Took my old FE-2 Nikon for repair since the light meter didn't work. It was fixed in 2 days perfectly. I will try this place again.

Doing this place on a whim when I was on my way to a work trip and figured why not check it out…read more The store is a tad off from downtown but this place is a OG users fever dream. Not only is it big but it had a rather famous wall of admittedly broken cameras that I regardless wanted to grab, printing gear, old tripods, manuals and parts bins, a whole half of the store dedicated to film cameras and their lenses as well as a nice dslr and mirrorless set up with their associated gear and point and shoots. I literally prolly looked like a crackhead as I bounced off the walls tripping out seeing stuff I had only ever seen in museums, or YouTube. While I didn't find the camera I came there for I found one of my grails a Oskar Barnac Leica iii. The camera has seen better days yah but for the insane price drop of a slight hazed summicron lens and the tested in front of me body I couldn't say no (432). Bernie, the guy who helped me went above and beyond showing me their whole collection of rangefinders and classic medium formats I was fawning over and made sure I was straight when it comes to practice and handling of something almost a 100 years old. There's something special about a bulletproof camera that's probably seen some form of action that screams to me and that they love shooting and respect the art. While I'd probably be long in between my next travel to the city I'll definitely support them online from 5k miles away. Loved this place and everything it stands for. Support local and people who perpetuate the lost art!

As someone who knows next to nothing about film, I'm glad I found my way to Flats…read more Recently I had some photos "developed" at Walgreens, which was my first mistake. Weeks went by and I received a roll back, with no prints. I brought the roll to Flats thinking it was likely ruined, only for the amazing person who helped me (I wish I had asked her name!) to kindly explain there's was hope for my photos as Walgreens has developed the film, but not yet scanned it. I paid roughly ~$14 for a scan, which was a bit higher because I had half frames. I was informed that in the future when I bring a roll that needs to be developed too, that cost will cover the whole process. Really looking forward to getting my scans back, but already super pleased with the help I got here. Big thanks! :)

I had a very disappointing experience here. When we arrived, we rang the bell for assistance and…read morehad to wait for awhile before anyone came to help us. This was our first time developing film, so we weren't familiar with the process or the different scan options. We were excited to try it and asked a couple of questions to better understand. I apologized and mentioned that it was our first time, and her response was, "Well, there's a lot of information out there," while pointing outside toward the drop-off box. This came across as dismissive rather than helpful, especially as first-time customers who were genuinely trying to learn. After my friend completed her transaction, we left the store feeling frustrated. As I was walking out through the exit doors, I made a comment to my friend saying "f that b" out of frustration that was likely still within hearing distance (even though that wasn't my intent). The employee then came outside, approached my car, and confronted us. During the confrontation, she mentioned that she had been dealing with customers like that all week. She was the one who denied continuing with our transaction and insisted on issuing a refund. I explained why I was frustrated and agreed to the refund, but she continued arguing even after we had accepted it. As first-time customers, we were hoping for patience and basic customer service. Instead, the interaction felt unwelcoming and escalated unnecessarily. I hope management can address this and ensure customers--especially beginners--are treated with respect and professionalism.

From the beginning, communication has been terrible. I never received any updates and had to keep calling just to get basic information. At first, they told me they could fix it and quoted me a fee, which I agreed to. This was in February. Weeks went by with no progress, so I called again that's when I was suddenly told they couldn't fix it after all because they didn't order a part, but that I could get a replacement through them. They promised to call me back. They never did. This became a frustrating cycle of me calling, being told someone would get back to me, and then hearing nothing for weeks. I even made sure to give them some time before I called for updates. I went in person July 11 and waited 25 minutes while the owner searched for my camera, only to come up empty-handed. He told me he'd call me the next day it's been a month and I've heard nothing. When I try to voice my frustrations they come up w lies and hang up the phone on me while I'm talking. I initially chose this place because of the good reviews, but my experience has been extremely disappointing. I've been more than patient, but all I've received is poor customer and the runaround.
