made right here in Nova Scotia. The office/factory is a two-storey building with one big show room downstairs where all the knives are sold, and a factory upstairs where the knives are made. The knives are very reasonably priced (e.g., $30 for a hunting knife) and the store also offers a selection of "seconds knives" which are slightly imperfected knives sold at a significantly reduced cost.

Grohmann customer support Cynthia, Darlene and Adrienne keep refusing to refund my money because they don't want to call Canada Post to sort it out. Most likely Canada Post lost the parcel. The sender should sort it out and refund the money. There is plenty of incompetence, indolence and neglect in this company in Nova Scotia. They don't answer the phones, the e-mails, they never call back. Mr Grohmann is spinning in his grave with such successors.

Had such a wonderful experience shopping at Elegant Steps!…read more Not simply because of the absolutely gorgeous heels Nancy and Kaitlyn helped me find--which were not only stunning, but ridiculously comfortable AND half off!! Like, what?! --but because of the undoubtedly amazing service from both of them. Seriously, they went above and beyond. From the moment we walked in, they were kind, welcoming, and wholeheartedly down-to-earth, good people. It didn't take long for us to find the perfect shoes that truly worked with the dress I was planning on wearing to a wedding the very next day. I had actually brought the dress with me to the store, and they suggested I put it on while we hunted down the right shoes to go with it. Even with the heels, the dress was still too long, so Nancy had me stand in front of the mirrors at the back of the store and actually pinned my dress up for me to my desired length. She then walked me through how to use the double-sided tape I had bought from another store just minutes up the road, where they had suggested it as a temporary fix for the predicament I was having. Nancy and Kaitlyn even went a step further and suggested different styles of jewellery and other little touches I could add to make everything pop and work together in harmony with the heels and dress--while also taking into consideration that I wanted everything to work with the necklace I was already wearing, which contains my dad's ashes. Turns out there was a jeweller right next door, and Kaitlyn actually went over and got a sales associate to come help us find jewellery that would complement my existing outfit. They came back with some pretty amazing suggestions, and I'm happy to say I left with a pair of absolutely stunning earrings that not only worked beautifully with my outfit for the wedding, but are something I could honestly wear on an everyday basis. Although it might be hard to recognize from the outside looking in, I'm truly not the type of person who actually enjoys going out shopping. ‍ But they made the entire experience enjoyable from the moment I walked in. I'm just a regular Joe, but that day I was treated like a princess. A princess having extreme hot flashes, mind you--but a princess nonetheless. I would highly recommend this adorable shop to literally anyone looking for elegant products sold by people who genuinely care about the experience you have while you're there. You leave Elegant Steps not only feeling good about your purchase, but feeling good about yourself as well.

Their random bins are full of many broken items and it seems very disorganized. At times you can find gems but you have to look hard! The staff are so nice and that's what makes the place worth shopping at. The prices are set and they don't overcharge like most Frenchy stores. I have been going to this store since the new owner ship took over, and I loved it. It was always so bright and clean, and the staff was so amazing. The Manager (Tracie might have been her name??) was so kind and friendly, and I loved the regular day time cashier, Lana Banana! As well as all the other girls out back! I always found at least $50.00 worth of amazing quality clothes! I moved out West about a year and a half ago, and I just recently moved back. I will never go back. The store was a mess, it was dark and dreery looking, and the staff was AWFUL. I asked the cashier about the manager, and she said she never knew her? She quit like a year ago!?She was the greatest. I didn't recognize any of the girls doing the clothing drops, and they were all very standoffish and negative. AND THE CLOTHES. The clothes were terrible. The bins were over flowing, half of the clothes that were hanging up where on the floor, the sizes where a mess, and there was no organization what so ever. The quality was something out of a nightmare. I tried on 6 shirts, 4 of them had very visible stains, and one of them was ripped! The kids clothes were even worse. It was so disappointing. I had never felt so dirty in that store before. Guys was my go-to place, but I will not be back.
