Stopped by here on a tour to the Grand Canyon. In the dining room, which is 'through the gift shop,' ordered the Navajo Taco, a taco on top of the famous fry bread I had been hearing about. It was huge, but there was no 1/2 portion or smaller portion available. Not that it was expensive, but rather that the portion was giant, and I had no way to preserve any leftovers. Everyone at my table left a ton of food wasted on our plates. The fry bread was tasty, and I love eating the taco this way, with a fork and knife. We sat at round tables that seated four, in a giant dining room (that resembled a living room to me), with paintings everywhere and windows that looked out over rocks and canyons. The waitress was nice. The gift shop seemed twice as large as the dining area. It was kind of overwhelming, with plenty of products that were NOT made by Native Americans, but made in other countries. You have to look carefully to find locally made items. I ended up purchasing small, locally-made dreamcatchers for my kids, some cool rocks from South America, and a handful of other items that fit my budget. I tried to get a practical item here, but they did not carry dramamine. If there were signs telling me what to bring to the Grand Canyon (motion sickness medicine, carbonated water, extra water, etc), I would have probably purchased something like this here; just an idea. Restrooms were clean; thank you, as this is a popular pit stop for tourists on a Canyon trip. read more

This place was awesome! The hotel was clean, the trading post had a lot of cool things. The staff was so friendly! But the food was out of this world. We ate 3 different meals here. You must try the fry bread or get it with a meal, it's out of this world. My husband loved the chili and the Navajo taco. I had the breakfast burrito and the Navajo beef, so delicious. We've passed this place for years on the way to Lake Powell. Every time we pass we see a picture of a Navajo taco on a billboard advertising this place. A few years ago we had some extra time, so decided to stop and try one. Ever since then we were hooked. We normally get the Navajo taco, but the beef stew is also very good. And a prickly pear milkshake is a must try. Food has been consistently good, the place is clean and the people are very nice. read more

Great pit stop for food, art, and shopping! Came here for an early dinner and by 6 pm, the place was packed! The dining hall is magnificent; it's large and full of artwork and cultural pieces. You definitely should get something with fry bread--I think the Navajo Taco is what most people gravitate towards, which is delicious, but I thought the hidden gem was the Navajo Hot Beef. It's slathered with a savory beef gravy that soaks into the fry bread, but miraculously just enough to capture the flavor, but not get soggy. I also tried some of the Navajo Beef Stew, which was hearty and delicious, and served with a side of fry bread. This place is cool because it was built long ago and it's like eating in a piece of history. I did not like the food here I got their special the taco with Indian fry bread, which was too heavy and the meat inside was too sweet. Just not my thing. The service was OK, not great. Do stop here if you are passing by, well worth your time. I've stopped several times, but finally ate at the restaurant. The dining room is huge. They seem to limit how many people are seated, as the room seemed quite sparse when we left but there was a long waiting line. The menu has it all from classic favorites to Native American specialties. You will find something that trips your trigger. We all went with items from the Dine specialties, and I had the fry bread. Stopped here for lunch before entering the Grand Canyon. We got seated just before the huge tourist buses and vans arrived. I didn't love my corned beef hash. The corned beef was cubed and potatoes were underdone. I tasted the fry bread which was delicious. Be prepared that the fry bread is the size of a dinner plate! If you're leaving the Grand Canyon from the east gate, this is a nice stop for a sit down meal, some shopping, and a bathroom break. When you hit Hwy 89, head north and it will be a mile or two north, on your left side. Parking in their lot seems to be quiet abundant and wasn't an issue for us. My husband ordered fries and chips with guacamole to start. These we could have done without, they were mediocre. We also shared two Navajo Tacos between three of us - and had quiet a bit left over. The Navajo Taco is worth trying, with a fried savory bread on the bottom instead of what you're used to. It's not the fanciest of foods, but my husband and son enjoyed it and it's at a decent price point given the volume of food that you get. The restaurant claims to be fine dining, but the experience says otherwise. Staff were loudly using walkie-talkies within earshot of customers. A waitress even announced over the walkie-talkie that we needed to return to the table to pay -- which had already been cleared. Even the busser was ready for us to leave. Along with typical lunch options they offer some authentic Navajo dishes. Definitely choose a Navajo dish. I tried the Navajo Taco. The taco is made on a large round piece of bread called frybread. Frybread is fried (surprise) and it is served with most Navajo meals. The Navajo taco is like a tostada. Ground meat, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and salsa are stacked to top. This place has a ton of interesting gifts and small items perfect for souvenir shopping. Price is also reasonable. The restaurant here is very well decorated. We had beef stew and Navajo tacos. I was looking forward to the tacos but the beef stew was better. The tacos had a ton of beans in there and I'm just not a big fan of beans therefore don't care for that. We drove there after watching the sunrise in the grandcanyon so we can only have the breafast menu. The Cameron Grand Canyon dining room is a generous expanse dominated by its large stone fireplace flanked by tall picture windows. The vast ceiling of pressed tin presides over diners as they enjoy their meals and the view of the Little Colorado River Gorge. Native American weavings, basketry, carvings, and Southwestern art are displayed along the walls between the antique cabinetry and stained glass that once served as an apothecary nearly a century ago.  The food there has a great amount so you can share with your partner. This was an unexpected surprise. While driving to the Grand Canyon, I had planned to stop here for a brief visit and when I arrived wish it would have been longer. I was pressed for time unfortunately so I only stayed for a brief 10 minutes. This retail store is large that includes a motel and restaurant. They have a lot of souvenir and Native America artifacts to sell. The restaurant looked to be nice and I wish I could have eaten a meal there. I was also impressed with their adherence to Covid 19 protocols including mask wearing. Definitely a place worth your time to visit if passing through. read more

