Overpriced like most convenience stores, but inconvenient unlike most convenient stores; the most inconvenient convenience store in Buffalo. Went to the store a few times to purchase a pint of frozen dessert or ice cream. After my purchase, I would usually use the store microwave oven to soften the dessert a bit before eating and ask for a spoon without a problem.
On my last visit, I purchased a frozen entree purchased at a Rochester-based supermarket chain and brought the item into the store. To support the locally owned and operated store I spent approximately two dollars more at the supermarket at the "We Never Close" store as a courtesy so I could conveniently cook my entree and later defrost the pint of frozen dessert purchased at the store.
My decision was apparently met with disapproval of the cashier tending the counter. After removing the entree prematurely from the oven, I then politely asked for a spoon to use for the two items like I often done in the past without a problem. Unlike the past, she refused to accommodate me the utensil needed. Stunned, I didn't see the point of spending extra money as it had inconvenienced me and demanded a refund in exchange for the unopened and sealed pint I recently owned in my possession.
"Give me my fucking money back," I demanded as I slammed the pint of frozen dessert on the counter with moderate force, inverting the bottom rim of the container slightly.
Then, from seemingly out of the blue, an unmasked man with a downstate Long- Islander accent concurred I was not going to receive a refund and proceeded grab me by the arms and shove me out the door. Outside the door, I persisted I would stand by the door until I got my money back in exchange for the pint owned in my possession.
I told the man he had no right to grab and that if he had a problem, he should call the police. "If the police say I have to go, then I really have to go" I told the man with the cashier behind the counter. I mentioned that out of respect to their business spent more than I would spend at the store I purchased the other item, and for the very first time, they would not give me a plastic spoon or allow me to use the store microwave oven.
At one point I was able to place the pint through the opening of the door on a shelf inside. At this time, they had possession of my property yet refused to compensate me.
I mentioned there were cameras that recorded the incident, but he mentioned the security cameras were inoperable. The cashier stated that whatever the presumed owner said of the incident, she would go along with it be because there was no proof he grabbed and shoved me.
After demanding many times that I get a refund, they finally gave in and gave me the money on cash. The man and/or presumed owner never excepted responsibility for grabbing and pushing me. read more