If you are in the area, food options are limited. The dinning in this post has good options for both lunch and dinner. Most of the entries are available only for dinner (after 4:00pm, reservation time). The food is well portioned, and fairly good price for the area, you can find lunch options anywhere between ~$10-&17. The place it self has a good charm, they have a shop and market in the front side, good for last minute gift shopping and groceries. My husband and I shared a fry bread taco. We thought it was really missing spice, pretty bland. The fry bread gave it some welcome flavor but at an Indian inspired restaurant you would expect at least a salsa on the side. We had to take our order to go and eat in the car because we have a dog and they aren't allowed, so perhaps in restaurant dining would have better options. The gift shop was very impressive, but our meal felt like an Indian Taco Time experience, minus any distinguishing spice. What a perfect combination of anything and everything that a traveler may need all in one place, perched on the cliffs overlooking the Little Colorado River! And what a blessing for these two road weary Love Birds, hungry and tired and in need of a fill up of petrol. The Trading Post is quite literally in the middle of nowhere and perfectly located just a bit outside Grand Canyon Park. To get to the restaurant, you must enter through the super gigantic gift shop, thousands and thousands of collectible chachkis as well as a large assortment of high quality Native American arts, crafts, jewelry and textiles, all very reasonably priced. We were seated immediately upon entering the restaurant, drink order was taken within 3 minutes of being seated. The entire dining room ceiling is decorative pressed steal paneling, very cool vintage effect. She had the bacon cheeseburger with fries, Burger and fries were good, fry sauce is a little spicy, was good. He had the lamb sandwich, served with roasted poblano pepper and half ear of corn, seared open faced on Indian fry bread. (This dish is actually poorly rated by others here on Yelp, but I love lamb so I decided to ignore the bad reviews and give it a shot) my Lamb was dry, overcooked and honestly did not taste like lamb, more like flank steak. Corn was not good, tasted like dirt(1 bite and done), pepper was very good(added some moisture to the dry meat). My high hopes for the Frybread were unfortunately dashed, as mine was undercooked and doughy all around the edges. I picked it apart and ate what was cooked through. We were so thrilled to be able to also get a room with a view for the night after dinner. Very large room, quaint western decor, not rustic but western, huge covered balcony overlooking the River. Quite a view! Room was clean and well maintained. We could not be happier to have stopped here for the evening. And would recommend the restaurant, Hotel and gift shop as worth the stop. read more

We had a good time here, shopping, laughing, eating, and running after killer sunsets. It's a large trading post with everything from souvenirs and jewelry to home decor and groceries. Came to this place for the first time 12 to 14 years ago. The service was great then the service is great now the food is wonderful. There's no place else in Cameron to stop can't say enough good things for the hospitality that you get you were welcome when we came through the front door.. my husband and I are going to share Navajo taco with all the fixings. I didn't see elevator anywhere for second and third floors but great views from their canyon-side balconies. Very clean but we didn't find the beds very comfortable. The restaurant features handmade items for sale; they are on display throughout the restaurant's dining room. The Navajo taco was delicious; this is not found elsewhere outside of traveling pow-wow exhibitions, so please try the Navajo taco! The fry bread was cooked wonderfully, and I could not have enough. My husband was happy with his chilaquiles (but I say go for the fry bread Navajo taco instead!) The souvenir shop seems pricey for some items, but there is something for everyone. If you skip the souvenirs, you may not get another opportunity (the Native American craft and souvenir stalls along the highway were mostly not open the morning of our drive.) Gas is cheap, and the restroom is in the trading post/restaurant, just outside of the restaurant entrance. Stop here for a bit of history and good food. read more

Finally stopped here for the first time in April 2024 after passing it on several past road trips just to get a sense of the place. I was not hungry, but noticed there was a fairly long wait for the restaurant, The store is huge, with all types of indigenous Arts- handmade heirloom quality to plastic trinkets. Also a large selection of beverages and snacks to go. I am a knitter, and was delighted to find a large colorful selection of Brown Sheep yarn, spun from AZ sheep in North Dakota. We are spending the night in the hotel and also had dinner in the restaurant and all I can say is AMAZING! Check in was quick and easy, our hotel room is very large and incredibly clean with very comfortable beds. Everything about this place has been wonderful. Every staff person we met has been extremely friendly, one woman even took the time to teach us some of the Navajo language. The food in the restaurant was superb. I had the Navajo beef stew with fry bread, and my husband had the Navajo burger. Serving portions are huge and everything came out quickly. We also got the fresh guacamole, which was delicious. I can't say enough good things about this place. It's definitely a destination worth the time and effort to get here. The gift shop is very extensive and the prices are quite reasonable. The atmosphere is great since it has been here since 1916. Service was fine, the food is just fair at best. The beef stew had little beef broth flavor, had a layer of oil on top and the 'choice beef cubes' looked like they had been hacked up and overcooked. The Navajo Taco - fry bread was good but very greasy, taco meat had zero flavor. It was disappointing. My girlfriend makes fry bread tacos and they are much better. The burger was fine, again greasy bread and we are 'grease' fans. Sad, we came 40 minutes out of our way and not worth the hype. read more

This is a very good stop to refresh for a drive between Page and Grand Canyon or Williams and also a good place to go back to navajo cuisine roots. We tasted some authentic dishes such as fry bread with beans and prickly pear marinated chicken wings. The service was really great. I think the food can be improved. The prickly pear wings were extremely sour and the navajo taco was lackluster. None of the dishes had an oomph factor. But I do give it stars for trying to be authentic. No trip is to Northern Arizona is complete without stopping at the Cameron Trading Post. The native American art is a wonder to behold and it is hard for me not to want to purchase several of the amazing one of a kind items. Navajo rugs woven by hand by real people are my particular favorite. There is also Native American pottery and baskets as well. I was a bit surprised with all the cheap "Made in China" stuff that I saw on my trip this time. What has the world become -- Cameron Trading Post seems to have succumbed to globalism -Sad. Oh well, get over it, and get past the cheap tourist crap and go for the real native American Indian items. Even if you can't afford it, its like a trip to the museum. While I did not eat in the restaurant this time, I always remember the satisfaction of the Navajo Tacos made here. COVID. Cameron Trading Post just reopened on 8/17/20 after being shuttered for months. We enjoyed our time at this spot. Nice to support this Native American business. We found the food to be uniformly good, and in some cases Excellent. We started with a trio of appetitzers, and the wings were suprisingly good, as were the potato skins. We also really enjoyed the bacon-wrapped Jalepenos. For meals, we mostly had the Navajo Taco, but also had a burger. We love these types of tacos and it didn't disappoint. We were seated within 10 minutes but after that service was slow. 2 Tour buses came in, which seemed to take priority. What a place. Fun walking though the trading post, but then the restaurant has a great view and food was really good. Wife and I both had some great salsa and chips then ordered a Navajo taco for each of us...only got through 1/2 each. Fry bread is amazing and the taco is great, just SO much food.
